The Standard, Bangkok Mahanakhon

Silom/Sathorn Bangkok|0.59km from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
The Standard Hotel, Bangkok: Not your standard but of exacting exalted standards. I’m a loyalist to Standard Hotel LA Downtown. It has a bit of an irreverent and non-conformist verve - attracting a gamut of characters from the ultra pretentious to the authentically creative or artistic types. It is flashy, LGBT embracing, unapologetic, over the top, form defying, stylish, excessive, extravagant, wanton and bursting with character. Hence it will always be a magnet for characters and drug-fuelled-all-nighter parties but you can expect a scrubbed-clean version in BKK. I flew to Bangkok specifically for the new Standard Hotel - I’ve been dying to check this out. It absolutely doesn’t disappoint. You do get hordes of pretentious IG-ers or alleged annoying influencers doing their 3 hour shoots. But if you got a creative eye like I do and genuinely appreciate solid architecture, offbeat interior styling and intricate art pieces then this place is heaven for you. The style is a mash-up of the most daring and eclectic seemingly mismatched pieces that miraculously come woven together to create a signature style. It is so incredible. There’s no ordinary here - the commanding ceiling art piece outside The Standard Grill restaurant is so technically remarkable I stood there to drink up all the details. It’s so layered here - I feel that the vanity of the superfluous influencers robbed the true meticulous design considerations. I can go at lengths about the styling but I’ll just state that you should deconstruct every element and wow your senses. Everything is modestly sized - pool. Steam room, restaurant, bars, etc. Restaurants are an experience unlike any other - Ojo is mex glam meets Jetson futuristic posh. Tease is a popup fairy tale afternoon tea delight. Mott 32 is chinois haute glam. Standard Grill is tailored classiness. The Parlor is a riot of styles. They are all so exciting. What’s even better is the incredible service. There are some hits and misses but the staff genuinely strive to please. Tina who is busy darting around at the reception, lobby and everywhere is saccharine sweet and effervescent. We nearly missed our flight when the sky emptied and no cabs were found. She so very coolly and humorously handled our mini crisis with such panache, we were so impressed. Look past the superficial influencers or pretentious wannabes. Come and blow your senses out with an experience you should bucket list. #eatstylishtravelstylish

Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok

Silom/Sathorn Bangkok|1.13km from Sri Maha Mariamman Temple
I had the pleasure of staying at The Montien for 3 weeks 2 months ago when on a company-booked trip. My room and bed were extremely comfortable and spacious, with plenty of natural light and unobstructed views, quality amenities including a Nespresso machine. The Montien decor is modern, Thai style and beautiful. The breakfast buffet is bountiful, with plenty of variety. Pierre Pelletier, the Area General Manager and his team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was outstanding! Then this month when my family and I planned a vacation to Bangkok I picked this hotel as our base. The hotel is conveniently located for easy access to the sky and underground trains, many must-go-to restaurants, cafes, Siam Paragon, temples, Chinatown, night walks and more. We were welcomed with incredible 5-star Thai hospitality. Special mention to Khun Nu, her front desk team and night manager Khun Jew for handling flight delays, airport transfers and arranging pick up of lost luggage, Khun Tik for his world-class warm welcomes, Max’s regular assistance and taxi coordination, the ever-helpful and polite bellmen, Beer remembering our morning coffee preferences, Kae at Ruenton restaurant for looking after us at dinners, friendly Tanya at the lobby bar, the housekeeping team for keeping our 3 rooms impeccable and everyone who made our Bangkok vacation so memorable! It felt like our home away from home and we enjoyed our time here so much!

Silom Avenue Inn

Silom/Sathorn
We had a very pleasant stay at the Silom Avenue Inn. It's a modest hotel, but the price is very affordable. The staff was friendly, the hotel was clean, and the breakfast was adequate. It is also very centrally located near Silom Road. We will stay again at this hotel, and we recommend it if you cannot afford one of the more luxurious hotels.

Hotel locates in great location. Have everything around, like supermarket, massages, street markets, restaurants, cafe and money exchange or banks. Because of the good rate and rate included breakfast, we do not complain much as price just fair and good already. Bed mattress is for 3-4 stars hotels quality, I always feel the metal spring underneath when lying on. Bedding are clean, towels are clean. Just the water pressure is not good enough at all times. It is a Chinese capital run business, breakfast buffets offer Chinese dishes. Instant coffee and standard ice tea, milk tea for guests some breakfast choice. Better than nothing! Good for budget travelers.

I booked a room here at the last minute through Booking.com and I got the internal agreement price. I stayed here for 1 night before going to Laos. The staff here speak very good English and they are very helpful. The room was very clean, remember that there is no free drink there and everything is charged. There is no WiFi in the room and there is a lobby area. The location is very good, very close to a Malaysian halal restaurant (ibu restaurant), just a few steps before the Hindu temple. I would stay there again and I would recommend it to all budget travelers.
Warm Window Silom

Superb, independent building, barefoot in the door, very clean, and especially holiday-like. The 8-girl room was booked for around 60 a night. The deposit was 500 pigs. The room had a locker that could be locked. It was too cheap. There was a window to floor. Bigger than those who lived in Chiang Mai. The bed is fixed, it's good, and it doesn't matter if the bunk is turned over. The upper bunk is convenient for climbing up and down. Getting out of bed is terrible. Disadvantages: There is only one plug, and the camera cannot be charged with a mobile phone, and the plug must be charged with a room card. The bathroom only had cold water, and no hot water was released. The toilet door is special, difficult, and retro. The sound of the door closing is very heavy, and it can be heard in the outside sounds, and the toilet and bathroom are out. Location, far from the area of siam, I haven't been to the nearby bts and don't know how long it takes to walk. Bai Zhongyuan recommended the pig's foot rice, it was too sweet and didn't like it. Overall, the price / performance ratio is invincible.

The hotel owner was nice and friendly and helped us book a taxi to Abewa soon, thank you very much. Laundry cleaning is provided twice a day for each guest and I guess it is an added value for everyone. The room was clean, the staff was friendly, the location was good, there were food stalls and shopping centers nearby within walking distance, there were also several massage shops, family convenience stores and 7-11, which was really convenient. The lobby design is comfortable and free toast is provided. There is a roof for guests to visit but I don’t have time to visit, maybe next time. The bed was slightly soft for us but probably for others. Wifi was good during the stay. No doubt it’s worth the good price to stay here.
