Mercure Bolton Georgian House Hotel

My time here was really enjoyable. I was made to feel welcome from when I first walked through the door. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and helpful. I would also highly recommend the food, they have a wide variety of different choice from the menu. I tried many different things over my week stay and was all extremely tasty. Would recommend anyone to use the hotel for business or pleasure.

I had booked 3 rooms, for 5 relatives, in order to attend a funeral. All 3 rooms were acceptable but the catering facilities were deplorable. I paid for 5 full English breakfasts, primarily because my wife is Coeliac and it is essential that her food is Gluten Free. No, this is not a fad, it is serious. The first morning the grills at the Beehive Pub, were breakfast was included, were apparently not working. The 2 staff we spoke to clearly did not understand Gluten free. After a while they said they could provide gluten free toast. 2 of the 3 slices were inedible. The rest of us could have continental breakfast after having to ask for plates, spoons, orange juice and even hot water for tea/coffee which was not supplied. This was mentioned to the hotel manager who fully apologised and promised a refund. Ok, £9.99 for my wife’s and £2 each for us is not a life changing amount but despite speaking to “Tisha” as we checked out - nothing. Very disappointing and this has let Premier Inns down big style.

This venue/hotel has a lot of work to do. I booked a two-night stay for a business conference. To be fair, the conference, reception, and bar staff were lovely, helpful and friendly The room itself was basic. Only found the kettle when packing to leave as it was packed away in a drawer! No water was available in the room, so I had to go back to the bar to get a glass of water. There was a constant smell that I originally thought was coming from the bathroom but wasn't. It was musty and damp which kept catching the back of my throat and making me gag. The room wasn't cleaned, or the bed made during my stay - due to a shortage of staff - a note was pushed under the door. It is what you expect from Raddison! You can tell it is due to have a refit. The pricing should reflect that. I did say to the reception staff I should have stayed across the road at the Premier Inn.
