The location is fantastic, about 200 meters from the subway station, and only two stops from Helsinki Central Station. The self-service check-in was very convenient with an English interface, and there's also customer service on the first floor. Both check-in and check-out were seamless. The room was very clean; we booked a family room, which was a bit small for two families but still adequate. On the first floor, there's an open kitchen, coffee machine, water dispenser, dishwasher, laundry room, shared desks, and a dining area, so you can easily prepare your own food. The price is also very good value for money in Helsinki. About 300 meters downhill from the hotel, there's a large supermarket and a lake, and the surroundings are beautiful. I even went for a run by the lake on the first morning – it was very chill.
The breakfast was amazing! In the restaurant I was sad to see they only had one server in the restaurant she seemed to be working very hard but it took a long time to get our bill. I’d like to see them utilise the outdoor area more because it’s very nice. The front desk were very attentive
I was only informed that the morning sauna was free, so I paid to use the sauna at night. However, I’m now wondering if guests staying at the hotel were actually allowed to use the sauna at night for free as well, since I heard that other guests using the sauna didn’t pay.
it’s amazing that you can stay at a hotel with a sauna included for this price.

I recently stayed at Valo Hotel and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The hotel strikes a perfect balance between modern design and cozy comfort. The rooms were impeccably clean, well-designed, and equipped with everything I needed for a relaxing stay. I particularly loved the smart layout, which maximized the space without compromising comfort.
The staff were friendly, attentive, and always ready to assist with any queries or special requests. The location was also a big plus—conveniently situated close to key attractions, public transport, and great dining options.
One standout feature was the wellness area. The sauna and fitness facilities were top-notch, offering the perfect way to unwind after a long day. The breakfast buffet was equally impressive, with a wide variety of fresh and delicious options catering to different tastes and dietary preferences.
Overall, Valo Hotel provided an excellent stay that exceeded my expectations. Whether you're traveling for business or leisure, I highly recommend it for its quality service, comfortable ambiance, and great amenities. I’m already looking forward to my next visit!

Excellent central location and good value for money. The room is quite spacious, featuring a sleeping area and a separate seating/dining area with a table and chairs. It's not luxurious, but it serves its purpose well if you're on a budget. It's clean and safe. Everything is managed via codes, meaning there's no reception or staff on-site.
Overall very satisfied, very new, clean, convenient and quiet. The two major churches of the main attractions are within 5 minutes walk, and there are 5 minutes from the pier. It is estimated that it will take 10 minutes to walk from the Central Railway Station. It is very convenient! I like his sauna the most, it is really good! The smoked salmon for breakfast is a bit salty, but it is packed with lettuce and sour cucumber. It is very suitable. The dining environment is very good. It is close to the beach. Helsinki at the end of April still needs to wear down jackets.
The hotel is very good and the environment is very good, but the hotel is a bit old. The sea view room has a very beautiful view, but I forgot to book breakfast. Breakfast is 30 euros per person, which is a bit expensive!
Very clean and tidy hotel, very close to Aalto University, it is a serviced apartment, there is a supermarket downstairs, the requirements reserved when booking the room were arranged very satisfactory, there are also entertainment venues on the first floor, billiards, sauna, public kitchen, public meeting room, gym, very convenient and safe, opposite is the supermarket, buying food is also very convenient, the hotel is very cost-effective, next time I will choose here

The hotel's location is excellent, right across from the STOCKMANN department store. There's a tram stop directly in front of the hotel, offering a one-stop ride to the central train station or a few stops to the cruise terminal. The hotel has its own bar and restaurant, but unfortunately, it's closed on Sundays. Be aware that some basement rooms have no windows, and some rooms are located in a back building, requiring a transfer elevator and a bit of a walk down the hallway – so make sure to ask for clarification. During my two-day stay, I encountered several guests who couldn't find their rooms. The hotel's facilities, cleanliness, and room layout are all good. A great bonus for East Asian travelers is the in-room kettle and a variety of tea and coffee options. The breakfast is rich and offers many choices, perfect for those who enjoy Western cuisine. Taking a ride in the small, ninety-year-old elevator is quite an experience, haha!
Executive club room is on 9 floor, very quiet area. The is cozy and superior clean. We lived there for a week and really enjoyed every thing. Especially the house keeper, Auwan, is very nice and professional person. He is always smiling and kind when we meet him. We are pretty much sure that his work in quality is the best that we have ever experienced. Highly recommend this hotel with great management.

GGuest UserGood value art deco hotel for a three night stay. Exceptional breakfast. Not very helpful pre advice about location. So…
If you are coming from Helsinki port (eg ferry from Tallinn), get the tram 7T to Kaisaniemenpuisto. Then a short walk to the hotel. Tap and pay at the ticket machine for €3.20 one way, zone AB.
From Helsinki airport, get the train to Helsinki main train station, 33 mins, tap and go, zone ABC. To get there walk down the road for 7 to 10 mins; contemplate some cobbled streets when wheeling luggage, but not an issue.
NB Helsinki Kampii is the main BUS/COACH terminal that you may use to go to Porvoo for a wonderful daytrip; a bit more of a walk from the Arthur Hotel ( use Google maps). Not to be confused with the Art Deco train station. All are walkable.
Finally, a visit to Suomenlinna (zone AB tap & go) is recommended along with Senate Square/the Cathedral & the Russian Cathedral.
Great restaurant for Finnish food and beer under €7 is Ravintola Kolme Kruunua. Lovely shops at the harbour stalls & Craft Corner. Take a walk down the Esplanade.
HheidiOverall, my recent stay with Bob W was disappointing.
I booked the 4-person penthouse room primarily for the use of the sauna on my last day of the trip.
Firstly, pin code provided was only valid for door access to the stairs, not door to the elevator side at night. This became a significant inconvenience, especially for a female traveler like myself who arrived at night after a tiring flight. Having to carry a 20kg luggage and a 10kg carry-on up five flights of stairs was both physically demanding and frustrating. Clear arrangements on how to access the elevator at night should have been considered for guest.
Secondly, check-in process was not clearly communicated, causing panic upon arrival. Unfortunately, I had to seek help from customer service on a third-party booking site and reach out via email to obtain a check-in link, which added unnecessary stress and confusion.
Furthermore, instruction for turning on the sauna were unclear, and I was unable to enjoy it until the next morning at 8am, just few hours before my checkout time. I had specifically chosen the penthouse room with the sauna for a relaxing and enjoyable experience. due to the lack of clear instructions, and had to seek assistance to figure out how to operate it properly, which ate into the limited time I had available to enjoy the amenity.
In conclusion, my stay with Bob W fell short of my expectations. The limited time to enjoy the amenities, issues during the check-in process and accessing the elevator, made for a less than satisfactory experience. I hope that Bob W seriously takes feedback into consideration and makes the necessary improvements to ensure a more enjoyable stay for travelers in the future. Thank you
11822178****The free buffet breakfast is a great perk, and the ambiance is lovely! Definitely recommend. It offers excellent value for money, and luggage storage is available, which is really convenient. Check-in was super easy – just needed my passport number. Plus, its central Helsinki location means getting around is a breeze.

CCCBy far, one of my favorite hotel in the world. It was well equipped with everything you need and it feels like home. Location is a sweet spot of central, 10 mins walk to the wheel and Harbour.
Room was clean and easy check in and out. Lobby has board games for entertainment.
GGuest UserThe hotel is in an excellent location, more than 300 meters from the central railway station (direct access to the airport), and the Helsinki Central Library and Concert Hall are within walking distance; the front desk and staff are very friendly; the hotel is an old building, all on the 5th floor, but not on the same level, but the sign system is very well done, and guests are not easily lost; the breakfast is very rich, buffet + a la carte, the taste is very good, breakfast starts at 7:00, the hotel prepared a simple breakfast for early risers at 4:00, which is heartwarming; the hotel has a sauna and Finnish bath, which are really refreshing when you return to the hotel in the evening; there are steps at the front entrance of the hotel, but there is a special elevator at the back door of the hotel that can directly lead to the road ground; the details are considered very thoughtfully and are satisfactory; the only shortcoming is that there is no traditional wardrobe.

PPing HooWe stayed at Scandic Grand Central Helsinki and loved its unbeatable location — it’s right next to the central train station, which is super convenient for travelers. The room was decent in size, and we really appreciated that the bathroom had a bidet, which was a nice touch. However, the cleanliness of the room could have been better, as it didn’t feel properly cleaned upon check-in. The biggest downside was the hotel’s accessibility — there’s no shortcut or direct access for guests to reach the train station, so we had to walk all the way around every time. Moreover, the main entrance doesn’t have a ramp, which made it very inconvenient for guests with strollers or heavy luggage. We had to take a side lift to get in, which was quite troublesome. Overall, great location but disappointing accessibility design.
MmharsnEasy transportation to city center, with plenty of bars and a few grocery stores nearby. Staff is helpful and they have fans you can bring to the room. Large kitchens to cook in. Bathrooms aren't great, but they are reasonably clean and functional, with soap provided. They have social activities planned. It's a good value.
VVon30Overall stay was ok. However room design was very weird. Bathroom floors were not heated which wasn’t great during the cold weather. Tried calling reception several times to request for an extra heater as the room heating wasn’t sufficient. Nobody answered and had to go down to reception to request for one. Funny thing is even the reception staff was not aware if it was available.
I have never been to a hotel where the staff at reception would answer me with “I don’t know” or I’m not sure, I need to check. Breakfast spread was good with many choices.
