Great safari experience that met all our expectations , our room was top draw , with a plunge pool on the deck and outside shower , great for chilling between game drives . Breakfast , lunch & dinner were all excellent quality & more than you could possibly eat . Leo the Sommelier served some equally excellent wines . We managed 5 morning & evening Game drives & our personal ranger Frans was brilliant, so knowledgeable & experienced . We saw some wonderful & memorable wildlife in the stunning setting of the reserve including the Big 5 .

What an Incredible place. Top notch safari drives, accommodation and staff. More than 5 star in every way. Special mention to our guide Dominic who went above and beyond to help us realise our dream safari. All the staff were exemplary. Special mention to Debbie & Francis who attended to our every need. Totally luxurious and relaxing stay. Everything was thought of. The most wonderful holiday, to remember forever.

Absolutely amazing place, room was incredible, loved the private plunge pool and the outdoor shower, of course there was a big shower inside and even a separate bath too! The safari drives were amazing, we were lucky to get offered a night drive so if offered definitely take the guide up on it! Leon our guide was amazing,he will try his best to find what animals you really want to see. Every staff member we came across were lovely. (thanks to Leo I will now try cucumber in my vodka and sprite)Honestly it felt like you were a part of Shamwari family, nothing was too much hassle and the welcome was genuine.Food was amazing...I am a picky eater so I was a wee bit worried but I certainly had enough to eat and I tried some new things. Our days were so packed we didn't get to visit the spa, but I'm sure it would have been a great experience too. Definitely was a great start to our honeymoon, genuinely felt sad leaving and one day I hope to come back, I mean I have to see the leopards and cheetahs that eluded us but we saw so many different animals that we enjoyed checking off our animal check list 😂

This is truly the ultimate in luxury! Easy a six star!! I was very apprehensive about a safari as I have limited mobility, however I needn’t of worried in the slightest. From our warm welcome by our hosts, we were offered a room nearer the main ranch building. The rooms are huge and have everything you can imagine to make our stay relaxing. There’s a quality stocked mini bar, snacks and sweets…not that we used it with the early mornings! Coming back to the room to find the electric blanket on was the ultimate luxury for me. The weather wasn’t warm enough to use the private pool but that didn’t matter, within minutes of getting to our room an elephant paid us a visit….unreal! The food is of an exceptionally high quality bordering on Michelin! And the service was second to none. Frans was our ranger and he took great care of me, getting in and out of the 4x4, ending up sitting in the front with him! His expert knowledge was amazing and we were not disappointed with our drives, seeing the lion’s roaring up close, a pair of cheetahs, lots of elephants, giraffes, buffalo, wart hogs, zebras, monkeys to name a few! The 4x4 itself was extremely comfortable seating 6 guests in plush leather seats, with blankets for those cooler early morning drives. The afternoon comfort break was surreal, stopping for a G & T with ice and a slice in the middle of the reserve is somewhat bizarre but magical. I would most definitely stay here again if I was lucky enough it exceeded all my expectations and is the height of luxury.

A wonderful place! A luxurious experience set deep in the jungle. The Eagles Crag rooms are quite large with all the modern amenities and well as a outdoor deck and plunge pool. The plunge pool was too cold though to be usable in June but likely would be a wonderful feature in summer. Our ranger Dom was wonderful in locating all the animals and all the safari experiences including the snack stops were exceptional. There is considerable variety in the topography of Shamwari so the safari trips don't feel repetitive even after the 3 days (6 safari drives) that we were on. The ranger would usually take you to different parts of the park in each drive. The safari vehicles were very well outfitted with blankets, hot water bottles for the cold mornings/evenings of winter. Food at the lodge was top notch as well. We used the spa/massage between safaris and that was great too. Only downside was that one of the days the power went out and the generator didn't work so we were in the dark for 2 hours. Power goes out everyday in South Africa so most hotels have their generators(working). Hope Eagles Crag have fixed their generator already. In spite of the generator glitch, I would rate it as a 5* experience and I do hope to return some day.

Well what can one say. From the moment you are greeted at the door you know you are somewhere special. The rooms are enormous and well provided for. The food is of the highest standard and plentiful. But you have come here for the safari and that does not disappoint. Frans our guide was amazing. From our first meeting for the evening drive to the last evening drive he was so knowledgeable and friendly even at 6am in the morning. He knew so much and wanted to pass this on. From knowledge about the animals large and small to the flower and plants and then the stars at night. This is a treat but so worth it. Tip at night, go out side and look up at the stars we could easily see the Milky Way, What a sight

The whole experience is just phenomenal. The lodge is excellent. Where you stay is the height of luxury with every lodge having its own heated pool. huge comfortable bed, a choice of bath or shower. The all inclusive meals are to die for, so tasty. The customer service is second to none, throughput. As regards the Ranger, we had Leon, I cannot imagine a more positive, passionate, enthusiastic ranger who goes to great lengths to ensure you enjoy your game drives. His knowledge is top class and a very likeable and personable individual. The animals are plentiful and the Ranger goes to great lengths to show you all that he can. We also had an early evening camp fire with drinks chatting with colleagues about our respective experience along with the bbq at the lodge. The downside? Having to leave this place! It leaves a lifelong memorable experience, well done to the whole team; management, catering staff, the Rangers, the hardworking and friendly house keeping staff. If you are looking for an out of this world experience, here it is
