Great
LleonconnieThe room was incredibly spacious, with a separate living room. I'd definitely want to stay here long-term if I visit Scotland again. The room was very quiet, and the living room sofa converts into a bed. All the appliances were high-end brands like Dyson and Smeg. The only downside was the lack of on-site parking. There's an NCP car park under the bridge a bit further down, costing around £25 per night. The hotel is very close to the castle, about a 5-minute walk, and about 10 minutes from the city center. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, which is very convenient.

WWahida ZulkefleWe loved our stay at this hotel in Scotland. Perfect for a short trip—just a short walk to the airport. Breakfast was ready as early as 5am, which was such a bonus. Arrived before check-in time and the receptionist kindly allowed us to check in early. Everything was smooth and welcoming! Love!

GGuest UserThe location of this hotel is just on the border of the city centre, so it feels a lot quieter compared to right on the High Street. My room was a windowless Queen Room, with plenty of storage space for 2 people.  I quite like the design of the room, where 1 side of the room is the washing facilities. Unfortunately, the night when I stayed, there were many loud door slamming during the night.  I've got woken up many times. I had the breakfast downstairs at around 9:30am, and it closes at 10am.  The hot food was very dry, so probably been sitting around for some time.  If I stay here again, I would go elsewhere for breakfast.

Iits.anastasiiaMixed experience – not quite 4-star quality for the price I recently stayed at the Edinburgh Marriott Hotel and, unfortunately, had to request a room change upon arrival. The first room didn’t feel like what you’d expect from a 4-star hotel, especially at nearly £200 per night. It was very basic—no carpet, no robe, and no slippers. The room felt empty, more like a budget option than a premium stay. We were moved to another room, which did have a carpet, but it was essentially the same situation—still no slippers or robe etc. That said, there were a few positives: the location is great, the breakfast was really nice, and the pool itself was a good facility. Overall, I might stay here again, but only if the price reflects the actual experience. At this rate, I expected a bit more attention to detail and comfort.

PPoppy LeeI stayed at Courtyard by Marriott Edinburgh from 22 February to 26 February 2026 in Room ***. Unfortunately, my experience fell significantly below the service and housekeeping standards expected of the Marriott brand. 1) 22 February 2026 (Check-in) Upon arrival, I immediately noticed several cleanliness issues with my room. The kettle was dusty and visibly dirty, the shower gel was completely empty, there were noticeable stains on the bed sheets, the shower room floor was unclean, and the shower water pressure was extremely poor. I reported these issues to the front desk on the same day. In addition, during the check-in process, the staff did not provide any information about hotel amenities, such as gym operating hours, availability of facilities like the ice machine or microwave, or other services. I only became aware of some of these facilities on my last day during check-out, which was disappointing. 2) 23 February 2026 The shampoo had run out and was not replenished during housekeeping services. I emailed the Front Office Manager regarding both the missing amenities and the ongoing low shower pressure issue. I did not receive any response. 3) 24 February 2026 The situation continued. Coffee and tea bags were not refilled, the stained bed sheets had still not been changed since Day 1 check-in, and both shampoo and conditioner were empty. I called the same Front Office Manager twice, and only shampoo was delivered. I then contacted the front desk twice more to clearly request conditioner, yet incorrect items were delivered again. As a result, the conditioner remained unreplenished for me for 3 consecutive days (22–24 February). 4) 25 February 2026 In the morning, I requested a new toothbrush through the front desk and was told housekeeping would provide one during housekeeping service. When I returned to my room after housekeeping, no toothbrush had been supplied. I later learned that when Trip.com contacted the hotel on my behalf regarding the service lapses, the Operations Manager informed them that everything had been “addressed and settled with me” which was not accurate. While individual staff members made partial attempts to assist, the repeated housekeeping lapses, lack of follow-up, and unresolved maintenance issue reflect systemic operational shortcomings rather than isolated mistakes. Throughout my entire stay (22–26 February), the shower water pressure issue remained unresolved. The hotel’s location is excellent and within walking distance of many major attractions, which helps save on public transport costs. However, good location alone does not compensate for the overall service deficiencies experienced during this stay. As a paying guest, I expected basic cleanliness, consistent replenishment of amenities, and responsive service, especially from a reputable hotel property like Marriott. Unfortunately, those expectations were not met during this stay.

GGuest UserThe room was clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast offered a great variety of options. It's within walking distance to all the city's attractions. I especially recommend the Sofia Restaurant downstairs; their food is top-notch. The grilled lamb chops and stewed lamb shank were delicious and reasonably priced. I ended up eating there twice!

YYiersan✌️Overall, I'm really happy with this hotel. The location is super convenient, the room facilities are comfortable, and I slept great at night. The room and bathroom were a bit small, and the soundproofing wasn't the best, but thankfully the other guests were quiet late at night. The off-season price wasn't too expensive, so it was pretty good value for money.

GGuest UserThe hotel is currently undergoing renovations, and I had the chance to see both the pre-renovation and post-renovation rooms. There's a significant difference. The older rooms were just 'okay,' but the renovated ones are absolutely beautiful, on par with five-star hotels in China. The location is fantastic, right next to the large green spaces of the University of Edinburgh, and many attractions are within walking distance. Plus, there are plenty of Chinese restaurants nearby. My only minor disappointment is that the hotel kitchen only has a microwave, no induction hob, so you can't really cook for yourself.

GGuest UserThe hotel's location is absolutely unbeatable, just a 2-minute walk from the train station. However, you have to climb about four flights of stairs to reach the lobby, which was a bit tough with luggage. The service was excellent. According to the front desk, there's an elevator that goes directly to the train station entrance, but my English wasn't good enough to find it. I tried again the day before check-out, and a very helpful staff member personally guided us there. I left a note in the room requesting a sheet change and more bottled water, and they wouldn't even accept the tip I left – classic old-school hospitality! These two points definitely deserve a huge thumbs up. I gave the facilities 3 stars because the bed was a bit saggy, and my back was sore after sleeping on it for four nights, but everything else was great.

LLowryafThe room quality is on par with a 3-star hotel in China. The hotel staff were very friendly and provided excellent service, but the room layout was quite odd and winding. The bed wasn't very big either. It's super convenient if you want to visit Calton Hill, but I wouldn't recommend it if you're primarily interested in the city center, as it's about a 20-minute walk.
