Amazing
AAnonymous UserFirst impression of the lobby is grand yet intimate. They escort you to a table and bring a welcome drink while checking you in. The rooms are large with a wonderful view. The rooms look just like the photos. Breakfasts are great, they make Eggs Benedict every morning. One day there was mango juice. Green smoothie every day. You can also get soba noodles cooked. You can even exchange breakfast for lunch at the hotel next door, and use their larger pools there. The room description mentioned a sea view, but on the third floor, a triangular roof slightly obstructs it, though the view is still incredible.
GGuest User. Halekulani Okinawa is an outstanding resort that delivers exactly what you expect from the brand: impeccable service, exceptional comfort, and a deep sense of calm.
The service is flawless—attentive, warm, and genuinely thoughtful without ever feeling intrusive. The rooms are extremely comfortable, beautifully designed, and perfectly suited for a slow, restorative stay. The surrounding nature is stunning, and the resort feels well integrated into its landscape, which adds a lot to the overall experience.
We stayed in December, and despite it being winter, the atmosphere was still incredibly pleasant and charming. The main pool does not operate in winter, but honestly, it doesn’t feel like a drawback at all—there is so much more to the property than the pool.
Breakfast deserves a special mention: it is excellent, with high-quality ingredients and great variety. I highly recommend trying breakfast in different restaurants during your stay, as each offers a slightly different experience.
Overall, Halekulani Okinawa is a refined, serene, and beautifully executed resort. A perfect choice for those who value comfort, service, and atmosphere over loud entertainment—even in the winter season.
YYan ReevesWe had spent 4 nights at the hotel during the Golden Week which might have influenced the perception of service, but not dramatically.
Among the advantages of the hotel are: nice spacious rooms (ours had a stunning sea view); generally good location with beautiful nature and access to the beaches where you could actually swim (not a given on the island) - at least until the tide goes too low; reasonably good food across the restaurants with rather friendly prices; stylish bar with quality drinks.
Among the disadvantages are: very non-Japanese service (generally not very helpful, with low penetration of English among the staff) and lack of attention to detail that could make the resort actually very nice - again, not very typical case for Japan.
A few pieces of advice to the management:
1. Bring the option of in-room breakfast. If a guest is sick and can’t go down, it’s impossible to order in-room breakfast on the day, while rooms service opens at 11:30. Same frustration goes to the coffee stall downstairs that doesn’t serve coffee during earlier breakfast hours
2. Consider equipping rooms with coffee machines and contemporary electronics - low costs to take, yet massive disadvantage for the 5* status for not having them
3. Pay more attention to room service: we spent 48h without shampoo and shower gel. Our glasses were washed occasionally. New bottles of drinking water arrived only once.
4. Fix the beach! The amenities there look like a poor community beach area, especially those shameful umbrellas. You have reasonable amenities at the pool - why not spreading them to the beach areas to make them feel more like a resort rather than public beaches that no one gave any care?
5. Gym and SPA amenities could use a bit of refreshment. I won’t mention SPA service itself which might be a result of poor luck with the specific technician
6. Empty mini bar equals lost revenue. You could easily cover the modifications above through adding more options for people to enjoy drinks at their balconies.
What makes staying in Japan truly special - genuine care and attention to every detail - was completely missing over our stay at this Hyatt. In fact, we consistently had that feeling “this could actually be really nice” and then something would go terribly wrong with the awkward service. The hotel that looks like 5* on pictures leaves a 3* aftertaste at max. I am only writing this because I felt it didn’t have to - those are easy aspects to fix.
KKuailedeyimituanziFantastic hotel! The room was huge and incredibly clean!
All the rooms in this hotel are sea-view with very large balconies. The weather during my stay was absolutely perfect, so I spent both days and nights lounging on the sofa on the balcony, enjoying the sea breeze and the ocean view!
Personally, I felt this hotel perfectly met my needs! If any of the following points are a big deal for you, then definitely consider them; otherwise, just book it without a second thought:
1. To get to the nearest beach, you have to cross a road yourself, and there are no rentable sun loungers or parasols on the beach.
2. The hotel pool water was a bit cold.
3. The breakfast can't compare to what you'd find in China, though there is one with a nice sea view.
BBtedarThe hotel lobby is beautiful
The room is quite big and comfortable
The beach is just outside the hotel
I like this resort-style hotel
But the hotel time is longer
Some facilities are old
But I don't think it affected the accommodation experience
Breakfast facing the beach and the ocean is great
The sea water is clear and clean
Will definitely stay again
GGuest UserSuitable for families and road trips, this is a convenient stopover.
Easy to travel north to Churaumi Aquarium and Kouri Island, or to plan your central itinerary. Convenience stores and restaurants are within walking distance.
Parking is available for those driving; quiet nights ensure a good night's sleep.
Spacious rooms include a kitchen and washing machine (no dryer, so please be aware that thick winter clothes may take longer to dry).
Simple breakfast options are provided, along with complimentary tea and coffee.
Perfect for those who don't crave a resort-style hotel or a lavish breakfast, and value spaciousness and flexibility in their itinerary.
Overall, a great stay; unanimously praised by my family! 👍
다다크패치While the location is a bit out of the way, since we had a rental car, it was convenient for traveling between the northern parts of Okinawa and American Village. The rooms were surprisingly spacious and clean for a Japanese accommodation. It's definitely a family-friendly hotel. The facilities were also very satisfying. The pool was a bit small but still enjoyable. We barely saw any Koreans; the guest demographic seemed to be mostly Japanese, followed by Chinese (or perhaps *********), Westerners, and then Koreans, in that order. Most guests were clearly families. Everything, from the value for money to the facilities, was perfect. If I had to point out a drawback, it would be the lack of things to do or see right around the hotel, haha. Only a Lawson convenience store and a couple of restaurants are within walking distance. However, we were happy because we could buy groceries at the nearby Aeon MaxValu and prepare simple meals. We will definitely stay here again on our next trip to Okinawa. Highly recommended!
VVets123It was a pleasant stay with ANA. The beach , swimming pool facilities are excellent. It would have been better if they extend the opening hours of the pool, they are only open until 6.
They also have a bouncy castle slides at the beach but it costs 4000 yen for adult or child. A bit overpriced I think for child.
The breakfast is good but the hotel is a bit old but acceptable. If u r looking for a not super fancy stay, this hotel is a good choice.
HHsinTangThe hotel's swimming pool has indoor and outdoor sections, as well as a waterslide for babies. The indoor pool has a bed against the wall, making it safe and comfortable for young children to sleep. Importantly, there are also educational and fun activities nearby. I highly recommend bringing children to participate in these activities. Parking is available, but sometimes a shuttle service is required to get the car. I really loved the lobby's décor. Also, being able to continue playing in the pool after check-out is fantastic.
EEnzo & DanyThe hotel built around the pool is in a wall, while the other parts are large containers called chelets, which are very comfortable, large and functional. Our had two beds from one and a half square and a spy-spaw with three other beds where three boys could be well-being; the little bathroom was not missing; very warm water was well-regulable; there was also a sofa and a table. It was part of the washing and dryer accessories, very much
comfortable. The containers/chalets are painted in a sympathetic way. The pool is really large and kept in a perfect way. The only negative note is the rise if you have no means of transport that, especially with baggage, is difficult. The staff is very available in everything.
