Silvermine Beach Resort

Islands District
The room was right under some sort of fan/mechanism that had a really awful noise, so I couldn’t sleep well. As a bonus, there was a man next room with an added noise layer of terrible snoring. After the engineer came to confirm that the fan noise cannot be fixed, the receptionist offered a room change. The new room was less noisy. In general, the hotel is definitely not a bargain for the services it offers, however, it is acceptable for a change of city view.

Mong Kok
Overall, the hotel feels quite new compared to the usual hotels in Kowloon which can be relatively old. Quite a good sized room with a nice view for the price, especially in Hong Kong. Check-in on a Sat afternoon was a little chaotic but understandable given the volume. The hotel is connected directly to the mall which is very convenient. There’s an MTR (Mongkok East) exit into the mall too. To get to Nathan Road etc., might be best to take a walk as it’s a bit of a detour to take the East Rail Line MTR to connect to Tsuen Wan Line MTR.

Good size room for Hong Kong standards, free shuttle bus to shopping centre and MTR station. It’s about 7 minutes walk from Tai Wo Hau station just walk across footbridge and turn left, walk about 7mins. Breakfast was Ok.

This was the warmest welcome I’ve felt in a long time at a hotel! The check-in was super easy, and the staff were very helpful. Michelle Lau (or Yau), Jun Wong, and a “Tall Girl” (that’s what she wanted to be called when I asked) were ALL very helpful. Michelle was particularly helpful as she asked her supervisor if I can stay in the same room and not have to move (since I had to extend my stay). This saved me a lot of time! To top it all, the receptionist on my last day allowed me to check out late (at 1:00p), which also allowed me to have my important conference call. On my last day, I needed help with my three pieces of luggage, within minutes a staff member came to help me. Then Jun Wong arranged to allow my luggage to stay in the lobby (secured) for a good 3 hours until I was ready to leave. A very great experience and will definitely stay again!

The hotel is very nice and clean my kids were very happy , the staff was very friendly and nice! The only sad thing was that day Was my son’s birthday and they gave him a button so everyone can know was his birthday, we were expecting at least a small gift in the park or something , he didn’t got even a cake ( he got a towel cake) my son was very sad, we couldn’t find a real cake around there and the hotel can make it but with 2 days in advance! We were expecting that they can give us a real cake , not a small cake made of towel! Anyway we enjoyed our time in the hotel
The Salisbury YMCA of Hong Kong

Tsim Sha Tsui and Kowloon West
The hotel and its furnishings are dated and worn. The hotel is showing age stress and obsolescence. The drapes, carpets and lampshades were stained and the chairs threadbare. The bathroom was functional, but very dated and in need of renovation. The staff did their best to maintain cleanliness. The location was exceptional and the price was fair. The was a partial harbor view. The Haven restaurant offered basically the same limited breakfast buffet with little variation or enthusiasm.

It was a great experience overall. We reached the hotel at around 2 PM, but they couldn't check us in due to the Microsoft outage. There was a lot of confusion among other visitors, and the lobby was packed with people waiting for the check-in to start. I appreciate the front desk associate Abegail keeping her calm and composed smile, asking if we had lunch and, if not, to come back after lunch for check-in. The place was right next to the Nathan Road exit of East Tsim Sha Tsui MTR. That means it is next to Chungking Mansion for all things Indian. So we went to a restaurant inside Chungking Mansion, and by the time we got back, there was a long queue for check-in. Although the line was long, the front office staff quickly processed the check-ins. Mine just took 3 mins by the same front desk staff - Abegail. She also mentioned that I was getting an upgrade because all the Premium rooms with two double bed options were already occupied. We went to the room and it was awesome! The room was clean, and the pillows were named ”firm” and ”soft” so we could choose which to use. The room had an air purifier. Then, we opened the curtain to a scene showing Hong Kong's reality. While as a tourist, we are usually only privy to the better scenery of the place, we were looking at how cramped the living conditions were in Hong Kong. But to the left of our window was a bell tower and a garden; behind that was the Victoria Harbor *****. The best part of the hotel is the location and proximity to MTR, which allows you to visit all the places.

I enjoyed my stay in my spacious room which has a balcony with outdoor table and chairs. My room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Transportation was convenient…they have coach bus from the airport bus terminal that takes you directly to the hotel in about 30 minutes. Last but not the least, the beach was beautiful and relaxing with some very nice restaurants. I will definitely book this hotel again!

Hung Hom and Kowloon City
I traveled to this hotel few times before but I will base my comparison/review on last time in Sept 2023. Overall the hotel is really nice and amenities are good but the level of service has dropped significantly since my last stay. The check in/check out times can be up to 90 minutes, the staff is very slow and there and not a lot of stations to check in during “rush” hours (12/15). The staff clicks endlessly on their keyboard and nothing comes out of it. Since it was Chinese valentines I wanted to surprise my gf with some flowers - the reception staff said it’s impossible because you need to book flowers two days in advance and the florist is closed. In a hotel with this many stars I expect better solutions. They offered some sweets later but in the end I had to search for the florist myself and buy the flowers. I booked massage on the day of departure for two persons 90 mins (around 3500 hkd) and the only time available was 11.30. So I asked at the reception of the possibility of late checkout - the lady said and I’m quoting “you can checkout in the morning”. I was astonished. I asked to confirm the possibility with manager. The hotel called the spa to confirm if I’m not lying and reluctantly agreed to late checkout. Last time when I was in that hotel this wouldn’t have happened. The staff reception is rude and robotic. Maybe expect Sera which was great. The staff at the gym greeted me with “hey man” - I expect at such hotel to be welcomed “good morning sir” or such I’m not your friend but a customer. During the massage the masseuse was laughing when I started snoring a bit - awfully unprofessional. Room service is quick and the food portions are large but the it tastes bland. Room are quite clean but the smudges on the windows weren’t cleaned for the whole duration of our stay. Overall I have to rethink if I ever want to come back again.
