The hotel boasts an excellent location and fantastic views. We were allocated a corner room with a great outlook. We arrived early, and the male receptionist informed us we could check in at 1 PM. However, upon returning after lunch, a different female staff member, who offered no smile, insisted check-in wasn't until 3 PM. We noticed other guests checking in, some even without a credit card, which felt inconsistent. After I had to complain, we were finally allowed to check in, but then they demanded a credit card for a security deposit. The attitude of the Korean front desk staff was very frustrating and made us feel extremely uncomfortable, almost discriminatory. Otherwise, everything else was fine, and we had a very enjoyable day.
The accommodations were fantastic! The room was spacious and clean, and the ocean view was perfect!
The breakfast was delicious, too!
I'm so happy I visited, and I'll definitely be visiting this hotel again whenever I visit Gangneung.
It was a last minute reservation we have made to enjoy our national holiday and it surely was a great decision!
The location of this resort is in prime spot right next to the Dae-po dock where for the seafood lovers you are in for a delight of fresh and cost efficient sashimi and steamed crabs.
Not only that, the resort itself was very resourceful for the families who bring their youngs
- massive indoor playground
- arcade for the little gamers
- quiet family friendly walk way into the shorelines
- indoor water park
(Stopping here because my fingers hurt trying to write everything down!)
Lastly, the rooms were cleaned at exceptional quality with the ocean view.
Definitely coming back here next year!
Everything was clean and the staff was so polite. They didn’t rush me out of the room. The photos match the actual room so I was happy about that. The pool and views were amazing. Thank you so much. Will come again. I also loved the location as it’s easy for travelers without cars. I didn’t get a chance to have breakfast as I woke up late but hopefully next time 😊
The elevator was uncomfortably hot because the air conditioning wasn't working, and it felt especially cramped when it was full. This definitely needs improvement. However, the facilities were excellent and very comfortable, and the overall layout was well-designed. What's more, unlike the heated pool in Sokcho which had an unpleasant odor, Samcheok's was perfectly clean and odorless. I'd definitely love to go back.
The location is so good that I visit often~~^^
Even though it's old, I visit often because I like the beach walk.
I recommend the hotel because it's cleaner than the resort.
I especially recommend the ocean view even if it costs a little more.
It's worth it~~^^
I was in room 515, and the plaza was visible,
and the bathroom was relatively clean.
The location of the hotel was fantastic as it’s just next to the ski slopes. The hotel breakfast was good and the variety for the Korean dishes changes daily. There are a number of restaurants and convenience stores that are 5 mins away. The rooms are spacious and was comfortable to stay. The rooms may look dated but it’s very well maintained. The hotel staff were also able to converse in good English and checking in was easy. Would recommend this hotel for ski trips at alpensia.
The hotel is beautiful. There are nice restaurants within the hotel compound so you do not need to go anywhere. The view from the balcony was amazing (slop view). Amenities sufficient, room spacious. We took 2 of these rooms since we were 2 adults and 2 kids (12 years old). The beds are super single and 2 ppl sleeping on a bed is do-able or there is loads of space for an additional bed.
We didn't have bfast but a lot of restaurants and a CU within the hotel compound.
A word of advice, if you are coming from Seoul, stop at JINBU STATION and not Pyeongchang station. We made a mistake of going to Pyeongchang station which is far away and the cab will cost krw 60,000 per way. Jinbu station is just 5 minutes away.
Perhaps because it's relatively new, the rooms are in excellent condition. The view from the rooms facing the East Sea is truly breathtaking. The ocean is right in front, making it a great place for a stroll.
The location is also ideal, with major tourist attractions nearby, including Chodang Tofu Village, the Heo Gyun/Heo Nanseolheon Memorial Hall, and Ojukheon.
The parking lot is spacious and the lanes are wide, making parking convenient.
Excellent location with plenty to do. The water park was very convenient to use, and having a ranch-like attraction nearby was a definite plus. All the other facilities were also numerous and easy to access.

It was nice that there was a children's playground, an indoor pool, and a large hot spring bath. The child was very satisfied.
The dinner buffet had delicious snow crab and sashimi.
There were various activities on site, as well as a convenience store, restaurant, and cafe, so we could enjoy ourselves all day at the resort.
About 20 cm of snow fell in the middle of the night, but the staff worked hard to shovel it away, which was great.
There were mats laid in the pool to prevent slipping, but they were not all over the place, so the tiled parts were slippery, so please be careful if you have small children.
I asked for bed guards when I checked in, but they never came to install them.

GGuest UserRooms were pleasant, everything functioning nicely. Hotel is comfortable and reasonably well-organised. Around the resort there are places where poor signage and language difficulties may give pause for non-Korean-speaking travellers, but it's nothing that a smartphone and a little persistence can't overcome. Free shuttle buses to the close-by ski hill and two local towns are frequent enough. Staff are kind, considerate and helpful. Food on the mountain is basic but perfectly fine. Unless you are coming for the ****** specifically I wouldn't recommend the hotel in general. All facilities require extra charges and are cynically overpriced to rob more money from the punters, whose tinted-window executive cars arrive in droves. The less said about the buffet at the Grand Table the better. There is something very soulless about the High1 resort in general, and the strong corporate vibes give the place an eerie quality. The skiing is not so bad, although experienced riders will get bored after 2 or 3 days, unless a rare snowfall increases the fun. That said, the resort's snow-making abilities are quite impressive. If you are someone who gets irritated by poor piste etiquette, don't come here. At any given time half of the riders will be in the process of falling over, will have already fallen over, or will be chatting sat in the middle of the fairway. Try not to imagine anything in the way of apres-ski. As a solo traveller bored of watching the ****** donkeys shift about the hotel, I went searching in the local towns for a bar. It was a depressing failure. I read the resort was intended to bring money to the depressed mining towns of Sabuk and Gohan, but seemingly it has turned these places into a succession of garishly presented empty restaurants and ”Thai massage” joints, the latter being a favourite of the aforementioned tinted-window crowd.
GGuest UserThe Sokcho Cassia Hotel, which we visited for our wedding anniversary trip, was located in Daepo Port, and we could see both the port and the sea from the veranda of the accommodation. It was on the 25th floor, and when we went in, there was a slight musty smell from the bathroom shower room, so we took off one star for cleanliness! The breakfast here was 66,000 won, which was expensive compared to other accommodations, so we had high expectations, but there weren't many options for the price. Weekends are divided into three parts, and you can choose on a first-come, first-served basis when you check in. I think the checkout time was 11:00, but we checked out right after 8:00 after the first part of the breakfast to avoid traffic.
22022년 호랑이 해I booked a quadruple suite.
I booked it because the promotional photos looked great, and I was satisfied with the location near the terminal, so I booked it.
After checking in, I realized that the bedroom was spacious for four people, and the living room was perfect.
The air conditioning worked well, and the Styler was perfect, so I could really relax.
The coffee and tea were also great!
Disposable items aren't provided these days, so just bring those.
Just right! There were plenty of towels too.
Ahaha~~~ The fridge was a bit small for its size, but it only held eight 500ml water bottles.
It's close to restaurants, bars, and convenience stores, so I'll definitely be back.

I'm so happy I visited, and I'll definitely be visiting this hotel again whenever I visit Gangneung.
GGuest UserThe room is spacious, has 2 bathrooms and toilets make usage convenient for a family. We stayed there because we went skiing in Elysian so it’s 15 min drive. I don’t think it’s very accessible by public transport.
Interior design is a bit strange, combining colorful and traditional wooden bulky furniture, the wall is painted black and there is only one small window in the big living room so the feeling is dark, and the led light hanging on the second floor fence don’t work. So I would say facility and hygiene is just ok , but the price kind of explain this, so it’s acceptable.
HHeiTravellersPros
Easy access by paid shuttle bus from Seoul which stops at tower B.
The suites unit is spacious with 2 bedrooms & 2 bathrooms ( eventhough the master bathroom is wet type) & living room. Sparkling clean.
There are plates, bowls, mugs & cutlery sets in the room.
Microwave in common area near lift.
Some staffs speak English.
Tower B is centralized with eateries, supermarket, sauna, farmacy, bowling table tennis, karaoke, etc at the basement and underground link to Ski Park & Snowy Land.
Great place to spend for holiday with plenty of facilities/activities for all ages
Cons:
No luggage storage before check in & after check out.
Need to pay locker service for the storage.
Only small towels are provided but I think it is kind of Korea Hotel standard practices
Cleaning on alternate day & need to make a call for it.
2 water bottle are provided despites booking for 5 pax
To note:
We booked shuttle bus service online through Trazy application. The bus stopped at a rental shop before reaching Vivaldi Ski Park. We rented helmet( ₩10.000/day), goggle(₩ 10.000/day) & helmet with sun visor ( ₩ 20.000/day) from there.
We regretted it so much after found out that the rental price at the Vivaldi Ski Park ticketing it much cheaper.
Goggle is only ₩5.000 for 8 hours which is more than enough for Skiing in 1 day.
GGuest UserThe location of the resort was fantastic, ski in ski out. The staff gave us a room with 4 beds and a kitchen so everyone got a bed instead of having 2 of us sleep on the floor. The condo was warm and had everything we needed. There were lots of space and definitely big enough for a family of 4 with 5 suitcases. The breakfast was super and the restaurants there provided the variety needed for the 4d5n. In addition, there were more food choices in the skiing area. They have a carpark in the basement and we didn’t move our hired car the whole duration. The cleaner only came in to give us towels and they never cleaned the room though. They only had a handful of hangers so it was just enough for the ski coats. Only new little towels were provided, but we knew ahead of time so we brought our own big towels. For what we paid, I am extremely pleased with what we got. If we do come back to this ski resort, we will definitely stay here again.
MMartha77Located in front of Gangmun Beach and surrounded by pine trees, this hotel offers great advantages due to its proximity to Gangneung Station. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to many tourist spots, has friendly and helpful staff, offers reasonable prices, and for those who prefer not to go anywhere, St. John Hotel offers many amenities that encourage longer stays. I will definitely return.
