A lovely little homestay, very convenient for visiting the Pollonaruwa ancient city. It’s not a tourist town but worth a visit for a taste of central Sri Lanka. The family were very helpful and welcoming, and both dinner and breakfast were delicious. It’s a bit of a distance from town but there’s a very nice walk along the lake that takes you right to the ticket office.
The hotel is located in Anuradhapura, with beautiful pagoda ruins visible across a large lake. The environment of the hotel is quite beautiful, and the swimming pool is also very good. The supply of buffet breakfast is not stable. We stayed for 4 nights in a row. Breakfast was buffet breakfast on two days and set meal on two days. The explanation given by the hotel was that the buffet breakfast was not open because the tour bus had left and there were too few people. Anyway, it’s quite interesting to have a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast. Picture 1 is the set breakfast we had (the portions were huge), and Pictures 2 and 3 are the buffet breakfast.
It was a pleasant place to stay fora couple of days. There was a problem when I arrived and I had to stay in a poorer quality room for the first night.
The hotel is in a good environment, facing the Great Lakes. There are unwashed small stains on the sheets. At night, I went to the hotel to recommend the boat trip to the lake to watch the birds and watch the sunset. It is a very rare experience. When I came back, it was already dark. The moon in the sky, the light of the hotel on the shore, and the chanting of the monks. . . The whole process of paddling by two young people is very hard and environmentally friendly. The next day, there was some unpleasantness at the checkout. The dinner expenses that had been paid by my husband were in the blink of an eye and the same fee-paying waiter planned to take the payment of my friend. . .
The location is good: half an hour walk from the bus station (2 km), 300 rupees (85 rubles) by tuk-tuk, this is the general price for such a distance throughout the country for reference. All the local infrastructure is along this very central road: a couple of supermarkets, ATMs, many shops with food, clothes, small items, a little further on a market and fruit trade. A side road leads to the hotel, the main landmark to it is the local hospital. At the corner of the turn to the hotel there is a local eatery, which was praised in reviews, we did not eat there, so I can not say anything, but the locals sat there every evening.
The hotel has a quiet road, large cars do not go there, a nice green area. We were immediately checked in. If necessary, they feed you breakfast, we had food from home with us, so we did not order breakfast. There is no kettle in the room, but upon request the hostess brings a large teapot with hot water and cups. There is no refrigerator in the room either, but the main thing is there is air conditioning. A complimentary bottle of water, there is a fumigator - turn it on right away. There is soap, shampoo, liquid hand soap.
The hotel offers a spa, an extensive entertainment program: transport rental, excursions, safari. We didn't use anything ourselves, we walked around on our own, but I took a photo with prices for information.
What you should consider:
- only one socket, take your own tee;
- a strong smell of mothballs in the bathroom, most likely either they are fighting insects, or the smell/mold from the pipes;
- the bathroom visually requires repair (mold stains, etc.), but most likely it will help for a short time, because this is the climate and you just need to put up with it and relax.

When I booked the hotel, I felt that the overall hotel in Sri Lanka was not cheap. I saw a hotel in Anuradpur without seeing the price + environment. I simply decided this one. The trial and error cost was low. I didn't expect it but it was quite good.
There are not many hotel rooms, the service can keep up, there is no decoration in the room, there are a lot of geckos outside, but there are no geckos in the room, no mosquitoes, this is very good. Hotel breakfast can choose Western and Sri Lankan (basically every hotel is like this), the weight is very sufficient. I think it's the king of cost performance.

VVarvaraStop for one night in the economy room. It is clear that for such a price it is not worth expecting anything substantial, but the mattresses were straight very bad, just a piece of fine poron, which is instantly sold to the most boards and in fact lie almost on boards. But it was all expected for such a price, so in general approx. Beautiful territory with garden and tables with views on the rice field.
What spoiled the impression: Breakfast! Ordered it extra because it did not go out in the cost of the housing, and I definitely don't recommend taking it in this place. This is not like a classic Lanca breakfast that is served in hotels of the same price category, and is twice as expensive as the same!
WWawayangI booked a suite with two floors. The hotel service was very good, with butler service and a very rich dinner. I booked an extra room and the hotel told me that I could stay with six people. I didn't expect that the suite was two floors. The hotel helped me cancel it for free on the spot. The hotel has a good view and there is a live band performance after dinner. The only shortcoming is that the hotel facilities are a bit old, especially the bathroom on the second floor of the suite is not ventilated, and the bamboo curtain is a bit moldy. The bathroom on the first floor of the suite is better ventilated. The balcony glass door is closed, probably because of the little monkey. It rained, and the ground was mossy and a bit slippery. The hotel occupancy rate is quite high. It takes more than 20 minutes to get to Shizi Rock.
瘦瘦小姐After visiting the ancient city, I checked in to the hotel. It is very close to the scenic area, and it is only a 10-minute walk. 570 / night, outdated facilities, rooms are relatively tide, the price difference between the previous night and the Candara Heritage Hotel is only one hundred, but it can not be compared, the cost performance is extremely low, it is not recommended to stay at all. The hotel is built next to a lake. This lake is said to be the largest lake in Sri Lanka. Before booking, I saw some wild elephants drinking water in the morning near the hotel lake, so I booked it without hesitation. I had imagined sitting on the balcony overlooking the lake and eating the noodles of the motherland, but I opened the balcony door and found that I could not see the lake at all, and was covered by the canopy. I ran to the lake in the evening to wait for the elephant to drink water. , The elephant did not come.
アアザラチI highly recommend this place for your stay in Polonnaruwa.
You can enjoy a delicious Sri Lankan breakfast on the terrace nestled in a quiet forest. A short walk away is a lake where you can stroll along the shore or watch the sunset.
The room was very comfortable, equipped with everything you need for your stay, including air conditioning and a hot water shower.
We only stayed one night due to our itinerary, but I recommend staying longer if you have the time.

SSean144415 minutes walk into town, so not a bad location. The room was very large with good AC and a mosquito net. The bathroom did have ants but would consider this a minor issue, overall the stay was good value.
CChiara Martina LoiThe property is located in front of the lake. Immersed in nature it is very suggestive.
We arrived around 6pm and unfortunately the pool closed at 6.30pm so we didn't have time to test it. They offer free spa service but massages are subject to charges.
The restaurant is well stocked with alcohol, you can eat discreetly buffet-style cuisine, both typical Asian and international, for around €15 per person. Breakfast is also a buffet; you can find sweet/savory products and freshly cooked eggs.
Our room (deluxe double) was very nice, on two levels: in the lower part the bathroom has a particular concept. A sliding door takes you directly into the room with a half roof covered only by a net. All very beautiful but impractical and above all there is the risk of finding many insects, as in our case.
In the upper part there is the bedroom, very comfortable.
The upholstery is not entirely clean and this contrasts with the entire structure.
