I had an excellent stay at Holiday Inn Express Macau. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
The hotel exceeded my expectations with its comfortable rooms, clean facilities, and convenient location. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made the whole stay pleasant. The room was cozy and well-maintained, providing a relaxing space after a day of exploring.
I also appreciated the overall service, the smooth check-in experience, and the thoughtful amenities. It was a great choice for a comfortable and hassle-free stay in Macau.
Definitely a 5/5 experience — I would happily stay here again and recommend it to others.
I stayed in Macau for two days and one night, and their service really left a deep impression on me. The front desk lady who checked me in was so patient and accommodating. She saw I had two kids with me and it was our first time here, so she pulled out a map and explained everything in detail, even marking it with a pen. It was really thoughtful, I just didn't catch her English name! The cleanliness? Fantastic! It was super clean, my son even said the floor was so shiny you could see your reflection.
In late May, I took a ferry from Hong Kong's Sheung Wan pier to Macau's Outer Harbour Ferry Terminal, then walked 20 minutes to the Rio Hotel. The hotel strictly enforces its 3 PM check-in policy, and there were many guests waiting to check in at that time, so we all had to queue up. The standard room was very spacious (much more so than Hong Kong hotels). I booked the hotel through Trip.com for an average of CNY 450 per night, which included breakfast for two (the breakfast was decent and suited to average tastes). The hotel is very close to Macau's famous landmark, the Ruins of St. Paul's, and is within walking distance. After checking out this morning, I stored my luggage and spent most of the day exploring Taipa. To get back to mainland China via the Gongbei Port, you can hitch a ride on the shuttle bus from the neighboring hotel.
I visited Taiwan in 2019, and now that I've explored Hong Kong and Macau, I've checked off all the boxes for my travels!
Absolutely fantastic!
**Amenities:** The retro style is amazing, and the light switches are a unique touch – very Instagrammable! You can totally have a photoshoot in the room, haha.
**Cleanliness:** Spotless! The cleaning staff were very thorough and friendly.
**Environment:** Superb! The decor is wonderful, and the location is excellent – very lively. The hotel is right behind the Ruins of St. Paul's, which is bustling with people and food stalls. It's even more lively and has better food than Rua do Cunha!
**Service:** I can't praise it enough! Both front desk staff members I encountered were incredibly professional and enthusiastic. There's even a staff member on the ground floor who opens the door and directs you to the 4th-floor lobby for check-in (it's a bit unconventional). On the 4th floor, another staff member helps you with the elevator. The check-in process was so convenient and welcoming.
**Breakfast:** The service and ambiance were great, but the food itself was just okay, nothing particularly mind-blowing. On a side note, I followed the hotel's recommendations in their little booklet and tried a noodle shop nearby – it was SO good! Small place, but authentically delicious (at least, I really loved it! 😋)
Overall, I'd recommend this place. Some room types even have washing machines, and the views from the higher floors are excellent. However, there were a few minor downsides:
1. The bathroom's mouthwash cup had a bottom-heavy design, making it unstable to pick up. It fell into the sink and shattered instantly. When I called room service to report it, they didn't even ask if I was hurt, just immediately charged me 60 for the broken cup. This felt a bit short-sighted and really soured my stay.
2. On our first day, the floor had a lot of long hairs that hadn't been cleaned up. I figured the cleaning staff might have been tired and overlooked it, so I didn't bother mentioning it to the front desk. Still, it was a bit off-putting.
3. This last point isn't related to the hotel, but I have to vent: When we landed at the airport, the taxi driver not only took a detour but then, to my absolute surprise, tried to charge me Macanese Pataca at a 1:1 exchange rate with WeChat Pay in RMB. Unbelievable!
There were two things I was happy with, and two things I wasn't.
This was our first time in Macau. We’ve stayed in many 5-star hotels before, so we didn't have high expectations, but Studio City Macau pleasantly surprised us. When I booked on Trip.com, I mentioned it was for a birthday celebration and asked if the hotel could arrange a birthday setup or cake, but I didn't receive any reply. At check-in, the front desk didn't seem aware of this request either. However, I must highly commend Marco from the front desk; he added 80 points to our experience at this hotel! 👍🏽 After hearing my request, Marco proactively arranged for the decorations to be set up after we left the room, asked what time I wanted the cake delivered, and then even extended our check-out time, adding, “The most important thing is to have fun.” Marco felt genuinely friendly, not like the jaded or robotic staff you sometimes encounter at other 5-star hotels. He showed genuine warmth and was very patient in answering our other questions. Furthermore, every request we made via the in-room phone was met with polite, patient, and accommodating service from the staff, which truly made us feel at home.
The second thing I want to praise is the hotel room. I honestly didn't have any expectations for the hotel, as it’s not a brand-new property, so I anticipated it might be a bit dated. But I was pleasantly surprised the moment I stepped in! The room's hardware was well-maintained, and its cleanliness was perhaps the most spotless I've ever encountered in a hotel. You could tell from the bathroom – not a single water stain! No hair, no dust, the bathtub was incredibly clean, and we were very satisfied. The room also came with complimentary snacks, drinks, and fruit, which was a lovely bonus. The only minor drawback was that the TV wasn't a Smart TV, so if you wanted to watch Netflix from your phone, you had to ask the front desk for an external connector. Also, the room felt much larger than it appeared in the photos, which was another great surprise.
Now for the two things I was unhappy with:
First, while most hotel staff were very nice, a few male concierges were utterly unprofessional and rude – worse than what you’d find in a low-grade hotel. Both times we approached the concierge with questions, their attitude was like that of *****; they rolled their eyes and were impatient, even though three of them were just standing around chatting, not busy. Our questions were very simple.
Me: “Excuse me, what facilities are exclusively for hotel guests?”
Concierge: (Dismissive, unwelcoming tone) “Huh? None.”
Me: (But the front desk mentioned a sauna near the water park? We also bought park tickets, so I wanted to clarify.) “Like, the gym? Pool? Sauna?”
Concierge: “You have to pay!”
Me: (What’s wrong with paying? My question wasn't about whether it’s free or not.) “So, which facilities are there?”
Concierge: “They're all closed.” (It was around 9 PM at the time.)
I have to commend Marco again, because his excellent service kept our spirits high throughout our stay, so we didn't bother arguing with those concierge '*****'. However, because of them, I can only give the service 4 stars.
The second dissatisfaction: The hotel breakfast.
The concierge told us breakfast hours were from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. We arrived at 10:29 AM, only to be told that breakfast was actually from 7:00 AM to 10:30 AM. We rushed to grab food, but a male restaurant staff member was already competing with us, clearing away food and tongs. He even threw food away right in front of us, preventing us from taking any… was he really in such a hurry? We were helpless and asked him for tongs, but he impatiently told us to find other tongs that hadn't been cleared yet. We sat down, and by 10:50 AM, a female staff member came over to rush us, saying they needed to do a deep clean. I ate my food under pressure in 20 minutes and left, feeling utterly uncomfortable. There were still many people in the restaurant at the time; we weren't the only ones.
The hotel doesn't offer a shuttle service. From Macau Airport, you can first take the Venetian Hotel's shuttle. Get off at the Venetian, then walk across the street (about 1 minute) to transfer to the Sands Macao shuttle. After getting off at Sands Macao Hotel, it's a 2-minute walk to Harbourview Hotel. The room was comfortable, and the bathroom had a separate wet and dry area with good water pressure. However, there was a musty smell when I first entered the room, but it dissipated once the air conditioning was turned on. The sea view was mediocre. The staff were friendly. Guests can purchase breakfast/lunch/dinner at a discounted price, which is slightly cheaper than booking through online platforms.
Traveling with my daughter, her classmate, and her mom (a party of four), we came from Hong Kong to the Parisian Macao. The hotel package included two round-trip First Class Cotai Water Jet tickets, which made the price incredibly good value for money. The hotel's decor is grand and luxurious, and the rooms are clean and comfortable. Indoor walkways connect to The Londoner and The Venetian, making shopping and entertainment super convenient. You can even enjoy a light show at night. All the staff were patient and polite, especially YOYO at the front desk, who was exceptionally thoughtful. She meticulously explained the hotel facilities, nearby attractions, and transportation options. Her service was attentive and thorough. We were extremely satisfied with this stay!
This time I stayed for a big badminton tournament. The hotel rooms were as opulent as always, but check-in strictly requires waiting until 3 PM, no exceptions if you arrive earlier. I didn't have their breakfast this time because I've had it many times before, and it feels like there isn't as much variety as there was a year ago. Perhaps because there are more mainland Chinese guests now, and their food waste situation is more serious, the portion sizes and selection of food have been reduced. I heard the outdoor pool was closed for maintenance and was supposed to be fixed by the end of April, but I didn't get a chance to check it out this time due to my schedule. I'll definitely be visiting Grand Lisboa Palace again soon, and I hope for a better experience next time.
Our Macau trip got off to a fantastic start, thanks to Brian who upgraded us to a suite! The 270-degree floor-to-ceiling windows offered breathtaking views of both the Eiffel Tower and the Figure 8 Ferris Wheel – the scenery was absolutely stunning. The room itself was stylish yet cozy, and the breakfast buffet's seafood congee and latte art coffee were incredibly comforting. The service experience was top-notch. Highly recommend!

GGuest UserThe Londoner Macao is excellent in every aspect – facilities, location, and service. It's also very convenient to get around, offering fantastic value for money.
My only complaints are that the pillows aren't comfortable and the shower enclosure isn't sealed well enough, so water leaks out, leaving the floor quite wet after showering. These two issues are consistent every time.

MMuxi456A legendary hotel. Designed by Zaha Hadid, with an investment of 6.5 billion, utilizing 28,000 tons of steel, and managed by Lawrence Ho, it opened in 2018.
The service is impeccable; guests are escorted to their rooms, and luggage is handled for them. The soundproofing in the rooms is excellent, and the fully smart features were truly ahead of their time 8 years ago. Don't miss the open-air pool on the 50th floor.
Breakfast is served directly to the room. Guests in executive rooms can also have breakfast at the lounge on the 30th floor. It's a semi-buffet style, and the quality is superb.
I do have to complain about the behavior of some mainland Chinese guests. Half of them were wearing slippers in the lounge, speaking loudly, playing audio on their phones without headphones, and generally lacking etiquette. Such 'uncouth' individuals really shouldn't be present in such an establishment.
GGuest UserOn the first day, I went to check in around 2:30 PM, not realizing it was a bit early. The male receptionist who helped me was quite arrogant, a stark contrast to the friendly female staff I encountered later. I'd suggest more training for him. The cleanliness was okay, but there was a lot of dust in the room—on the mini-bar, in the wardrobe, and on the bed. When I lay down, lint was floating everywhere. However, the hotel views are fantastic, and the location is very convenient. The room facilities are also excellent.

JJulia GrebenevaExcellent hotel located in the green part of Coloane Island. It's a very peaceful area with sea views from the window. Quiet, with the sounds of the jungle. I love walking on forest trails, and near the hotel, there's plenty of space – huge parks with well-maintained paths for hill walks. You could probably explore different trails for a week. I really enjoyed it. In the center of the park, there's a massive A-Ma sculpture and a Buddhist temple.
The hotel doesn't have its own beach access, but it does have swimming pools. There's a public beach nearby, so it's not an issue.
I was very pleased with the bedding in the room – the mattress was perfectly soft, and the blanket was well-chosen, making it ideal for sleeping with the air conditioning on, neither too hot nor too cold.
The hotel isn't new; it seems to have been built in 1993, and there's a certain charm to its slightly older feel. Some of the old furniture and wooden doors remained in the room, which I found beautiful.
The breakfasts were superb – delicious and varied. I wasn't impressed with the lunch and dinner menu at the ground-floor cafe; it was expensive and uninspired. The Japanese cafe upstairs was decent. There's a street cafe near the hotel, towards the beach, which seemed good, but I didn't eat there.
I'm very satisfied with my stay; it's a beautiful, green part of the island. A pleasant hotel that I recommend.
GGuest UserExtremely satisfied! The hotel environment is comfortable and very clean. The staff are well-trained, warm, and attentive. A special shout-out to Tel at the front desk who helped me with my luggage to my room. Knowing I like to drink tea and Coke, they immediately had a staff member bring me drinking water and Coke. A five-star hotel with first-class service!
