Taichung Hostels

This time I brought my wife to Taichung for her birthday, and we stayed at the Norway Forest Cultural Center for the first night. We arrived early to drop off our luggage and immediately experienced the friendly and polite service, which made me feel happy and warm. Although there was a minor issue with the air conditioning in our room when we checked in that evening, the front desk manager came up and helped us switch to a larger and more comfortable room. Their service attitude was also super nice. It's no wonder this hotel has reviews above 9 – it's absolutely deserved. If I have the chance to come again, it will definitely be my first choice! 🥰

The room wasn't huge, but it was very quiet, tucked away in an alley. Parking wasn't an issue though; there was mobile parking right at the entrance, and the hotel also provided information on nearby paid parking lots. I had a great night's sleep; the bed was really comfortable and the pillows were excellent. The air conditioning was perfectly cold. We also received a welcome drink voucher that we could use at the front desk for drinks and snacks. After checking out, we realized we'd left our power bank and charging cable behind. To our surprise, the hotel proactively called us to ask if we wanted them to hold onto it. Since we don't live in Taichung, they even helped us ship it home via Black Cat Express, and we received it the very next morning, carefully wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. This is truly a thoughtful and wonderful hotel! Definitely my top choice for staying in Taichung.

The corner room was a bit small. With a double bed, it's fine for one person. The bed faces directly into the bathroom, so be careful with the water pressure/direction when showering, or the whole floor will get wet. The air conditioning is central, so be aware if you have specific preferences. The room has three sets of lights: main space, bathroom, and a night light. There's a free laundry room on the top floor, with paid dryers. The washing machine automatically adjusts based on the laundry type/requirements. The bed was really comfortable, I slept great, but the pillows were a bit too soft. The location is super convenient. It's across from Miyahara Eye Clinic and a 5-6 minute walk to the train station. The street behind the hotel is lively at night with hot pot restaurants. The staff were friendly.

Absolutely loved my stay here. Room is spacious, perfectly located. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Had washing machine and dryer on site but i dont recommend the dryer at all. Good views and a great price. I would definitely stay here again!

Overall, we had a pleasant stay at this hotel. The location was excellent, with plenty of great dining options nearby. The hotel's also has a unique wall display featuring cards with local recommendations, which was a fun and helpful way to discover places to explore and eat around the area. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout our stay, always ready to assist when needed. One challenge we encountered was that the double room we originally booked felt quite small for our needs. Since a family suite was not available at the start of our stay, we upgraded midway through when one became available. The family suite was spacious, comfortable, and significantly enhanced our experience. If you're traveling with more than one person or prefer extra room, the family suite is definitely worth considering. The hotel also does not provide disposable amenities, in line with Taiwan's sustainability initiatives, so guests should remember to bring their own toiletries. One thing to note is that breakfast is not served in the hotel building itself. The breakfast venue is located about two streets away, roughly a five-minute walk from the hotel. While this wasn't a major inconvenience, it may be something to keep in mind, especially during bad weather or for guests who prefer having breakfast on-site. Despite the initial room size issue and the off-site breakfast arrangement, we enjoyed our stay overall thanks to the convenient location, friendly service, and excellent family suite. We would consider staying here again.

The moment you step into the hotel, you're greeted by a refreshing and pleasant scent. Although the room isn't huge, it's very clean and offers an open view, directly facing Taichung Train Station. It's also just a few minutes' walk to Miyahara. Do note that you'll need to bring your own toothbrush, toothpaste, and small towel, as ********* hotels no longer provide them; only large bath towels and disposable slippers are offered.

This was a business trip, and I found this Japanese-style hotel close to my work location, within walking distance. The hotel has a very Japanese feel to it, and for a solo traveler, the room was spacious and comfortable. They also offer snacks for guests, which is a very thoughtful touch. I'll definitely prioritize this hotel next time I need accommodation!

The hotel offers good value for money, but the breakfast selection was just so-so. On our second day, we visited the Second Market, recommended by locals, which was only about a 5-minute walk away. You *must* try the Shan He Braised Pork Rice, beef pan-fried buns, and Lao Lai Black Tea! We had a great time walking around and eating, and our brunch was easily sorted. As for the room, the bed is right in front of you as soon as you open the door. However, the toilet and shower areas are separated (wet and dry), and there's enough space to open a large suitcase. P.S. There are no convenience stores right near the hotel; you'll have to walk a bit to find one.

SOF hotel has a very unassuming first impression. From its neighborhood, one cannot anticipate the modern and purposefully curated pieces in it. I believe the building was restored and re-purposed. What I love most is its staff, they are so homey and kind, always ready to assist. Special thanks to the young ladies and gentleman who helped us make phone calls to book transportation, made enquires about the schedules of our next travel segments and offered us bandaid. They never fail to offer us a drink every time they see us. The location requires some walking, like to Taichung Train station. If walking with luggages, it can be tiring. Without load, it is rather doable journey and a good exercise. The space within the room was small yet sufficient, with minimalist design in its furnitures and items provided - like sofa, kettle, water dispenser at every level. In my opinion they are all curated with intent and sustainability in mind. Looking at the price point to space avail to guests, I think they offered a very reasonabl pricing. I appreciated that there is no excess items or even spaces that are wasted. I’m paying for exactly what I needed from these accommodation. Thank you once again to the lovely staff! I appreciate Taichung so much more with your help. I hope to be back again.

I recently spent two nights at The Metro Hotel (豪爵大飯店台中館) in Taichung, and overall, it was a very practical, comfortable, and well-situated experience. Located right on Wuquan Road in the West District, this 3.5-star property strikes an excellent balance between affordability and convenience. If you are looking for a reliable base to explore the city, here is a detailed breakdown of my stay.  The room was spacious, exceptionally clean, and featured a nice view of the surrounding city. The bed was on the firmer side but very supportive, providing a great night's sleep after long days of walking. A major highlight for me was the climate control. I absolutely need a cool sleeping environment and always set the thermostat to 21°C; thankfully, the room’s air conditioning was powerful and maintained that crisp, chilly temperature perfectly throughout both nights.  There are two minor caveats to the room: • Electrical Outlets: There are very few power outlets available. If you have multiple devices to charge (phone, laptop, power banks), I highly recommend bringing a small travel extension cord.  • Soundproofing: While the room itself was peaceful, the door soundproofing is a bit lacking. You can occasionally hear other guests in the hallway or neighboring doors closing.  The hotel provides all the essential basics without overcomplicating things. The bathroom was roomy with great water pressure and came stocked with standard toiletries. A huge plus for travelers is the self-service laundry room located on the 5th floor. The front desk staff were consistently friendly, welcoming, and helpful with luggage storage. It is worth noting that they strictly enforce their 4:00 PM check-in time—you generally cannot get into your room a minute earlier—but they do offer a generous 12:00 PM check-out, allowing for a relaxed morning.
