"I traveled to the UK with my children during the summer, and I was deeply impressed by this hotel in the Lake District. It was originally an unintentional choice, but the result was very pleasant. The room facilities were excellent, and the breakfast was the best and most stylish breakfast in the entire trip to the UK. If you have the opportunity, you will definitely choose this hotel next time you come to the Lake District. Note: There is a Chinese service person at the front desk of the hotel, which is very good"

"Wonderful holiday at the Windermere Hotel with our dog!
Our lovely clean room with crisp white bedding was in the annex so vey quiet and only 10 yards away from the dog friendly bar which also served bar snacks for a very reasonable price.
We had breakfast included in the price and the dog was allowed to sit with us next to the dining hall with tables all set up for dog owners.
All of the staff from the minute we checked in were very friendly and helpful.
We will be back!"

"The room is very stylish. Our room was fine except for the street which was noisy. I especially recommend breakfast. You need to book with the front desk before 6pm the night before. It is freshly made in the morning and very delicious! You can't miss it. The hotel is in a good location, walking distance to the train station and Bowness."

"The location and hygiene of this hotel is okay, except that the carpets don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time.
I was most dissatisfied with a male waiter, his attitude was particularly bad, I suspect he was a ******, his attitude was really bad, I have stayed in so many places in the world in hotels and B&Bs, this male waiter's attitude was the worst, I entered the staff area is my fault, but I entered from the restaurant, there is no staff only to enter the prompts, the male waiter kicked me out like a dog, I felt I was insulted.The waiter shooed me out like a dog, I felt insulted, it seems that the quality of the British people really needs to be improved."

"Although the hotel is not close to the lake, in the middle of Windermere Town and Bowness, it is basically a minute walk to the lake by boat. Peter Rabbit's world is the closest. The room is large and tidy. The bathroom is the largest of the hotels booked in the seven cities in the UK. The room layout is very warm, the cabinet is very large, and there are many hangers suitable for putting a lot of clothes. The boss's father is a Hong Konger. He chats with us every morning and recommends our travel route. He is very enthusiastic. The breakfast is also very rich, and the price is very reasonable during the peak summer season."

"I booked a room for 3 people, on the top floor, the room size is okay, there is room for luggage. The facilities are new and the mattresses are comfortable. The landlord is very enthusiastic, and my son chatted with him very happily. I must give him a good comment. Breakfast is also very good, with a set of bread, bacon, omelette per person, yogurt and fruit buffet. The hotel is located in the middle of the railway station and the pier, and there is a 599 bus stop at the door. When I arrived, I felt that it was a long way from the train station, but after getting familiar with it, I thought it was okay."

Rrockylee1. The location of the hotel is very good. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the cruise ship terminal. There are many restaurants nearby and the accommodation is very convenient. The room is large and there is a living room, unexpected, but the living room side is on the bedside, next to the street, sooner or later, some noisy, especially the UK speed is generally faster, pay attention to it. Breakfast is prepared in advance bread yogurt cereal milk, some in the refrigerator, some in the locker, do not have too much expectations.
2. If you come by car, you will need a parking card with the front desk, which costs £3 a day. There are unlimited parking. There are several places to park. It is actually very convenient. When you leave, you can go to the parking lot to drive first, and put the key and parking card at the front desk when you come back.

GGuest UserRum Doodle, well it was our first time at The Lakes and it certainly won't be our last! The location was just right with being part way between Windermere town and Bowness and was walkable to both. There were plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in walking distance as well as lake Windermere itself.
We found Rum Doodle with ease and was greeted at the door with a smile and friendly man (the owner but didn't catch his name). We were bought a fresh glass of apple and orange juice to our room which was refreshing after a long drive to Windermere. Our room was comfy, not too big or too small, a wardrobe, seating in the bay window, hairdryer, hot drink making facilities, wine glasses with cork screw and bottle opener. Very modern, clean and well presented bathroom with soft and fluffy towels, and a really nice shower. The bed was very comfortable and welcomed after a busy day exploring the surrounding area.
Breakfast was really good with cereal, fresh fruit and yogurt, toast, and then a choice of breakfast which were great too.
We had a pleasant and informative chat at breakfast with the lady that works there who gave us the heads up on some driving routes to try and avoid which was really useful.
After a day out exploring we went back to Rum Doodle to a cleaned room and freshly made bed with the tea and coffee replenished, so we were able to just drop and the bed with a nice cuppa and biscuit. Then out for a walk, some lovely food and a couple of drinks.
We couldn't recommend The Lakes and Rum Doodle enough! Well worth every penny

GGlynMy wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. If we return to Bowness we will look no further than Burn How for accommodation.

GGuest UserThe room is average, the house is beautiful, and the surrounding gardens are also beautiful. Although it is a little far from the lake area, once you walk there you can occupy the lake area and use it as the front garden of two particularly luxurious villas, which is truly beautiful.

The house is nearby the Windermere Station & the Windermere Library making it very easy for us to explore via the bus routes. Very clean & great amenities + Garry was very helpful with us recommendations! Would go back for our next trip!

However, the service of the restaurant is really different from one waiter to another. I don't know if it is for Chinese people or what. There was a blonde who was very unpleasant in terms of attitude and ordering. Some were very nice.

GGuest UserThe Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness.
The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude.
The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens.
We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that.
Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.

PPriyanka BajirajThe property and the ambience is lovely. The view from the restaurant garden is very pleasant and beautiful. The room size, bathroom size and amenities were good. We faced 1 major problem to be precise which made us a bit sore.
Cleanliness - the room was clean except for the carpet. It didn’t feel like it was vacuumed. There was probably a pet staying in that room before us and there was a lot of hair on the carpet. I understand it is a pet friendly property and I have absolutely no problem with that. But cleaning the room properly before the next checkin is a basic expectation. We couldn’t step on the floor without our feet being covered with hair.
Apart from that, everything else was very good. Breakfast was also good and the customer service was very polite and hospitable as well.

KK1R4N_2024The hotel was hospitable with very friendly staff however location wise it was quite far from the places I wantes to visit however it was close by to the town centre with many halal restaurant suchs as lake raj. Overall it was a pleasant stay!!!
