Older hotel, large room, high cost performance

I love Red Roof. I travel extensively with my dogs and Red Roof has always fit my needs and budget in the past. This location just didn't live up to it. When I made my reservation I requested a ground floor room. When I checked in I was told they had only a single ground floor room but the TV was not working. I figured I would only be using the room to sleep anyway so I accepted it. The front desk staff was very nice and did offer me a small discount for the broken TV. I went to the room (112) and was not able to get the door open, although the light turned green when I scanned the key. I returned to the office for help. They came to the room to show me that the handle sticks and I had to wrench it all the way up and push hard in the short time the light was green. So every single time I needed to enter my room, I had to use both hands to wrench the handle up and to the left and throw my body weight against the door at the same time to get into my room. Often I had to make several attempts to do it correctly. This was a huge hassle especially with having my hands full with dinner or two dogs and trying to get into my room. Also, I woke up on the next morning and realized wires were sticking out of the wall where the smoke detector should be. It was simply missing. I had another problem with the deadbolt popping out while I had the door open and I was unable to move it back in to close the door. I called the front desk and the clerk came to my room to help me with it. Again, the staff was exceptional. She showed me how to release it from the inside by working the handle up and down rather than using the deadbolt lever to move it. She offered to relocate me to a room on the second floor but advised me the TV was also broken in the replacement room. I had no interest in hauling all my things and two dogs upstairs to another room so I just stayed in 112. There was no coffee in the room and when I went to the lobby in the morning the large pot was empty. There was no breakfast included. Pros: The bed was comfortable and clean. Nice cold refrigerator. Microwave in the room. No idea if it worked. I didn't use it. I'm assuming it works and it's nice to have one in a room. Hot water in the shower. Great, convenient location. Safe area. Very responsive and pleasant front desk clerks. Very quiet in the room even with a fully booked hotel. Cons: Faulty door latches and sticky door (This was a HUGE issue for me to literally fight with my door every time I entered the room.) Missing smoke detector. Broken TV. No stopper in the bathroom to allow me to soak in the tub. Shower water pressure was low.. No coffee in room. No breakfast. $94 a night AFTER discount. Hair on the shower walls when I went to take a shower. The hotel is in a great location but next time I'll stay elsewhere. Next to the golf course, 15 minutes drive from the school, very close to the supermarket, complete equipment, reasonable layout, good service quality, kitchen is super easy to use, the refrigerator is big enough. I have visited many times and have the feeling of going home.

This is the cleanest and kindest hotel I've ever stayed in. I saw people cleaning walls, doors and elevators daily. Every single employee was kind and welcoming and it was genuine. These people weren't going through the motions....they meant it. Unfortunately, this isn't commonplace anymore, so it was so refreshing! The breakfast had a lot to offer, both hot and grab and go. The breakfast area was constantly being checked and cleaned. This hotel is within walking distance of the campus which was good for my son's tennis camp. THE EMPLOYEES MAKE THIS PLACE SPECIAL!!

Wow oh wow where do I begin with my valet jaden what a wonderful gentleman. He communicated well and I knew exactly what was happening. I could talk about him for days but I want to leave the review short. My overall experience especially with jaden was amazing at Double tree in Lansing

There are not many varieties of breakfast, but the taste is good. The room has two 1.5m beds, suitable for families with 2 children. The room breakfast is also 4 servings. The hotel is located in a commercial area, surrounded by restaurants, shops, cinemas, and not. How to eat delicious Chinese restaurants, parking lot is relatively large, parking is free.

I can't say enough good things about this place! I've been staying there for many years. I have severe allergies and this place is always good - especially the air quality. I got very sick on this trip and had to extend my stay significantly. The staff was exceptional in making sure I was okay and had everything I needed. I was very grateful and extremely impressed by their helpfulness. It was so greatly appreciated!

The facilities are complete but the old ones are old. It is very convenient to have breakfast, so you don't have to go out to find it, especially for people who don't have a car for the time being. There is a swimming pool on the first floor, which is generally used by no one. It is a decoration, there are places around, there will be a lot of old and beautiful chat.

The place was recently renovated. The lobby was about the only area well kept. The exterior doors rarely worked with key which was annoying because the place was sprawled out. Inside you had to pass through a bunch of fire doors. I get it, but really dates the place. Vivid seems to be a great excuse for housekeeping not to do their job. Trash and soiled laundry was in the halls all day and night. When returning later at night we called the front desk and the night desk person ended up picking it up. The gym was decently equipped for this star level of hotel. The water fountain in the gym had two gum wads spit out in it. Gross! I was working out in there and a cleaning person walked on passed it. The rooms were nice. The upgrade looked good, but the bathroom fell short. Covering the same ugly fluorescent light with an ugly fixture took away from the upgrades. Outside the exterior door is a smoker ashtray on the wall, yet people still threw their butts on the ground. I guess that’s what I should expect for a 2 1/2 star hotel.
