Chestnut Residence and Conference Centre - University of Toronto Reviews

The room is tidy and everything looks nice to me. Honestly, I chose it not only because the location is perfect, but also because it is the university residence used to host guests during the long spring/summer break.

I booked this hotel so that my daughter can experience how it’s like to live on a university campus. Well, I regret it right away. It was just an old hotel with outdated decor. First of all, the room we stayed had a horrible mold smell. We stayed one night and my daughter had allergic reactions. (Room 2621) On the second night we were moved to another room. This room definitely had a better air quality. But, there was no hair dryer. (Room 1428) I also used a laundry room on the basement (c level). You must buy a card with minimum of 10 dollars, but as three driers failed to dry my clothes, I wasted so much money and time. These laundry machines and dryers are not maintained well at all. Beware and try not to do laundry there. All and all, I do not recommend this hotel. But, I appreciate the front desk lady, Ms, Marina for taking care of our needs when we were desperate. Thank you!

Toronto is a beautiful city, I would visit again, but probably would choose another hotel. The location is wonderful, within walking distance to many places like Kensington market, Chinatown, and Harborfront. Our room looked out onto the Toronto sign in Nathan Phillips square, Eaton Centre shopping mall is less than a 5 minute walk away. The hotel is not conventional, it is a student dorm for University of Toronto students, you are staying in a college dorm room. The room is spacious but the amenities are old, basic and outdated. Parking is not included, underground parking garages are available around the hotel for about 26 CAD/day. Breakfast is self-serve in the cafeteria, it’s good enough to fill you up but the food is nothing special.

The place is walking distance to tourist attraction

Decent accomadation for someone wanting to stay downtown for a decent rate, would go back again for sure

The environment is average, but the surrounding facilities are very complete, the location is very good, and it is very convenient for traveling. There is also a food street near the hotel, which meets all the needs of children.

Stayed for four nights, no one ever came to clean the room But the room was big enough and generally comfortable

The location is good, it's in downtown, convenient to go everywhere, there are many Asian restaurants downstairs. But the facilities are very old... It feels like a hotel that has been around for many years. It is a conference hotel for the University of Toronto.

This is the dormitory for most college students. The price is cheap in this location. No one cleans the place.

This apartment is a student apartment. It is very old and the facilities are not good. The faucets are rusty. I chose it mainly because it is close to the university and has a good location. There is a whole food street downstairs and it is very close to the Municipal Square, about a few hundred meters and 5 minutes' walk. Because the price is not cheap, the cost performance is not high. After moving in, I found that there are better hotels at the same price. I will not choose it next time.

Apart from the location, I would not recommend it. The room smelled stinky and there was nothing in it, not even a desk lamp or a hair dryer, and the facilities were old.

Attending my daughter's graduation ceremony, the hotel is old but affordable

The breakfast is good. It's very close to the U of T and union station, so it's convenient to travel.
