The easiest way to reach M50 is usually by Shanghai Metro.
Line 13: Jiangning Road Station (江宁路) is the closest and most convenient stop. From there, it’s about a 10-minute walk to M50 along Suzhou Creek and Moganshan Road.
Line 1 / Line 3 / Line 4: Shanghai Railway Station (上海火车站) is another convenient option, with a walk of around 15 minutes depending on the exit you use.
The metro is fast, clean, and easy to navigate. From People’s Square, the journey usually takes around 20–25 minutes, while from Jing’an it’s often under 20 minutes total.

This five-star hotel is a bit old, but thankfully its location on Nanjing Road is excellent, very close to all the theaters my child wanted to visit. There are a lot of foreigners staying here; I saw a hotel staff member (a girl) helping foreigners with their luggage multiple times in the elevator, and they were all large pieces (why don't they have male porters specifically for this?). During my stay, there was even a power outage (both elevators and the room lost power), but thankfully it was restored in about half an hour. The front desk and the greeters at the entrance were very friendly. Since we stayed for 7 consecutive days, the front desk even gave us complimentary fruit (though it was just one banana, one pear, and one apple, it's the thought that counts! Oh, and they also gave us two drink vouchers for the lobby coffee bar). I highly recommend the Pullman Shanghai Jing An. My stay in the Deluxe King Room was perfect, deserving a full five-star rating. The hotel is located in the heart of Jing An, within walking distance of the metro station, making it incredibly convenient to get to major commercial areas. The room was spacious and elegant, the bed soft and comfortable, and the entire room was spotlessly clean with excellent soundproofing. Service: Before checking in, I read many reviews complaining about the check-in staff. I definitely experienced it myself. All the staff avoided eye contact; it was hard to find someone to help with check-in, and everyone seemed busy.
There was a young man near the elevator entrance who suggested not standing there. He would just lower his head and walk away when he saw guests; I don't know what purpose it served to have someone standing there.
The bellhop at the luggage storage was enthusiastic, but I suggest increasing the refrigerated storage space and training staff. They shouldn't advise guests to carry their refrigerated items with them when checking out, especially on such hot days; it's better to leave them in the air-conditioned hotel.
The staff at the entrance who helped with luggage and opened car doors were polite, and their service was appreciated.
Some of the hosts at the breakfast restaurant were very warm and friendly. Others were not, and some were only friendly towards Japanese guests. The chefs at the cooking stations were all excellent, and the food was delicious.
Facilities: Older hotels always have shortcomings in their hardware. As soon as I exited the elevator on the guest floor, I smelled dust, and there was a musty smell in the room. The shower equipment was old and difficult to use, the washbasin was quite low, and the small magnifying mirror for makeup/removing makeup was broken; either you had to hold it up very high to see your face, or it would fall down and still not work. This can't be changed in the short term, so it needs renovation.
During renovations, I suggest not installing mirrors facing the bed again. I slept very poorly at night.
Cleanliness: The cleanliness was much better than I expected. There was no dust in the nooks and crannies, which was a pleasant surprise.
Noise: The room was very close to the elevator, but surprisingly, there was not much noise, which was acceptable. However, there was a regular rumbling sound, which I suspect was the subway passing by; it was very noticeable. The sound disappeared after the subway stopped at night and reappeared in the morning.
Overall, it was not a very pleasant experience, but I've tried it. I won't choose this hotel again.FromTWD 3,430

During the Dragon Boat Festival, I brought my family for a trip nearby. The Shimao Wonderland InterContinental, though I'd heard mixed reviews online, I decided to experience it for myself. After confirming our check-in time and our preference for a quiet room, Hanna from the front desk proactively added me on WeChat. She reminded me that because it was a holiday and there was an amusement park nearby, parking might be tight, advising me to inform her 30 minutes in advance so she could make arrangements. We checked in on Dragon Boat Festival noon, and I was surprised to see the lobby's seating area packed with people and a long queue at the front desk. However, thanks to Hanna's foresight, our room was already reserved, making the check-in process quick and efficient. Our room was arranged away from the elevator, and the soundproofing was remarkably good. We couldn't hear any plumbing from the adjacent rooms or the floors above/below, whether it was the shower or the toilet. This undisturbed experience is a rare find, whether in hotels built years ago or newly constructed ones, a truly effective soundproofing is hard to come by. There was a minor issue with the sink drainage during our stay, which was promptly resolved, showing their attentive service. However, I have to complain about the sink's design; it was a square basin, which easily splashed water, and water tended to accumulate near the faucet – not very practical. Our stay included a complimentary travel photoshoot with three free photos. The photographer was excellent at creating a lively atmosphere, and our family portrait turned out vibrant and natural, boosting our mood significantly! Online reviews for the Western restaurant were mediocre, but the Chinese restaurant, Cai Feng Lou, received many positive comments. I spontaneously decided to try it, worried about not getting a table, but Hanna immediately helped us book a table for that evening. The standout dish in the set meal was the diced wagyu beef – a true test of a chef's skill. Each piece was large, yet perfectly tender, flavorful, and didn't get stuck in your teeth. This mastery certainly justifies the numerous trophies and prestigious brand accolades at the entrance! At the restaurant entrance, there was also an introduction to the Shimao Quarry Hotel's background and construction history. Indeed, many aspects of its design were quite visionary, considering it took 12 years to build! The cliffside light show at 8:30 PM featured stunning opening audio effects, and the fountain design added a lot to the visual impact of the mythological story. The Chenshan Botanical Garden, included in our hotel package, was even more amazing. I felt like I could spend two days there, enjoying nature, the charm of the vast lawn, the beauty of the dawn redwood forest, and the tranquility of the camphor forest. Overall, it was a good experience, but the price was just too unfriendly. Even without it being a major holiday, it was so expensive. The hotel's location is excellent, and cleanliness wasn't an issue.
However, the facilities had some significant drawbacks. The bathroom door was very problematic; the toilet and shower shared the same glass door, which was extremely difficult to slide and very inconvenient (as shown in the picture). There were too few power outlets, making charging devices a hassle. The light switches weren't clearly marked, and the night light shone directly into your eyes.
Regarding service, the younger male front desk staff member was rude and unprofessional. When I checked in, I wasn't the only guest, and he was impatient and impolite with everyone, not using any basic pleasantries. He also didn't inform me about any of the hotel's facilities; I had to find the laundry room myself later. At one point, a hotel call came in to the female staff member opposite him. She wasn't sure about the situation, hung up, and then asked the male staff member, who directly mocked the guest who had called for inquiries – that was completely out of line. He also made a point of pretending to be busy with other things (even though guests could see his screen and he clearly wasn't busy) before grudgingly responding to guest requests.
Although the hotel's physical amenities aren't a major issue, I will not be staying here again due to the service attitude. Being next to a university, I'm sure they won't miss one guest.FromTWD 2,636

My kid found this hotel online and insisted on staying here. I initially thought it was a bit pricey, but I couldn't say no to them, so I reluctantly booked it. However, as soon as we entered the room, we were absolutely stunned by the beautiful view! The Oriental Pearl Tower was right before our eyes, along with blue skies, white clouds, and the Huangpu River! Truly unbeatable! It felt totally worth it. The only thing is that all the drinks in the mini-bar cost extra, so we didn't end up having any. 🤭 I'd suggest the hotel offer complimentary drinks to guests traveling with kids! ✌️FromTWD 9,770

I enjoyed my stay with my family. We stayed for 3 nights and we had fantastic time and slept well. The hotel is newly renovated. Customer care assistants were helpful even though they had little English but you get the message. Breakfast was good according to my family, I didn’t have any because love my sleep. Overall I would recommend to everyone including Solos, and the People Square Station is the nearest. However the place can be confusing… follow google map or if you’re lost or not sure, just copy the Chinese address and ask anyone around there. Chinese people are nice and helpful. Room & View: Our room was exceptionally clean, comfortable, and spacious, featuring a fantastic view overlooking Jing'an Temple.
Breakfast: The breakfast spread offers an incredible variety of delicious choices, with plenty of great options available for vegetarians.
Concierge: A massive thank you to the concierge team! They were unbelievably helpful, organised and accommodating in managing and receiving my multiple Taobao deliveries prior to and during my stay.
Airport Transfer: We used the hotel’s own airport transport service for CNY 270. The big van was clean and comfortable, and the driver was prompt, courteous, and excellent overall.

Due to the typhoon hitting Nanjing, heavy rain was predicted for two days. Half an hour before arrival, I quickly changed my plans, stayed on the high-speed rail past Nanjing, and bought an extra ticket to Shanghai. Aside from some strong winds, everything else was unaffected. Choosing the right hotel is incredibly important. This hotel, as always, was excellent. The service was warm and attentive, the air conditioning was strong, and the hot water was great. It's right next to the Peace Hotel, and you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower as soon as you step out. Every time I come to Shanghai with my kids to visit the Bund, I choose to stay here. It's super convenient to walk around and explore the area. Excellent! It was exactly the river view room we wanted, and the customer service representative did a great job arranging it. The river view was fantastic both day and night. My child even brought a book and read by the large French windows, with the Huangpu River right outside, boats passing by, and the Oriental Pearl Tower, Lujiazui skyscrapers, and other buildings visible just by looking up. You can't beat the location – right in the heart of Nanjing West Road, bustling outside, yet quiet inside. The hotel is all-suite, with the smallest room being 62 square meters, offering separate living and sleeping areas, so space is definitely generous. Each suite comes with a kitchen (induction hob, microwave, etc.) and a washer-dry dryer, which is incredibly practical for long stays or dealing with the rainy season. The hotel's design has an old Shanghai charm, but it's not overly fussy; the Art Deco details are very appealing. Rooms are comfortable, and the restaurant is pleasant. There are reliable dining options nearby, and it's convenient for business meetings. The gym is outsourced to a chain brand, so the equipment is better than typical hotel gyms; there's also a pool for a relaxing dip. The terrace offers expansive views, perfect for an evening drink.
