I recently stayed at the Woodlands Hotel in the Lake District, and I was very pleased with the experience. First of all, the breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of options including fresh salmon, which was a nice touch. The room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable, giving it a homely feel. The hotel is also in a convenient location, with a nearby bus stop that makes it easy to reach the main attractions in the Lake District. Overall, it’s a great value hotel with attentive service. Highly recommended!
I booked this stay for my husbands birthday. I have stayed at a few spa resorts and to be honest I was left underwhelmed by the experience. We had a 'dirty towel ' in the room which smelt dirty and had stains on it. I did get it changed and the lady was very apologetic. If tgat was it then it would have been fine however the service in the bar was atrocious. We went to the bar on Saturday evening. We had to wait 10 minutes to get served which was fine but then from asking for our cocktail order we had to wait a further 25 minutes. The poor young boy on the bar was new and didn't know how to make cocktails so he had to wait for Leah, to take over. That would have been fine except Leah was flirting with 2 men at the bar from a wedfing party and kept us waiting 25 minutes from placing our order to actually receiving it. Then I know it is petty but when you are buying a passion fruit martini you sort of expect the half passion fruit. But no. Not here. There wasn't any. Neither were there any cocktail straws to drink it - only full sized strangers??
Apart from the dirty towel the room was mediocre. Please can someone from management lie on the sofa bed in room 275? The springs in the mattress have gone and my poor daughter had to endure a night on what was excruciating. I think a bag of spanners would have been more comfortable. Please can the manager just check thus out?
Finally as I said I have stayed in a lot of spa resorts and though this is a beautiful location the attention to detail let's it down. No tissues or slippers in the room and we booked for 3 but only had towels and gowns for 2. For the price I expected more sorry.

Basic but clean hotel. Check in and parking were great breakfast was really tasty and all allergens were displayed and we also were able to get gluten free toast. Location was great at the top of Windamere hill 30 minute walk into bowness. Residents bar wasn't open and the bar next door Orrests head was freezing. We came back up to the hotel in the night hoping to get a drink but the bar had closed earlier than the time advertised which was disappointing as there was no where else to get a drink.

Environment: A beautiful old English-style house, the interior is exquisite, compact, neat and clean, with many cute little ornaments.
Facilities: Warm bedding, snow-white towels, free sparkling water, welcome milk. There is a hot water kettle and bedside USB socket.
Meals: There are seven or eight set meals to choose from for breakfast. The full English style is very rich. You can even choose low-calorie coffee and low-calorie tea!
Service: The landlord is very kind and gentleman, and can speak ”omelet” and ”poached egg” in Chinese.
The feeling of an English country villa is very cozy. When traveling with a family, we thought that three people would squeeze into one bed, but when we came back, we found that the service staff had put up a folding bed. The service staff was very nice. If there was no service staff after 7pm, you could call if you needed anything, and enter and exit the hotel by yourself with the key. The restaurant is warm and clean, the service is good, and the dishes are also rich. It has its own independent parking lot. I will recommend it to my friends.
Amazing travel experience, the owner of the house and two dogs will take them out every day! Breakfast was generous and delicious! The day of check-in was Valentine's Day, and the owner also prepared chocolates and flowers!
Room facilities are good, breakfast is good to choose, the bathtub has massage function. The location is still a short distance from the station. It is a rainy season, so it is a little troublesome. It is almost impossible to take a taxi.
The location and hygiene of this hotel is okay, except that the carpets don't seem to have been cleaned for a long time.
I was most dissatisfied with a male waiter, his attitude was particularly bad, I suspect he was a ******, his attitude was really bad, I have stayed in so many places in the world in hotels and B&Bs, this male waiter's attitude was the worst, I entered the staff area is my fault, but I entered from the restaurant, there is no staff only to enter the prompts, the male waiter kicked me out like a dog, I felt I was insulted. The waiter shooed me out like a dog, I felt insulted, it seems that the quality of the British people really needs to be improved.
Although the hotel is not close to the lake, in the middle of Windermere Town and Bowness, it is basically a minute walk to the lake by boat. Peter Rabbit's world is the closest. The room is large and tidy. The bathroom is the largest of the hotels booked in the seven cities in the UK. The room layout is very warm, the cabinet is very large, and there are many hangers suitable for putting a lot of clothes. The boss's father is a Hong Konger. He chats with us every morning and recommends our travel route. He is very enthusiastic. The breakfast is also very rich, and the price is very reasonable during the peak summer season.
I booked a room for 3 people, on the top floor, the room size is okay, there is room for luggage. The facilities are new and the mattresses are comfortable. The landlord is very enthusiastic, and my son chatted with him very happily. I must give him a good comment. Breakfast is also very good, with a set of bread, bacon, omelette per person, yogurt and fruit buffet. The hotel is located in the middle of the railway station and the pier, and there is a 599 bus stop at the door. When I arrived, I felt that it was a long way from the train station, but after getting familiar with it, I thought it was okay.

DDANThis hotel is a good choice for self-guided travel. The location is not far from the station. It takes about 5 or 6 minutes to push your luggage downhill. It is a family hotel. The facilities are incomparable to the big hotels, but they have everything they should have, and the landlord The couple are very enthusiastic, and the breakfast is very good. The three-story loft has two double-bed rooms, the room is not big, but the bathroom is large, and the second floor is a twin room and two rooms. GGuest UserThe bathroom facilities are superb! ! The water flow is very large, easy to adjust, and there are two nozzles, one is lower and the other is higher. The bathtub is very clean
The owner is nice, the breakfast is so-so (smoky products are too salty, please don’t try) there is a bus stop next to it, there is also a very large sainsbury convenience store, it is very convenient to buy ice cream and so on
Rrockylee1. The location of the hotel is very good. It takes only 10 minutes to walk to the cruise ship terminal. There are many restaurants nearby and the accommodation is very convenient. The room is large and there is a living room, unexpected, but the living room side is on the bedside, next to the street, sooner or later, some noisy, especially the UK speed is generally faster, pay attention to it. Breakfast is prepared in advance bread yogurt cereal milk, some in the refrigerator, some in the locker, do not have too much expectations.
2. If you come by car, you will need a parking card with the front desk, which costs £3 a day. There are unlimited parking. There are several places to park. It is actually very convenient. When you leave, you can go to the parking lot to drive first, and put the key and parking card at the front desk when you come back.
GGlynMy wife and I stayed at Burn How for 4 nights. Immediately we found the staff most welcoming and friendly. The pleasant atmosphere was maintained at breakfast throughout our stay. The spacious room- with everything you might need- was part of a block of chalets set romantically amongst some beautiful trees. If we return to Bowness we will look no further than Burn How for accommodation.

YYifanThis house was built in 1850. This house can be checked in through a password. The bed is soft and comfortable, the room is very warm, and the hot water is sufficient. It is a little bit far from the railway station, but very close to the lake. A good trip experience!
GGuest UserThis hotel has a long history and was used to train marines during World War I. The location is also very good. You can sit in the restaurant or the outdoor porch and quietly enjoy the different views of Lake Windermere in rainy and sunny weather. The hotel has its own all-day restaurant, but the food on the menu is not very attractive. If you want, there is a high-scoring restaurant on Google Maps just a few minutes outside the hotel. The lamb, calf and fish seen in the lake area are all delicious. You can also see a rabbit family in the hotel garden. It is indeed the hometown of Peter Rabbit. It is also very convenient to go to the pier. You can take a ferry or rent a battery boat or a rowing boat. The battery boat we rented was because it was sunny that day. The battery boat has a sunshade and costs 42 pounds per hour.
Now let's talk about the service of this hotel. The front desk, the porter and the waitress in the restaurant provided excellent service during the two days we stayed there. However, I was not satisfied with the male waiter on duty in the restaurant on those two days: the guests were seated without tableware and were busy cleaning other tables. I called several times to order food but he ignored it and even replied: we are short of staff. After I took the knife and fork by myself and described the above situation to a male waiter who looked like a foreman, he asked me hypocritically if I needed a knife and fork now. The plates on the table could not be cleared in time. In addition, the herring was too salty. They did not actively ask for tea or coffee. Even the Twinings tea bag box on the breakfast table was empty for a whole morning until the meal was closed, and it was not replenished. Let alone other bread and other foods. In such a prestigious and historic Lake District hotel, such service is unacceptable. The good news is that the two waitresses on duty on the second day changed my feelings. They were enthusiastic and quick, and were willing to provide excellent service to customers. It happened to be the European Cup final that day, and the hotel provided guests with an activity room to watch the game together, which was still down-to-earth.
董董The owner of the Scotsman is very cautious, and the house price is conscience in the Lake District. It is very convenient to park the door and park all day. The rooms are very small but the old wooden houses are like this. Although the rooms are not soundproof, the guests are very quiet and conscious of the weekends in the UK. The stairs were very narrow and almost staggered, but the boss was very enthusiastic to help take another box. Some people complain that the hot water temperature is not good enough to put it in the eco gear position. The energy-saving faucet is really too small. The local tyrants who are accustomed to the big bathroom must not be too narrow. The shampoo on the ground is sloppy. When a farmhouse mentality is just fine, in fact, many hotel standards in the UK are too far from the domestic price. Half of the price is not as good as the standard of a small county. The breakfast is very good, the owner is doing it himself, the authentic English breakfast is full, the ingredients are very good. It is a little worry that the sauce is not the standard original vial.
GGuest UserRoom was a good size. Plenty of parking available. Swimming pool was nice. Nice view of the lake from the gardens. Very friendly staff. Lovely food. Pleasant gardens. The lounge was relaxing with nice sofa .
Some minor issues:
Lack of shower pressure , toilet wouldn't flush properly, blood stain on the floor of the toilet, took ages to get hot water through for showering
GGuest UserThe Macdonald Old England Hotel is well situated, being just a stones throw from the lakeside and the shops in Bowness.
The staff are friendly and obliging and the service matches their attitude.
The breakfasts are fine, although the staff can sometimes be a bit slow in replenishing the tureens.
We did not use the Spa, so we cannot comment on that.
Overall, we found the hotel to have all the facilities that we were lookling for and we would be happy to stay there again.
KK1R4N_2024The hotel was hospitable with very friendly staff however location wise it was quite far from the places I wantes to visit however it was close by to the town centre with many halal restaurant suchs as lake raj. Overall it was a pleasant stay!!!
