Had a short stay very recently and I must say it fit my needs perfectly. The room was incredibly clean, very comfy bed, not to mention the great location of the hotel. Special thanks to Miguel who was incredibly helpful during my stay, made the whole process a breeze and had some wonderful recommendations of some local spots to visit!

In all honesty when I booked this hotel I didn’t expect much. I was looking for somewhere to lay my head off the M5 before travelling to wales in the morning. For £80 (which was very reasonable for a Saturday night and comparative to other hotels in the area) I thought I’d take a chance. Easily better than a travel lodge or holiday inn - very tastefully decorated, warm and clean. Two small issues: we arrived after 10pm & as they do not operate 24hr checkin the place was locked down like fort knots (reassuring but irritating) and the black sheep was closed. I had rang earlier in the day and sent an email but had no response/reply however I had luckily found in the small print of booking.com about checking in over the road at the Aztec - this was pain free and the receptionist very helpful! Secondly, it is quite noising on the hallway - more at fault of our unfortunate neighbours being rowdy although road noise is minimal. Would recommend bringing ear plugs to be on the safe side if a light sleeper but otherwise spot on and still 5* based on price!

The hotel is a very old building, somewhat like a B&B, with very old facilities. Old elevators and old room facilities. The rooms are larger, the beds are softer, and they are cleaner! Although the window is small, the bathroom is relatively large with a separate bathtub, shampoo and shower gel! There is a bar downstairs in the hotel. The lady at the front desk was very polite and friendly. Please note that the soundproofing in the hotel rooms is very poor. You can hear all the activities in the next room clearly. The noise in the bar at night is also very bad. Affect rest

We arrived on a late flight from Portugal with a particular room booked which we had done through a third party booking service (queen). The hotel was clearly very busy and we were put into a room with twin double beds. This was not ideal and we asked the receptionist if it was possible to have the room we had booked. She moved us to a much nicer room (same footprint but better layout which meant I could share a bed with my husband!). This was a real 5/5 from us because despite an initial problem the really kind and professional receptionist went out of her way to fix it, and also comped us a couple of drinks which was unexpected and massively appreciated. It has made me much more likely to choose this chain again, knowing that a small hiccup will be dealt with nicely. Great staff. Room was comfortable and well proportioned and I like the fact that the toiletries are in dispensers so less plastic waste! The bar was lovely as well with really nice common areas to relax. Late night bar staff were charming and friendly. Well done Hilton!

Honestly, the team here at the Mercure have gone above and beyond. I’m here for a business trip as I’m attending a trade show within the hotel and I have found the whole experience brilliant. I checked into my room but my toilet had a bit of an overexcited flush, the maintenance team came out to rectify but they upgraded my room without hesitation. I mentioned that I would be back here in 4 days time to stay due to my sister getting married around the corner and when I say that they are pulling out all the stops for her for that evening before the wedding, that isn’t even the half of it. I can’t say too much incase she reads this review beforehand but thank you a million times to Mahin and Stan for everything you’re doing for her. You’re making a Big Sister and her favourite person very happy! We’ll definitely be back!

The hotel was very smart modern and clean. Our room was small but we had booked a standard room. Price was good compared to other hotels locally. The hotel is right next to the harbour and in the middle of a bustling nightlife. We hadn’t considered this when booking. Although the location was great, the noise from outside could be heard so loudly in our room at night. I actually thought a window was open, but it wasn’t. This went on till the early hours, music, shouting etc, so we found it hard to sleep. The bed was very comfortable though and the room spotlessly clean. Tea/coffee facilities were provided in our room, an iron and hairdryer were also there. The bathroom had a good shower, towels were provided. We didn’t dine but I did purchase a drink from the bar. After paying I was told it would be brought over to me. When it was the bartender informed me my card had declined and asked me to pay again. I did, however when I checked my bank later both payments had been paid out. Not very happy about this. Although a nice looking hotel and great price, due to the noise level at night we wouldn’t stay again. If that wouldn’t bother you the hotel would be a great choice.

It was a nice hotel on the whole, but the room had water/damp stains on the wall and could have been cleaned better (few hairs and dust etc). Staff were all very friendly and the facilities were average, as you would expect from a budget hotel.

GGuest UserWe arrived on a late flight from Portugal with a particular room booked which we had done through a third party booking service (queen).

GGuest UserIncredible staff. That’s the first thing to stay, they really make the difference. The hotel itself is very on trend, you get a free cocktail on arrival, and the breakfast which isn’t expensive, is good. The room is very comfy and well appointed, the bed was comfortable and the shower room, although small, was more than adequate. It’s all about the staff though, incredible service.

GGuest UserThe hotel was very smart modern and clean.

GGuest UserWe visited Bristol to celebrate my birthday weekend, so we booked a “deluxe” king size room for three nights. On arrival the hotel was very impressive with good car parking facilities and a very classy reception area. Check-in was friendly and efficient. There was just a slight confusion over the late check-out time – the website said 4pm, the receptionist thought it was 3pm. The reception is well attended and they were highly responsive when dealing with an issue with one of the lifts. There was a loud noise inside the lift one evening between floor 4 & 5 (a bit of a worrying sound of metal hitting on metal). It was great to see a lift engineer on-site bright and early the next morning attending to it. The bedroom was very spacious with lots of storage, a very comfortable super-king size bed and a clean bathroom. However, the main problem with the room was how dimly lit it was and the scruffy state of the furniture. It was difficult to see well enough in the room to put make-up on, which meant I had to wait for my partner to finish in the bathroom before I could use the better illuminated bathroom mirror. The dark wooden furniture was badly scuffed and warped; the chair was scruffy with peeling leatherette - surprisingly tired furniture for a Deluxe room. There was a lot of damage to the bathroom door (big dent in the wooden panel), scratches in the sink and broken robe hooks – not exactly deluxe fittings. Also the bathrobes were very small (approx size 14). When we came to pack up to leave we had to get a torch out to check in cupboards etc to make sure we hadn’t left anything behind – it was too dark to see inside the cupboards without a torch even though we had the curtains open and lights on. Unfortunately it was then that we saw just how extremely dusty the room was. The lampshades were very dusty. I doubt the area beneath the desk/dressing table had been vacuumed for months (lots of clumps of dust in the area where you put your feet). We were disturbed by just how much dust we had spent the last three nights sleeping with so, out of curiosity, we moved the bed to check underneath and discovered another very thick build up of dust and a roast potato from a previous guest’s dinner stuck to the carpet. There is an Eco option to not have housekeeping done each day which we welcomed at the time, as it meant we didn’t have to wonder when the cleaner would come in if we wanted to have a lie in. However, if I’d have seen the levels of dust in the room on arrival, then I would have asked for a cleaner to come in and give it all a good vacuuming. Apart from the disappointing dust and shabby furniture we enjoyed our stay because of the extremely comfy bed, excellent breakfast in the delightful Kiln restaurant and on-site car parking. It’s also a good location for visiting the city. But I’d need some reassurance that the housekeeping issues will be attended to before we contemplate a return visit.

AAdhar JaiswalAir conditioner was not working properly. Also the water force was not proper in the bathroom. Upon asking to change the room, they said they do not have another room instead they offered 2 complimentary drinks as a compensation. We asked for a fan as AC was not working but it was not provided.

GGuest UserWe had a wonderful time during our stay, the view overlooking the harbour was beautiful and the staff were amazingly helpful and very professional, making our trip feel all the more special. GGuest UserStayed here for two nights in September 2022. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is on the edge of Clifton, which appears to be a very affluent area. A twenty minute walk will take to to the Clifton suspension bridge to take in some lovely views. The bridge visitor centre and observation tower are well worth visiting. The number 8 bus which you get around the corner takes you into Bristol city centre in around 15/20 minutes, so all in all, a good location. The hotel offers a substantial free cooked and buffet breakfast which is why I am awarding it three stars. You will need to book a time slot. Now the not so good…………… Our room was on the ground floor and needs a refurb. A rotten window frame, mould in the shower and on the bathroom ceiling, a hole in the net curtain, an uneven wobbly floor and cobwebs hanging from the ceiling were not a great look. The bed and towels were clean, but despite the fact I was there for two nights and a couple of small towels were left on the floor, they weren’t changed, even though someone had clearly been into our room to provide biscuits for our tea and coffee (which i add, was a lovely gesture). Neither was our bed made. Now I realise the management will say if we had complained, we may have been moved, but that’s not the point. That room (room 11), would have been provided to another guest or guests if we had been moved. It just needs a refurb and then perhaps the next guest would give the hotel four stars. Really enjoyed Bristol. First time I have visited, but found it really interesting. Lots to see and do and the people are very friendly.

GGuest UserWe needed to be near the Cathedral for a Graduation ceremony and the Ibis was a 5 minute walk away. Reception on arrival was quick & efficient. The bedroom (320) and bathroom were clean and appeared to have been totally renovated very recently. Everything worked as it should. There was some background noise from the air-con on a nearby building but this did not prove to be a problem for us when the window was closed. A very fullsome buffet breakfast was enjoyed. We took advantage of the secure luggage room after vacating the bedroom. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant, polite and helpful. We parked at the nearby Britannia Car Park (which was clean and well lit) and the Ibis reception processed our parking ticket which resulted in up to 24 hour parking costing £10 instead of £17. Checkout was painless. Would we stay again? Yes - but for only one or two nights.

Clifton Suspension Bridge
VVirtiThe Clifton Suspension Bridge offers breathtaking panoramic views of Bristol and the Avon Gorge. Designed by Isambard Kingdom Brunel, this architectural masterpiece is a must-visit. Wills Memorial Building Tower

Bristol International Balloon Fiesta
SSheda11I had fond memories of the night time Bristol balloon fiesta (8 years ago?), so decided to return this year (daytime). Sooo disappointed, it felt like there were hundreds of touristy-type stands (mainly fast food and balloons) and about six balloons in the middle of the field.Parking was also extortionate (£20.00 and you still had to walk half a mile or so) and the parking attendant told us he had turned people away from the priority parking area (pre-booked at additional cost) due to it being full.Sadly, unable to recommend this. It is probably worth taking a picnic and watching the event from a distance :
Castle Park - Welsh Back
JJ Tiger LeoIt’s nice and chill. The Castle park is a nice place to visit.
Clifton College
__TS***0iClifton is a very nice place in Bristol. Clifton college has historical buildings. Students there are very lucky.
