"Hotel was not too far from the Beppu station, within 10 minutes of walking distance. Room was clean and there's a sofa included in the room for us to sit and enjoy when returning from the outside. Would appreciate if there's a bottle of drinking water placed in room everyday when we put up the ”changed towel” signage at the door or the complimentary room cleaning service on the alternate days despite the welcome drink at the lobby which only serve from certain timing."

We booked 2 rooms at Superior Japanese Western Room With Open Air Bath, with breakfast option.
Parking was easy and spacious, everyone at the hotel was very kind and professional, room was very nice, clean, warm with nice views. I don't have much complaints except for check-out was done through a machinery method and the hotel only had one machine at the check-out area.
FYI they also had employees who could speak English, which was great for forigners!"

"The entire hotel has a Japanese-style design, and you have to take off your shoes and store them in the lobby upon entering. The hot spring is on the top floor and features 7 family baths, available on a first-come, first-served basis. I'd heard good things about the dinner at the downstairs restaurant, but by the time we checked in, it was already fully booked for the night and they only serve guests with reservations. So, if you plan to dine there, make sure to book in advance! We drove here, but it seems very convenient if you take the JR, as the hotel is only about 100 meters from Beppu Station."

"This was the first time my friends and I visited Beppu, and out of all the places I've stayed in Japan, this accommodation was by far the best for our group of four.
It features an open-air onsen on the rooftop and a comfortable lounge on the first floor. Right in front of the hotel, there's a beach perfect for morning strolls. What truly surprised me was finding a Don Quijote Beppu store right next door! Its proximity to the bus terminal (a 10-minute walk) made it incredibly convenient for a day trip to Yufuin. There's a Seven-Eleven nearby, a Lawson near the terminal, and even a local supermarket on the basement floor of the Lawson building, making it easy to grab bento boxes. Plus, there are plenty of restaurants in the vicinity, making it a very accessible location.
Having staff who could speak Korean was especially helpful for getting information.
But what we were most grateful for was an incident with the onsen. We were about to use it, but someone had tampered with the temperature settings after a staff member had set it, making the water incredibly hot and almost unusable. Late at night, a Korean-speaking staff member and the manager endured the scorching water to fix the issue for us, allowing us to fully relax and enjoy our last night. "The twin room was 26 square meters, clean and tidy. I stayed on the 16th floor, where I could see Beppu Bay to the left and trains arriving and departing from the station to the right. Both breakfast and dinner were substantial, and a special highlight was being able to try the local specialty, 'Jigoku Mushi' (hell-steamed dishes), cooked with 98-degree hot water directly from the onsen."

"The hotel is right next to Beppu Tower, and Beppu Station is also very close. It looks really nice at night. There are two supermarkets nearby, which is convenient for buying food, and it's also easy to get to several hot springs. "## Environment:
The location is very convenient, just a few minutes' walk from Beppu Station. There's a Lawson nearby and plenty of restaurants. You can walk to the beach in about 10 minutes.
On the 3rd floor, there's a free hot spring. If you want to use it, you can pick up a yukata and belt from the toiletries area on the first floor. It's on a lower level, and I didn't see it at first, so I had to come back down to get it. There's a good selection of toiletries, including disposable makeup remover and facial cleanser.
## Cleanliness:
The room's cleanliness was decent. The facilities were a bit old but still clean. The hot spring only had two hot pools, one cold pool, and a sauna. There was also an outdoor pool just big enough for one person. You just take off your clothes, rinse off, and then soak. However, when I was soaking, I noticed a lot of what looked like exfoliated dirt floating in the pool. The water circulation didn't seem to be very timely, so I only soaked for a short while and then left.
## Facilities:
There's a washing machine and dryer, which I think cost 300 yen per use. The room has a refrigerator, but it doesn't seem to have a microwave; that's probably in a common area. It's quite quiet.
## Service:
The service was very friendly. Opposite the restroom on the first floor, there's a self-service luggage storage area where you can set your own password and retrieve your belongings, which is very convenient."

"The room and the Onsen were EXACTLY like those in the listing and were absolutely stunning! The breakfast was delicious and the range more than adequate. XXiaolizi1972It's a historic hotel with a hot spring culture. Located on a mountain, it's inaccessible by public transportation; a taxi from the station costs around 100 RMB, but calling a taxi is convenient. The hotel has three private hot springs, marked with round signs outside. You can enter when you see an empty one, but there will be someone inside. Most rooms have private hot springs, and they are very nice. It's best to book a room with a private hot spring, as the other rooms are quite basic and not as refined as those around Mount Fuji. The cleanliness is also just average; the tables were dusty. Dinner is Japanese cuisine, beautiful and delicious, with fresh ingredients. Prices have increased significantly during the National Day holiday; the usual price of around 3000 RMB is quite good.

The hostel is clean and provides a drink bar with hot and cold beverages including soups. They also have mangas and a few video games provided. The room is spacious and comfortable.
Cons:
The location is about 10-15 mins from the Beppu station, but close to Donki Beppu and convenient stores. However, they DO NOT support early or late check-in. They asked us to leave the baggage unchecked and unattended when we arrived early. The point where we disappointed was the notification of the check-in time. Most hotels/ hostels in Japan support early or late check-in but seems like they don’t have enough staff for that. We didn’t realize the the check-in is required by 8pm. They called us around 7:10pm-ish to inform the check-in deadline time. And we tried to negotiate cuz we was very far away and was in the mountains. We called them back cuz we tried to speed up but it almost caused an accident. The answer we got was NOT SUPPORTIVE. They only said customers had to read the check-in time on the website (Trip.com) and they couldn’t wait even we said we would be late for 5-10 minutes at the fastest pace of our journey. Luckily, there was a group of customers who was checking when we arrived (20:05 pm) so we could check-in.

I booked the one-night, two-meal plan, and the food was incredibly generous – I even had a lot of beef leftover from dinner the second night, which was a shame! The staff were all very friendly, and the sea view was absolutely stunning.

OOlga TarIf you're considering this hotel, you'd better stay at Yula-Re.
We booked almost the largest room they have and it felt very cheap and cramped still. Glad we stayed only a single night there. The rooms are small even for Japan, and it's impossible to fit luggage under the bed, so it feels even more cramped. The bathroom has a ridiculously high floor, we tripped over the entrance so many times... And the bath is so tiny that you'll have to use Yula-Re's onsen to wash.
There are 9 or 10 floors but only one elevator, slow and tiny, so we had to wait for unreasonable time every time we wanted to go out.
The pajamas are nice but the wooden slippers are so broken they ask to kill them rather than be worn one more time. The worst was the bed cover paired with the sheet you have to use instead of a normal blanket. Felt so unhygienic...
There were several good points, though: the service was good and friendly, the location is great - just steps away from Beppu station, bus stop, combini and cafes nearby. And the possibility to freely use Yula-Re's amenities such as rooftop pool and onsen!
But then again, consider staying at Yula-Re. This hotel didn't feel like value for money.

location: it's relatively further from the station , around a 8-10min walk. there is a 7-11 just around the corner
room: my room came without a bathroom but for the ladies are 3 cubicles shared among the 7 mix gendered guests on the floor. i did not have to wait in line at all. there was more than enough space in the room to open my suitcase wide and still feel comfortable. bed and pillow was a bit hard though, and you can hear anyone talking loudly downstairs outside the building as the room is on 2nd floor, tho that doesnt happen very often.
food: amazing balanced breakfast that changes everyday - really delicious!
onsen: the one on 2F was smaller than 1F, but very good and comfortable. clean too. you can book a private onsen room for 500yen (50mins)
staff: all of them were super friendly, helpful and made me feel welcome. there are english-proficient staff available 24H as well :)

CClean_MartinI've stayed here before, and this time I brought a friend and booked a larger room. It's a historic inn, but the building and decor don't feel old at all. The Japanese-style room has a really nice vibe, and the smell of the tatami mats is so soothing. The room itself is incredibly spacious; I honestly think three or four people could comfortably stay in that one large tatami room. On the top floor, there's a hot spring with one indoor bath, a small outdoor bath, and a small sauna, all using natural hot spring water. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but all the dishes are local specialties or popular items from Oita Prefecture, so you'll definitely eat well and feel full. The downstairs parking used to be free, but now it costs 700 yen per night.

The staff are nice and accommodating. Went there earlier than check in time but I was able to leave my luggage. I got to visit the Beppu Jigokus while I was out!
During check in, i was assisted by the front desk and that made the process a lot quicker. All front desk staff I spoke to spoke English! Check out was done easily by giving the card back to front desk and confirming room number and number of people.
Didn’t state a preference so i got a smoking room. When i entered there was a lingering smoke smell but it was a quick fix with the air purifier available.
Amenities are available by the 2 floor elevator where the reception is.
Breakfast is 6:30to 9:30 just present card key to restaurant staff. They were also very nice.
Overall, would book again for the next Beppu stay. I might even get to try the onsen next time.

Good soundproofing between rooms. Only could hear passing by of trains while awake, so wasn’t a big an issue to us.

Cons: No lift!!! We had to carry our heavy & big luggages to the 2nd floor! *Should indicate shortage of this important facility in the booking system!
Only 2 parking spaces for 7 units. *Should also indicate in the booking system that parking spaces are first come first served and have to park at nearby paying car parks if both were being taken up.
Will be nice to provide some garbage bags in the room as clearing of food waste from the room was definitely necessary during the many days of our stay!
Dining table (super wobbly and one side of the table legs seemed like giving away very soon) needs to changed/repaired instantly!

EEinfachDillonNicely located hotel with free Onsen. The rooms are fairly old and mine was once a smoker friendly room, which explains the slight smell of cigarettes and the yellowish walls. It is great that the hotel is located directly in front of the main station, but be aware of outside noise.
I still slept like a stone so for the price I can recommend it.
