Excellent stay, friendly staff, this hotel offers a minimalistic lean style genre Moxy and CitizenM. I stayed here last year and found the price-quality ratio excellent. My total stay now was 9 days.
The bar and restaurant are excellent, and the breakfast satisfactory for a European hotel (I live in Asia where you’d expect several warm meals, noodles and rice for breakfast!)
However, I extended my stay by a couple of days, and I don’t find that they handled this edge case too well. First a hotel staff member knocked on my door and asked why I hadn’t checked out. I explained the situation and all seemed fine. But later that day housekeeping staff barged into my room several times unannounced , seemingly unaware the room was still occupied (why is there no button with a don’t disturb sign? Or even an old school door hanger?). So please JAM, you need to improve your processes better.
The room is clean. The bottom of the bunk bed was small and the upper one was more comfortable. It happened that there were only two people in a 6-person room, so bed making was not a pain. When making beds, I found a stain like a spill on the futon cover. It took 5 minutes to get hot water. Other than that, there is no complaint. You can walk to the tourist spots. The tram ride fee is high for Japanese people, so I walked to Hento Sint Peters station for about 30 minutes to save money.
We specially enjoyed the bath tube in the room we stayed. The location was also great, as you can connect directly to the shopping district. Staffs were very friendly and helpful.
Location is geared more toward those who intend to take quite a bit of daily intercity train trips like us. It's very, very near the ghent st Peters station. Hence, there is not much night activity or eateries around the area. But it's an easy bus ride toward the town centre thus its not too much of a hassle to travel within the city.
Service at the main desk was professional and friendly. I stayed 4 nights there, and on the last day of my stay, the cleaning lady did not bother to clean the room or take out the trash. I complained about this to the front office lady, and she was apologetic and waived my city tax payment.
Overall, I would still stay there if I need to go on daily intercity train trips as the price is actually quite reasonable. I only ranked the service as 4 stars due to the lapse of cleaning service on the last day.
Fantastic for the price we paid clean and nice staff very nice looking place loads to eat and drink within walking distance only downside no tea or coffee making stuff in the room, woold absolutely stay again tho and definitely plan to soon, BBQ grill place near by had amazing food
Hotel Chamade in Ghent is a delightful find! The modern design and cozy ambiance create a welcoming atmosphere. My room was comfortable and well-equipped, perfect for relaxation. Its location is ideal, just a short walk from the city center and attractions. The friendly staff provided excellent service, making my stay even more enjoyable. Highly recommended for a charming experience in Ghent!
Great location, right in the town centre with easy access to shops and restaurants. They have free all-day, self-service coffee, tea and hot chocolate, plus a water dispenser in the lobby. No-frills in the room - basic toiletries, good shower and flatscreen, but no kettle, no shower cap, no slippers, and no laundry service. Communication with reception is via chat but there's good free wifi throughout. Daily breakfast was scrambled eggs, meats, mushrooms, tomato, cucumber, cheese, bread, pastries, yogurt and cereal with a selection of coffees and teas. Oh, rooms are not soundproof so if you're a light sleeper, ask for one facing inside, not facing the street.
Nice hotel, in the centre of the edge but still easy to reach, park on Friday market on arc.
Very wide room, large bed, mini bar, coffee facilities, bathroom with bath and shower, beautiful view of the water.
Friendly staff at the reception, at breakfast a little less.
A great breakfast room on the 3rd floor with views over Gent and the water.
Breakfast buffet is good but not luxury.
This hotel is certainly a recommendation!
Beautiful hotel with perfect view of a cathedral from our twin room. Hotel is in a historic building with lovely architectural features by the canal and the room we were in was a cleverly designed ”duplex” with the bathroom and sinks on the upper floor (ie loft) which made full use of the almost double volume ceiling in the smallish twin room we were in. The only drawback was that the steps were narrow and steep and would pose a problem if one had mobility issues. The toilet was located by the door next to the entrance but there was no sink for handwashing. Alcohol gel in a pump bottle was provided.
There is a café, lifestyle / clothes shop and supermarket in the same building. Very convenient and the hotel's location was walkable to all the sights in Ghent central.
The front desk staff were very polite and gracious and allowed us to store our luggage when we arrived before 11am, since check-in was strictly at 4pm. We were happy to find that our suitcases had been already delivered to our room when we returned to the hotel at 4pm.
There are 2 bars in the hotel - one which is open to the public which was buzzing in the evenings and a guest-only ”Honesty Bar” (1st photo) in which hotel guests could purportedly help themselves to liquor and pen down what they had imbibed - but I never saw anyone in it ! This could be due to a lack of ice or mixers. Or glasses. 🍸

TTak ChiGenerally the cleanliness of lobby floor public areas and room were above average 👍🏻👍🏻
Need to be careful when driving into that expo , ikea and the hotel zone as they located along with each others and shared the same directory board which the indicator bit small you might miss the hotel car park entrance
The front staff he is super friendly and helpful 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I would say the amenities is worth for the price 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

GGuest UserThe basic service was okay. I booked a triple room, but upon entering, I discovered it only had a double bed. It turned out the sofa bed had to be moved out and adjusted by the guest, whereas at other hotels, it was already set up before check-in. The hotel doesn't clean the rooms daily, so guests have to go to the front desk to get any supplies they need in the bathroom. However, these details weren't communicated to guests at check-in.

MMax017The best hotel we’ve had so far! Room comes with a mini kitchen (fridge, induction cooker, microwave, pans, and utensils). There was even Nespresso machine and pods. The facilities are modem and the place is clean. The staffs are friendly plus you can buy Ghent city card at the counter! You can walk to the old town in about 15 minutes or take the bus which is just a few minutes walk away from the hotel. Highly recommended and will definitely come back here.
TTravel WWThis hotel has nothing but the front desk. The room is not on the same floor as the front desk. In addition to the excellent location, there is no other recommended price is too low. I don't know how this is listed. Four stars.
GGiles LawrenceThe room was fine. We needed extra bedding and 2 nice staff came immediately and made the extra bed for us. However! We arrived with a reservation confirmation of 2 adults 1 child. Their confirmation had 2 people therefore the room they had was too small. They did have another room for 3 they said we could have but it would be 30 euros extra. At the time we simply agreed and paid as there was a big queue behind us and the amount was small. Buttons seemed like a con to extract more money from us, it wasn't our mistake as we had confirmation for 3 people at the designated price. It's a shame as I really liked Ghent and will certainly return but there are other hotels to choose from.
DDiane PHHands down best view from the room! Booked another night as I had a really good impression and experience - wish I had stayed longer! Bed is comfy and the room is...roomy enough. The ladies at the front were exceptionally accommodating for when I had issues checking out and checking back in. Staff is overall awesome! The only shower room is fairly well kept. For a small amount there will be everything that you will/might need: from towels, laundry/dryer, tea/coffee/beer/snacks, luggage storage, to kayaks. Didn't have to use the common kitchen but it seemed equipped. Really can't go wrong with the location - everything is within reach and the are is just simply beautiful day/night.
