Paul RtptRRoom 554: Great View, but Keycard Was Deactivated Before Check-out Time
I booked the room for around USD 68.06 per night, excluding breakfast. When making the reservation, I requested a higher-floor room away from the lift with a good view. I was assigned Room 554, a twin room on the right side of the building, close to the stairs. The room had a very nice mountain view.
Overall, the room was clean and well maintained. The beds and pillows were quite soft and comfortable, although the beds were a bit small. The bathroom in the twin room is fully enclosed, so there is no glass wall overlooking the bedroom, which I actually found to be a plus when sharing the room with a colleague or friend. There was no bathtub. Shaving kits were also not provided in the room and had to be requested from the reception desk.
**Food & Catering: the snacks served during the coffee breaks were fairly basic and, personally, I did not find them particularly impressive. On the first morning, chicken satay was served as one of the snack options. On the second day, rambutan and longan were provided. Unfortunately, I happened to take one piece of fruit that was already spoiled.
Lunch was arranged by the meeting organisers and consisted of Lao food. The taste was fairly ordinary for me. One dish I remember was Luang Prabang-style papaya salad, but the smell was quite strong. The sticky rice was individually wrapped in plastic bags. The portions were also more than sufficient, although most of the dishes seemed to consist mainly of meat, so there was not much variety in terms of vegetables.
The main issue: I stayed at the hotel for two nights because I was attending a two-day meeting there, but I made separate bookings for each night. On the first night, I stayed in Room 218.
I understood that the check-out time was 12:00 noon. On the day of check-out, my meeting finished shortly before noon, so I returned to my room at around 11:54 to collect my belongings before checking out.
However, when I tried to use my keycard at around 11:54, I found that it had already been deactivated, even though it was still before the stated 12:00 check-out time.
I mentioned this to the housekeeping staff nearby. She contacted reception and asked me to go to the front desk. When I explained the situation, the staff told me that the keycard system automatically deactivates the cards at around 11:30.
I was quite surprised by this because, in all the hotels I have stayed at before, a keycard normally remains valid until the official check-out time, or guests are at least informed in advance if the card will be deactivated earlier.
This incident did not ruin my stay, but I hope the hotel can review its keycard policy and either keep the cards active until the stated check-out time or clearly inform guests that the cards will be deactivated earlier.

The room was spacious and had a balcony, very clean and tidy. There's a small pool downstairs, and the overall environment is lovely. You can enjoy beautiful sunsets from the rooftop terrace. The front desk service was warm and attentive, though I needed a translation app to communicate – it would be even better if they had staff who spoke Chinese. Overall, it's a good hotel.

ChuanqunqunchuanqunqunThis place is a bit of a distance from the main hotel street downtown. You'll need to pay a bit extra for a tuk-tuk if you're coming from the train station. However, we really enjoyed our stay; it felt very comfortable and relaxing. They offer a welcome gift upon check-in, which adds a nice touch. Right outside the hotel, there's a boat dock where you can take a very gentle boat ride to see water buffalo – I think it's definitely worth experiencing. It's also not too far to walk to the night market in the evening.

My friend and I recently enjoyed a stay at this hotel in Vang Vieng, and it truly was an unforgettable experience. The hotel offered a breathtaking view that set the perfect backdrop for our getaway. One morning, we were treated to the magical sight of hot air balloons drifting across the sky, adding an extra layer of wonder to our stay.
The location couldn’t have been better, providing easy access to local restaurants and cultural sights. The friendly and attentive staff ensured our comfort throughout our visit, making us feel right at home. If you’re looking for a mix of scenic beauty and warm hospitality, this hotel in Vang Vieng is an excellent choice.

The stay was okay, but unfortunately the staff were not very friendly and didn’t even greet guests, which made me feel unwelcome. Also, the prices for renting a scooter were almost twice as high as at other places nearby. Overall, it was fine, but I expected a warmer atmosphere and fairer prices.

Anonymous UserThis hotel is in an excellent location, right in the heart of Vang Vieng. If you're coming by the Laos-China railway, just hop on the green public minibus and tell the driver to drop you off at Ruby Mountain. It's only about a 10-minute ride. It's also close to motorcycle rental shops, so you can easily zip around the city. We rode to the Blue Lagoon and Pha Ngern viewpoint – the weather was amazing! The room was clean, the bathtub was comfortable, and the room had a pleasant fragrance. The TV could access YouTube, and there was a hairdryer. All the amenities provided were excellent. Highly recommended! The staff are Chinese and Black, and they communicate well in English. It made traveling around so easy. I loved it!

Absolutely amazing stay - it's clear that the owners take pride in their hotel. The pool and pool area is incredibly clean. The breakfast is fantastic, fresh fruit (varied and lots of it) contained in a fridge (so fresh, cold and no bugs like a lot of other hotels). Option of cooked breakfast every morning (eggs your way). The gentleman running the hotel is so helpful, he booked several tours for us, getting us a good price and being patient when we changed our plans several times. The communal areas are incredibly clean, the staff are always working hard doing something for the hotel. The location is excellent - walkable to everything in Vang Vieng, near some nice restaurants (Green, Vela, beats and bites). Everything in the room worked perfectly. The shower had great pressure and great temperature. Bed was extremely comfortable and the TV was loaded with apps to watch TV (we used Plex as it had English language shows and films). The bathroom has soap, shampoo and fresh towels daily. The rooftop is amazing, we actually used this instead of going to rooftop bars. The hotel sells beer in the fridge at reception.
Highly highly recommend this hotel.
Genuinely we could not find any fault with this hotel at all, we over heard many guests booking to stay extra nights expressing how happy they were with the stay at the hotel and the breakfast.

This hotel is too far from the night market, and the biggest draws of Vang Vieng are its outdoor activities and the lively night market atmosphere. All outdoor activity bookings and arrangements are near the night market, so I feel this hotel is more geared towards locals on vacation. Tuk-tuks were unwilling to go there, and the hotel's shuttle service cost an extra 300,000 KIP for two days of round-trip transfers. (Even the green buses from Vang Vieng train station and day tour pickups don't accept such long distances and will incur additional charges).

HeiressjloIts a nice hotel overlooking the Nam Song River with the nice view of Vang Vieng mountain ranges. However, its an old hotel and most of the tourists are chinese. One good thing is that its very accessible to the main street where you can book activities for paramotoring etc. Also, breakfast is good and quite filling, loved the soup. Overall, a good place to stay for a good price, esp that I was able to enjoy the view of the hot air balloons flying in the comfort of my balcony. View = superb 💯

Very nice and clean. The bed is comfortable and the wifi is strong. There's more than enough deck chairs around the pool and on the rooftop to lounge at, and to watch the countdown fireworks that the staff launch from the entrance.
The staff is very friendly and welcoming every time I walk past the lobby. The location is very convenient and the breakfast is very worth the price. Other than the buffet on offer (which rotates daily), you can still choose an item off the ala carte menu. They also allow refilling of water bottles at breakfast, which is great for both the wallet and the environment.
Activities and laundry service that they offer are also priced pretty conveniently. I'll definitely stay here again should I come back to Vang Vieng.
