We had an amazing stay at Gather Inn in George Town, Malaysia. The hosts were absolutely brilliant — so attentive, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. The room was spotless, with great facilities and everything maintained to a really high standard. The air conditioning was fantastic, which made such a difference in the heat and kept the room super comfortable. The location was also perfect: very close to the centre and all the main attractions, yet tucked away in a quiet area so we could get a great night’s sleep every night. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone visiting George Town!
Facilities: Although relatively simple, you can feel that the store is full of care and has everything you need.
Hygiene: Very clean, I feel like home in this environment
Environment: Surrounded by Little India, you can walk more than 100 meters to the beach to see the sea. There is a ferry on the other side of the sea.
Service: The service is very good. The boss personally helps you with your luggage, and also asks if you want an omelette. He also gives you an Indian pancake to try, which is very considerate.
Considering the price, this hotel is reasonable for a short stay. It has all the basic necessities, but if you're looking for something particularly comfortable, it's just okay. The main drawback of the hotel is the soundproofing.
With the economic price of the hostel, it gets everything including shower (not too hot water), room with air cond. (not very spacious) and a simple free breakfast (only toast with jam/butter & watermelon). Good for backpackers and sth need to know in advance: no shoes allow walking up the stairs to rooms (no lift). Hopefully the cold water section of their water fountain will be fixed, so people can have free cool drinking water without buying bottles.
The staffs were nice and got recommended to try mee sotong😄
Super slow internet speed. Don't think about using social media or browse the internet with their wifi. Very dusty underneath the bed & behind the TV. Otherwise, clean bedsheets, towels and toilet.
The accommodation is convenient. You can travel from the pier right away. It is near the fishing village. There is a loklok near the hotel. You can easily walk to street art. It is just behind the hotel. The location is very good. However, the accommodation does not provide drinking water. You have to buy it yourself. At first, it was confusing because the accommodation was newly opened. It is easier to pin the location as SAVV hotel. It will be nearby, but not there. You can walk to find the building according to the comments below.
The room was spacious, and the air conditioning worked perfectly. The spot by the window got plenty of sunlight, and the double bed was comfortable. My only minor quibble was that the pillows were a bit too soft for my liking 😅, but the customer service was incredibly quick, and new pillows were delivered right away.
The bathroom was also very roomy, with a stable water heater and excellent water pressure, making for a pleasant experience. I do hope the staff can pay a bit more attention to the cleanliness of the toilet in the future, which would make the stay even better.
I stayed on the first floor, and the hot and cold water dispenser was right outside my door, making it super convenient for getting water, going up and down, or heading out. This is ideal for guests traveling with seniors or children. Plus, the self-service system is quite handy, and the customer service staff were very helpful.
Overall, the stay was good. The only drawback was the lack of an elevator, which could be inconvenient for guests on the second and third floors having to carry their luggage.
The room was very clean, and the bed was comfortable, ensuring a quiet and peaceful rest thanks to good soundproofing. The front desk staff were friendly and efficient with both check-in and check-out. There are plenty of dining options nearby, and a convenience store is just a short walk away. Overall, I had a very satisfying experience and would definitely stay here again.
