Guest UserIt was an excellent experience in every aspect. Nothing beats a relaxing private onsen after each day out and the staff was so nice too. For what we got it was a very good price. The small houses are each unique and no matter which one you get, it'll look and feel nice. Beware that some of them are Futon only though.
There is no English translation for anything, but everything went smoothly with our small Japanese skills and Google Translate (the last of which could probably suffice by itself, especially as the staff is eager to throw in some English and Google Translate by themselves).
Thank you very much, we'll come again if we come to the Beppu area again.

Initially, I was torn between choosing between Kai Beppu and Harumi, and I'm so glad I ultimately went with Harumi. From the service to the facilities, this onsen (hot spring) ranks as one of the best I've visited in Japan, alongside Izu, Arima, and Karuizawa. Enjoying a hot soak with family, then relaxing on the balcony listening to the ocean waves while sipping a drink—it was such a perfect evening. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding, featuring many local specialties. I'll definitely be back!

I was a bit worried the hotel might be older than it looked in the photos, but it was actually very clean and nice! I was impressed by how clean it was when I saw that each person got a towel bag for their stay. My skin felt so soft afterwards, whether it was the water or the toiletries, I don't know! They had all the essentials like a fridge, a kettle, and toiletries. All the staff were super friendly, making it a truly great hotel. Unfortunately, I was too tired to try the on-site hot spring, so I definitely want to experience it if I visit again. If I ever come back to Beppu, I'll absolutely stay here again.

Guest UserA lovely relaxing hotel right on the Beppu beach road. There was a definite air of old seaside town about the place and it was very chill - the onsen in the hotel itself was very nice and wasn't at all busy when we were there.
The breakfast however did get quite crowded with tour groups so going down later worked the best for us - if you had to go in peak time there was often a queue.
The room was compact but very comfortable and had all the things needed for a comfy stay. Staff were lovely and the japanese pj's provided we're a nice touch.
Fantastic location for traveling around beppu as well as arriving from Fukuoka and leaving to Oita airport. The hotel is right next to both bus stops.

Guest UserRoom: neat clean space. lights and Aircon . the area between the beds is very spacious and there are large lockers so plenty of space to store your stuff . Bathroom: two normal showers and a large shower room where you can rent a bath hammock thing. three vanity sinks in this bathroom, then there's a toilet room with three toilets and three sinks, so lots of options. shampoo conditioner and body wash supplied. decent hairdryer. washing machine 300 yen, then dryer 100 yen per 15 mins. Security: pin code on dormitory. Amenities: there is a kitchen space and you can also order food from the 5th floor of the tower to the hostel lounge. Location: about ten minute walk from the station. plenty of eating places and shops nearby. there is a bus stop right outside. Other: might be useful if there were bins in the dormitory rather than having to go back and forth between the lounge. hooks in the bed area might also be useful e.g. for hanging your towel, although I suppose you could put it in your locker

ArianaIt takes about ten minutes to walk to the bus terminal and the nearest convenience store. The hotel is very close to Baichi Hot Spring, about a three-minute walk, which is very convenient.
The cleanliness of the hotel is very high, and the rooms are large. There is an indoor hot spring and an outdoor hot spring in the room. However, there should be some additives in the hot spring, and the family members have a little allergies after soaking. In addition, the hotel also has a family hot spring, the hot spring is very large, the environment is also good.
The staff were enthusiastic and courteous. Because we lost a piece of hand luggage on the bus, the staff not only helped us call to find it, but also taught us how to claim it, which really helped us a lot.
The meal is exquisite, but the taste is average, and everyone may have different tastes.
Probably because I have stayed in a lot of hot spring hotels, in contrast I think the price of this one is relatively high.

I stayed in Beppu for three nights. This residential hotel was in a super convenient location, just 2 minutes from Donki. The kitchen was nice, and the washing machine had a bit of a smell, but it's essential for families with kids. The bathroom was also a drying room, so after showering at night, I did the laundry and hung it up to dry, experiencing a taste of Japanese family life. The only downside was the lack of an elevator, which was inconvenient for those with heavy luggage staying on the second floor. Beppu has Kyushu Natural Zoo, Oita Aquarium, Takasakiyama Monkey Park, and Beppu Hell. It's not boring even if you don't go shopping.

Location is near supermarket and family mart. A few Coin parking locations near the house. First floor has 2 rooms <1 double bed and 1 with twin beds> but no space for luggages, a small washing basin at the corner of the staircase. 1 wc and 2 showers at first floor. Washing machine <no dryer> on the first floor. 1 wc on 2nd floor. Living room on 3 floor. 2nd floor has 2 rooms <1 with 2 double beds and 1 single bed, another with a single bed>. 2 washing basin on 2nd floor inside the rooms. It's not possible to bring big luggage up to narrow and steep staircase.no mirror on 1st floor so nid to climb up to wash and brush teeth. We wish the living room was the 1st floor. The music from nearby is bearable. Only know how to manage the water heater on 2nd day.
Suggestion to include rubbish bins on the first and 2nd floor. Add a mirror on first floor.

Jo TanPros: Stayed at Room 203 meant for 5 person… Spacious and comfortable room! Had a window too!
Good soundproofing between rooms. Only could hear passing by of trains while awake, so wasn’t a big an issue to us.
TV has YouTube and Netflix to watch!
Cons: No lift!!! We had to carry our heavy & big luggages to the 2nd floor! *Should indicate shortage of this important facility in the booking system!
Only 2 parking spaces for 7 units. *Should also indicate in the booking system that parking spaces are first come first served and have to park at nearby paying car parks if both were being taken up.
Will be nice to provide some garbage bags in the room as clearing of food waste from the room was definitely necessary during the many days of our stay!
Dining table (super wobbly and one side of the table legs seemed like giving away very soon) needs to changed/repaired instantly!

Guest UserDespite it says ocean view, there is only carpark view. And the building in the picture is actually not the bnb you will be staying at. It is the hotel where you will get the key.
One aircon doesn't work and stopped multiple times when it gets too hot in the living room at first, we tried a couple of times turning it on again but still the temperature in the room is still very hot until we go out to the balcony and open the windows there. The wifi also doesn't work during our stay. It has free parking though which is convenient and there are lots of eating places and supermarkets around.
Our unit doesn't have washing machine so make sure when you book, you book the one equipped with it (but when you book, the description is not very clear). There is no person stationed there so you have to get the key from another hotel which is around 1km away, so not suggested for travelers without cars.
