The staff is very pleasant and the breakfast is satisfactory, but unfortunately the buffet is closed. (Forced to choose what you want the day before...) The right space for its price may be a bit too small. On the other hand, there is a lot of noise behind the walls and ceiling, which may be due to poor insulation. The bathroom is very good and the water pressure is good.

We were completely satisfied with everything in the Horst hostel. The check-in was friendly and quick, the rooms (we had family room No. 14 with 4 adults) were very comfortable and clean. The beds are very comfortable, the bathroom is huge. The free parking is right behind the house. Breakfast offer was not huge (but is also not realistic to expect at the size of the hostel shop), but fresh, of good quality and delicious and we had everything we needed. A walk takes 5 minutes to the center, where you have a lot of choice of restaurants, cafes and bars with relaxed atmosphere and with a lot of outdoor gastronomy. The operators were very, very friendly, speaking fluidly German and enjoying continuing to help with all questions. In particular, we have a refrigerator filled with about 30 beers and soft drinks in the lobby area, which you can use (free). You can also stay in the general area of the hostel if you don't want to stay in the room. The hostel also offers a dinner you must order before (not sure how much pre-order you need). We did not try this at this visit, but we would test it next time.

Made a late booking to stay here when travelling from Berlin to Calais. Excellent location just off the motorway - a little hidden but should have followed the sat nav ! Really easy check in, perfect English spoken, Room was a little walk from reception but not too bad. Spotlessly clean. Good shower, but tiny towels! Lovely grounds with 4 large ponds. These were in fenced so may be a concern for those with small children. Quite a few dogs staying at this hotel - with their owners of course - head then say it was an additional 17.50EUR per night for your dog and they were only allowed in certain rooms. 12 car chargers in the car park at 0.59EUR / Kw. All 22kw chargers that were fine for my car as a hybrid, but could be slow for a full charge on all electric vehicles. No app required to use them. Good breakfast with just the right amount of choice. Nice restaurant, lovely setting and good food.

We made this a stopover in our way to the Harz Mountains and it was a total treat - relaxed elegance. Would have liked to have stayed longer to explore the gardens next door and the ceramic museum. Comfortable bed, good breakfast, pretty terrace and picturesque moat. Only downside was they had fully booked the restaurant so we had to go elsewhere but this turned out to be a good move! Lovely hotel, very helpful and friendly reception staff , great beer , but downside unfortunately if you don’t eat meat or dairy you will struggle like we did, the staff knew we were vegan when we booked and this was also our second visit. First time we were treated very well and had good options but for some strange reason we had hardly any options at all on our second visit .We stayed for two nights and had the same dinner both nights. Breakfast was not given any thought on our second visit and disappointed with just alternative ham and cheese which we had to ask staff what we were getting at the time. On our first visit We had beans and hash browns, which we thought we would get again but didn’t. Staff in the restaurant were young and did not want to suggest anything to help. For lunch all we could have was chips as all the menus showed lots of meat options and nothing else. Very difficult to accept with the way our world is changing and how many people could be gluten free or have allergies but would struggle here sorry to say. Really hope hotels would offer a better menu for everyone to choose not just meat and vegetarian.

A lovely hotel in a fantastic location. We were delighted to arrive and find we had a duplex room on the 7th floor - unfortunately the air con was terrible, made quite a lot of noise and didn’t cool the room down at all which meant we needed the window open all night. In the middle of the town that’s not the formula for a good night’s sleep! Friendly staff, good restaurant and in terms of overall quality a nice hotel.
