Castle Arch Hotel

Very friendly staff when I arrived and plenty of free parking. I got a spotlessly clean room with plenty of workspace, the coffee maker in the room is a nice touch. The hotel is only 10 mins walk from the town centre. As it was a quiet Tuesday night I ate in the hotel restaurant which was good value. Breakfast, included with the room, was served in the main restaurant and it was nice to have a freshly cooked fry up, not the usual lukewarm buffet most hotels seem to have now. Looking forward to staying again in a few weeks time.
Ardboyne Hotel

Overall The Ardboyne Hotel is a wonderful place. The location is excellent, lots of parking and gardens lovely. Inside the are many changes still my last visit. The new decor looks beautiful and I can see there are improvements being made throughout the hotel, not all complete as yet but obviously that whole hotel is going through an upgrade. The biggest asset this hotel has is its staff, there is nothing too much for them to do to make your stay as enjoyable as possible, this really is their jewel in the crown.

The Newgrange Hotel

We had our wedding reception here Oct 2024. Hotel was lovely, it had a modern but slightly rustic vibe (if that's a thing) the staff were ALL fantastic, but honorable mention to Nicola (wedding coordinator). The staff made sure the day ran effortlessly and the food was fantastic. (Regular) Rooms were nice, spacious and clean with the exception of some dirty grout in the bathrooms (it wasn't terrible just a bit grubby if your fussy) but pricing was very good for what you get. The bridal suite was immaculate and beautiful. It's in a good central location but DO NOT go to the pub/club over the road called ”the palace” as its a kip and the door men act disgracefully. (Go to the royal meath up on the right).. last thing worth noting is the parking area is SUPER TIGHT, low cars struggle and large estate/small suv style cars are a bit hard to get around in but it is manageable but is also multistory.. all in all a fantastic wedding experience in this hotel start to finish.
Trim Castle Hotel

Couldn't recommend Trim Castle Hotel enough. From the minute we booked our wedding with them they were a dream to deal with. We had an absolutely brilliant day and everything ran so smoothly from the very start. Big shout out to Laima and team for everything in the main room, everything was perfect and just ran so smoothly with no stress whatever. Another highlight of the day was Elvis behind the bar, the speed and quality in which he got through our guests orders was amazing meaning nobody was waiting any time at all for a drink, not only that but also a really lovely guy. Finally, a bit thank you to our wedding coordinator Lauren Skelton who went above and beyond for us from word go, nothing was too much hassle, she ensured everything was on time and going to plan which freed us up to have the brilliant day we did. Her service was a big reason we had such a wonderful day. We would recommend anyone looking for a special venue for their special day. Thanks again to all the team at Trim Castle hotel for giving us a day we won't forget.

The Johnstown Estate

As the title says there is lots of positives but def areas that need attention. Firstly the package was very expensive over €600 for 1 night b&b with 30 min rasul treatment in spa and dinner in restaurant for 2. I don't mind spending extra but when I do then I expect very high standards to go with it. It's handy to get to just off motorway but then the trade off is it's not the most scenic place. The accommodation : On arrival we were very kindly allowed check in a bit early as a room was ready. There was a wedding on so we weren't in the old part ( where possibly the nicer rooms are) the room had an adjoining door into the next room and was very small for a ”deluxe” room as quoted In the package. We went to reception to ask to be changed and very kindly this was obliged. However the room we were moved to was in my opinion in poor condition. The wear and tear was very obvious. The walls were dirty looking and scuffed there were poorly repaired plaster work . For the price this was not what I expected. We again went back to reception and on this occasion met a manager who assured us he would take care of things and apologised. He took us to a 3rd room which I think may have been slightly bigger but at this point a realised all the rooms had a significant amount of wear and tear so it was time to accept this. The bed and furniture was fine but again the walls were scuffed and plaster work poorly repaired and just painted over. The bathrooms are clean but dated looking. The bathroom tap on several occasions covered us and the floor with water when you barely turn it. The sink blocked and when I extracted the plug hole to empty water the plug was not a pretty site. The bathroom door was partially painted . The room door has lumps out of it and the frame. The spa: The spa is the major highlight and would be somewhere we would return to. The staff were so lovely especially the lady on the desk who fit in a treatment for us last min. The facilities are really lovely and the outdoor hydrotherapy pool again a gorgeous spot. We were given a complimentary glass of prosecco arranged I believe from the manager we dealt with over the room and a bottle was left in our room. This was a lovely gesture. Food: We had lunch in the coach house. We had a steak sandwich which was OK. The meat was nice but the bread was soggy. The included dinner in fire & salt was very nice I had the soup then steak and finally the chocolate fondant. I enjoyed everything. Unfortunately I started feeling unwell mid way through dinner so went back to the room before we got to try the cocktail bar or live music in bar. This was a shame as we would of loved to experience the cocktails. The venue looked lovely from the outside. Breakfast was again lovely. I had a hot breakfast but as I was wasn't feeling great didn't get to try the cold buffet. Overall it was lovely to get away as a couple a break from our very busy lives with work and 3 kids. I think t

With a little extra attention this.place would he fantastic but clean up... both in the thermal suites and in the restaurant at breakfast was slow... towels lying all over the place for hours in the spa and workers in with measuring tapes and work boots while people are in the pool.made it a a bit uncomfortable.

Beautiful hotel very old and Victorian Staff friendly and on point food and drink beautiful and reasonable. Stunning grounds and history. Downside - hotel is not disabled friendly far to many steps if on a chair or like myself limited mobility issues on a stick a lot of stairs to go to to get to reception then back down and across a court yard to rooms with again more stair to get up and down again and across courtyard for dinner and more stairs and back again for breakfast. They could do with making it more disabled friendly and maybe a little golf cart for transportation a round Stairs steep and windy .
