The Langham, Boston: sleep inside the city's banking history

The Langham occupies one of Boston's most characterful luxury buildings. Built in 1922 as the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, the protected landmark still carries the scale and authority of its original purpose.

That history is not limited to the facade. Grana sits in the former grand banking hall beneath soaring ceilings, and the hotel's art collection repeatedly returns to Boston, finance and the building's past. The result feels specific to the city rather than like a luxury hotel that could exist anywhere.

Room choice changes the experience. The Premier and park-view rooms suit a shorter cultural stay. The bi-level Loft Suite gives the property a more residential rhythm, while the Vault Suite is the category that most directly connects to the banking story. Club Rooms and Suites include access to The Langham Club on the eighth floor.

The location in the Financial District is practical for the Old State House, Faneuil Hall, Rowes Wharf, the waterfront and South Station. It is particularly useful if you want historic Boston and the harbour within one compact route.

Grana is the brighter daytime restaurant. The Fed is the moodier evening choice for cocktails, and its seasonal Rose Garden Terrace adds an outdoor option when the weather works.

Best for: architecture, history, art, family city breaks and walkable sightseeing.

Would you choose the Loft Suite or the Vault Suite?
