AAnonymous UserThis is the sort of place where the staff will always greet you with ”hello, sir/ma'am” whenever they see you. Nice swimming pool and very good food at the restaurant, even though slightly pricy at first (I guess it's fine being a resort), the portions are actually huge and very fresh. Try their lemon chicken on rice for 20 ringgit (February 2024). All you can eat breakfast included for free even with the dorm bed: fried noodles, a very thick pancake, fruit, British breakfast, beef sausages, coffee, juice, etc. Walk-in price is 80RM, cheaper here on Trip. The dorm looks exactly the same as the one I staid in Kinabatangan, which is always funny (same contractor?). Comfortable night, with a new AC and fan, specially so considering I had it all to myself since the other few guests they had had private accommodation. Dorm showers have plenty of hot water and are clean, but there's no soap or amenities beyond the towel they give you at check-in. Bring your own. The staff at the restaurant sometimes disappears for no reason in the middle of service, even if there's about 20 of them considering réception is right there. They helped me book a taxi to the airport (50 ringgit), since there's no grab available (spent 1h looking for one). Don't bother trying to get one, ask them to call a taxi for you, really. This resort is about 1km away from the three main things to do at sepilok. You will be walking on the side of the road to get anywhere since transportation options are scarce and expensive. Overall this is standard of service here in Borneo, so don't settle for less than this.

GGuest UserThe hotel is excellent next to the nursery of orangutans, rainbow bears and rainforest, the territory of the hotel is very beautiful, the pool is small, lived in a house which on the one hand is very authentic and on the other hand modern. When leaving the hotel we could not call a grab taxi, had to use the services of the reception. I do not recommend taking a tour for 3 days 2 nights to Sukau, to see only proboscis monkeys and crocodiles and various birds, one night is the best. It is better to devote more days to Sepilok, there you can see all the birds and animals

GGuest UserLocation is great if you're getting a flight. The room is nice enough and includes toothpaste, shower gel and shampoo (which has been suggested aren't by other guests). Unfortunately they're doing renovations at the moment so there's a bit of noise and the lobby is a bit confusing. Once it's sorted I'm sure it'll be great.

GGuest UserWhat I liked a lot: Well situated to visit main attractions in Sepilok: Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre/Sunbear centre/Rainforest Discovery Centre (RDC), free shuttle bus to the main attractions (09h-14h-16) which was really great. Also offer tours at reasonable prices e.g. Mangroves & Firefly Cruise (recommended). Free water dispenser. To note: rooms are very basic (there is airco), we had some ants in the room, bathroom is outside. Breakfast was limited and minimal. When we were there internet was not functional, luckily we had taken local simcard before with unlimited data so for us, this was not a big issue. Before coming to the hotel, I had sent a mail to have info about tours they offered, but never received a reply therefore I had booked tours with an agency which in the end was more expensive then when I would have it booked with Paganakan Dii Tropical Retreat. Possible to book tours on the spot (no need to reserve before coming) but I did not know this in advance.

GGuest UserRoom was quite big and clean. The lodge is a bit outdated and would need some maintanance. Garden is large with lush vegetation. Reception is at the cafe and it is quite far from the rooms. Location is great if you want to visit Sunbear Conservation Centre or Sepilok Orangutan Sanctuary - 10 minutes on foot.

EEdhamThe breakfast buffet options were really limited. Eg, theres only 1 type of chicken and they put very little amount each batch. Had to wait another batch once its finish. Its not worth paying rm25-30 per head for the breakfast. I suggest you go by foot to the nearby places or restaurant for better food options.  I pick this place mainly for its swimming pool, but after seeing the water up close, its SO DIRTY! You can see a lot of phlegm, saliva, dust, hairs, some trash inside the water with algae. THERE WERE LOTS OF HAIRS during my visit. I felt disgusted by the water pool, pls save ur kids from going into the disease-ridden pool. The hotel needs to upgrade their pool- water filter system. Please. I tried the full body massage service, cost me about RM78, it was okay-ish. Not much to compliment or complaint, it was very average. And they dont use proper massage bed, they use thin mattress placed on the floor. So you cannot put ur face down, u need to put ur face sideways, which made my neck uncomfortable the whole time.  Otherwise room was okay, they need to clean under the bed, as i notice theres A LOT OF trash under the bedframe. The towel seems to be very old, they need to replace it. Looks very worn out.  During my stay, the water pipe had rust in it. It was very rusty for the whole 1 hour, i had to flush it out before the water become usable. Mind you. Theres a lot of positive things about the place too, but a positive experience should be a given, that a basic standards, so i only point out the things that may ward you off from coming to this place if you're like me.  Im travelling with kids, so I expect more quality service. If im travelling alone, i really don't care with the downsides of this place.
