💥🇯🇵6 DAYS IN JAPAN📍 Sharing a travel plan for Tokyo and its surrounding areas DAY 1 — HELLO TOKYO We arrived in the morning, so today is a free day. The plan is to explore if we feel up to it, or just relax at a café while waiting to check in. We stored our luggage at the station and wandered around Ueno and Yanaka. After checking into the hotel and resting, we headed to Tokyo Tower at night. Despite visiting Tokyo three times, we had never been close to it, so we decided to stop by. DAY 2 — KAMAKURA Today, we ventured out of the city to Kamakura for the whole day. It's a charming seaside town with a relaxed atmosphere. It's possible to do a day trip from Tokyo, but we chose to stay overnight as we planned to visit Hakone the next day. We stayed near Ofuna Station for convenience. DAY 3 — HAKONE For nature lovers, Hakone is a must-visit. The natural scenery here is stunning. We enjoyed a pirate ship ride on Lake Ashi, with views of Mount Fuji, and took a cable car to see the Owakudani Valley, an active volcanic area with sulfur vents. It was a unique and refreshing experience. DAY 4 — STUDIO TOUR We had a slow morning and strolled around Akihabara, visiting Bic Camera to check out electronics. Initially, we planned to visit Meiji Shrine, a favorite spot we visit every time we're in Tokyo, but due to rain, we changed plans. Always have backup destinations! In the afternoon, we spent time at the Warner Bros. Studio Tour: The Making of Harry Potter. It's highly recommended for Harry Potter fans or movie enthusiasts. Allocate 4-5 hours to fully enjoy the detailed exhibits. On the way back, we stopped by Shinjuku for a quick walk. DAY 5 — TOKYO DISNEYLAND The entire day was dedicated to Tokyo Disneyland. We visited in December, so the Christmas decorations were adorable and festive. It was worth braving the cold and the tired legs. DAY 6 — ASAKUSA TOUR We started the day at Asakusa Station and toured the area. First, we took a bus to Matsuchiyama Shoden Temple, known among Thais as the "Radish Temple." Then, we walked to Imado Shrine (Cat Shrine) and Sensoji Temple. If we had any questions or didn't understand something, they even had a Thai-language guide that explained everything in detail 📝. Driving to Mount Fuji was very convenient. The roads were good and clearly marked, making the journey to Mount Fuji enjoyable and allowing us to stop and take photos along the way as we pleased 📸. This car rental experience was not only convenient but also allowed us to experience the beauty of Mount Fuji from a different perspective 💖. Rating: 5/5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

The path is shaded by lush greenery and the air is fresh, making the 20-minute walk a calming journey. Along the way, you'll pass by massive wooden torii gates, impressive sake and wine walls, showcasing a unique blend of Eastern and Western cultures that reflect the historical background of the Meiji era. Before praying, remember to cleanse yourself at the water pavilion—a simple process. I was lucky enough to witness a Shinto wedding ceremony that day, which was solemn and beautiful, captivating my attention. After praying, you can explore the area selling omamori (charms) and ema (wooden prayer plaques). They're reasonably priced and make great souvenirs to bring blessings home. Meiji Shrine has free admission, and it's recommended to set aside 1–1.5 hours to stroll leisurely. There’s no housekeeping during your stay, but you can email them if you need to dispose of trash. If you’re okay with this setup, this accommodation is a great choice. 📱 We booked our stay via the Trip.com app. Before your check-in date, you’ll receive an email to register your information. A QR code and door access code will be sent to you. Upon arrival, there’s a check-in counter where you’ll video call with staff and receive your room access code again. It might seem a bit complicated, but we found it convenient. If you prepare everything in advance, it’s hassle-free. If you don’t receive the email from the accommodation, it’s recommended to email them first (we’ve heard some people experienced issues with missing emails, causing check-in delays). 🚇 Located near Asakusa and not far from Skytree, the closest train station is Honjo-Azumabashi. 🛏️ The space is limited, so it’s not suitable for those with lots of luggage. It’s ideal for travelers who spend most of their day outside. We chose the twin bed option, which provided separate, spacious beds that were very comfortable. The bathroom is excellent, with a larger bathtub compared to typical budget hotels. The toilet is separate and fully automated. 💭 There’s no luggage storage service, so we used lockers at Asakusa Station and explored the area while waiting for check-in. The room has limited hanging space for clothes; adding 2-3 more racks would be great as it’s a bit challenging to hang clothes. The blinds had some dust, but overall, the place is quite new, comfortable, and offers great value for money.

On the way there, we had a layover in Da Nang, and on the way back, we stopped in Hanoi. It was like adding a mini airport tour to the trip. The value for money was excellent. You get 23 kg of checked baggage allowance, hot meals, and beverages served throughout the flight. The service was attentive and met high standards. 💥 We booked through the Trip app, which was user-friendly and provided timely updates. There were minor delays and a schedule change, but we were notified via the app, email, and even received a call from the staff. 🧑💻 You can pre-select meals and seats directly on the airline's website. (Seats in the front rows or prime locations come with an extra charge.) 🧳 Baggage allowance: 23 kg (checked) + 12 kg (carry-on) 🍽️ Free hot meals and beverages ✨ Overall, it’s worth it. Spending extra time at the airport can be tiring, but you can keep yourself entertained by reading, watching movies, or listening to music.

Villa Fontaine Grand Haneda Airport Hotel is undoubtedly the best choice for catching an early morning flight at Haneda Airport. Located inside Terminal 3 of Haneda Airport, it's directly connected to the shopping district via an air bridge from the arrivals hall on the 2nd floor – many advantages! 👍Advantages: 1) Airport trolleys can be easily taken from the airport to your room, so you don't have to worry about having too much luggage. 2) If you have items purchased online, they can be delivered directly to the hotel. The hotel has a dedicated cloak room where staff collect and store your belongings, so you don't have to worry about lost items. For example, when I tried to check in using the self-service machine, it wouldn't let me, and I had to contact hotel staff. It turned out I had left some items in the cloak room. The hotel's system reminds guests to retrieve their items – very thoughtful. 3) There are three main room areas: A, B, and C. After check-in, you'll be given a sheet indicating your area and room number. You need to swipe your room card to enter and exit, ensuring security. 4) Check-in and check-out were very quick. It only takes about 10-15 minutes to walk to the departure floor within the airport, so you don't need to worry about missing your flight. 5) The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with ocean views, and the facilities are new and very pleasant. 6) Generally, Japanese hotels are very strict about check-in times, and early check-in is not allowed. However, this hotel seemed to have already prepared the rooms in advance, and they notified passengers waiting in the lobby that they could check in before 3 pm, which was very thoughtful. There was also free coffee available in the lobby. Villa Fontaine Grand is definitely a hotel worth visiting again! PS. There is also a higher-end hotel in the same group, "Villa Fontaine Premier," in the same location, sharing the same lobby. Surrounded by greenery, the building stands out from typical hotels, resembling a stylishly designed residential complex, allowing travelers to seamlessly blend into the local community. What initially drew attention to this accommodation was not only its unique architectural design but also its developer, Staple, the team behind the transformation of an old bank into the K5 hotel. Having stayed at K5 before, I was deeply impressed by its space and overall experience. K5 later earned a Michelin One Star Key recognition, making it the only Michelin-starred hotel I’ve stayed at in Japan. Staple emphasizes "soft development," which begins with considering life, community, and human connections when designing spaces. They aim for travelers to immerse themselves in the neighborhood, whether it’s grabbing bread from the nearby Parklet Bakery, enjoying a glass of wine at the small wine shop timsum, or simply strolling through the streets to experience the daily life of locals. The hotel offers five types of rooms, and I stayed in the Queen Studio with a bathtub. Although the room was not large, the layout was well-planned, allowing two suitcases to be fully opened without feeling cramped. I was particularly fond of the stone-crafted hooks and door handles (even the keychain featured stone elements), the red-brick-colored platform, and the thoughtfully placed greenery. The antique interior was fun to browse, and the timeless feel left a lasting impression. However, smoking is permitted inside, so if you're sensitive to the smell of cigarettes, you might want to consider this. 📍 HOTORI This cafe is impressive for its warm owner and charming desserts. The overall atmosphere felt comfortable and familiar, reminiscent of a typical Korean cafe. It was a perfect place to take a break, a place that even calmed my mind. 📍 Ken's Coffee Shop This place is famous for its cat cappuccinos made with foam. The friendly staff and the artisan-like old man who personally prepared the cat coffee were particularly memorable. Not only was the appearance cute, but the coffee tasted even better than expected. My dream since childhood was to travel, and finally, it happened! I planned and traveled independently. I forgot to mention, we traveled in May. Go all out and then check out the next ticket! Pros: We got to see beautiful cities, the people, and the way of life in two cities. We got to visit places we wanted to go – totally worth it for my 26th birthday! Cons: The cost is quite high, and it's tiring if you only go for a week because you're visiting two cities. I recommend a 10-14 day trip. We took the Shinkansen, which I'll review next time, but trust me, you won't regret it! However, I recommend one trip per city, friends! That way you can see everything in each city. P.S. 1: The weather when we went was 15-23 degrees Celsius. Before going to places outside the city, check the weather forecast 1-3 days in advance. Take care of your health! #2026New Year's Eve January 2024 My first trip to Tokyo. I wanted to see as many places as possible, so I spent the whole day running around. I thought I'd exchanged money in advance and prepared thoroughly, but after I got there, I realized that using a card is much more convenient than cash. (I should just stick to card next time, haha.) 📍 Tokyo Station Calbee Plus Jagariko French Fries. They taste exactly as I imagined, but they're still delicious. Recommended for stopping by while exploring Tokyo Station Character Street! But it's not worth going out of your way to try just this. 📍 Sensoji Temple Since it was the beginning of the year, I tried my luck. It's a fun event, with good fortunes and bad fortunes, so you can just leave feeling lucky. It's worth trying once as a sightseeing experience. 📍 Karrigate Harajuku Karigate has now arrived in Korea. Even in Japan, prices are quite high, but the taste wasn't quite what I expected. In fact, the one I received tasted a bit burnt, which was disappointing. I won't be visiting again. 📍 SHIRO The price is reasonable, and it's a popular perfume brand in Japan, so if you're interested in fragrances, it's worth a visit. They have plenty of testers, so it's fun to try different scents. 📍 Ichiran Ramen It may seem common, but there's a reason it's still so popular. The flavor is smooth and not overpowering. I definitely recommend trying it at least once if you visit Japan, but the wait is long, so you might not need to go multiple times. 📍 Yoyogi Park A great park for a quick break in the middle of the city. It was the perfect healing spot to stop by during a busy schedule. 📍 Disney Sea The lines are incredibly long, so going late is not recommended. If possible, it's best to purchase a pass in advance to secure your rides. Passes sell out quickly, so I recommend buying them as soon as possible! ⸻ Since it was my first trip, I was a bit ambitious and crammed too many places into my schedule, so it was quite hectic, but it was still a truly enjoyable trip to Tokyo. However, Tokyo is always crowded, and waiting at restaurants is a given, so next time I'd like to explore with a more relaxed itinerary.

The biggest expense making a trip to Japan expensive is the airfare. A trick to booking cheaper flights is to book connecting flights.
