Breakfast was poor. Large Tealights used not spirit burners so the bacon and eggs were cold. Three dark coloured jams with no labels to say what they were. Only pastries were mini croissants topped with almonds, hard luck if you had a nut allergy. Nobody around to ask about gluten free or allergies. Room was in a cabin 150m from the main building and 75m from the nearest place to park the car. We had obviously upset them as we arrived 20:10 and had been called at 19:50 to ask if we were coming. We had to walk past all the unoccupied cabins to the very last one. Must have been our punishment for arriving late. There was a mini bar which included a bottle of wine - but only one glass from which to drink it. The only lights in the room was over the ”desk” - a very modern affair, being a piece of wood around 25cm across - and two over the bed. If you wanted to read in the chairs, better have good eyesight. If one of you wanted to go to sleep earlier than the other, then either there was no light, or you try to go to sleep under the light. The only light switch was by the door. So after turning the lights out, one of you had to make your way to the other side of the room in pitch dark to the bed. The hotel has a restaurant and bar. At 20:10 the restaurant was all in the dark. And we never found the bar, unless that was the trolley with lots of bottles of spirits and glasses in a display. It was a good decision to eat before we arrived and hence why were did not arrive until 20:10. Staff were not welcoming. There was nobody in the breakfast room. There was a Breadboard and Carving Knife but no bread. When I went to the kitchen to ask, I was required to wait for the chef to finish his phone call before he would deal with my problem which was He said there was no bread but pointed at the rolls. I said you could not toast rolls. However a few minutes later a basket with 5 slices of bread arrived. I then went to toast it, only to find the toaster was not even plugged in as presumably they did not expect it to be used. I was almost run over by the girl polishing the reception floor (at 8am) with her machine and rather than stop and let the guest pass, she wanted me to stop as her work was more important. Breakfast also finished at 9:00. And don't trust the Danish Road sign. when you leave the main road (#22) it is 1,7km to the hotel not 1Km And finally, we did appreciate the items provided in the room as described in the room brochure. The soap, the towels, the mini bar, but it is the first time we have ever seen Toilet Paper being listed under the things supplied in a room.

Thon Partner Hotel Sorø
4/520 Reviews
I was hesitant to come to a hotel chain and to a property I am not familiar with. At the end, my stay exceeded my expectations. Everything was wonderful, the staff was very efficient, professional but at the same time friendly. The hotel felt chic but not pretentious. A hard to achive balance. Breakfast is superb. The quality deserves 6 out of 5! The only negative during my stay is that there was no espresso in breakfast, and ordering espresso is an extra charge. It absolutely does not make sense. There are even bitters like Jagermeisters etc on the offer in the breakfast, but on the other hand there is no espresso ! Senseless. But everything else was great. Also, in the room there was a nice Nespresso machine but a kettle will be a good addition. But overall this is a special property.
