VIP Executive Zurique Hotel

Baixa Lisbon|1.79km from Prometeu
My recent stay at the VIP Executive Zurique Hotel was acceptable. This hotel has so much potential, and some more attention in a few areas would go a long way in transforming this property to one of a higher quality. The service was excellent. Employees were all compassionate and professional. In addition, the food offered in the hotel’s restaurant was of high quality. Prices at the property were fair. From a value point of view, I expected a bit more. I paid €439 for my eight-day stay. In addition, dinner was expensive and extremely limited. More specifically, in terms of amenities, the hotel boasts a beautiful outdoor pool area. Unfortunately, it was often overcrowded and littered with garbage. More attention to detail would remedy these issues. Wifi was available, but weak in certain parts of the hotel. A bar is located in the lobby, but opens late and closes early in the evening, making it inaccessible. The gym was closed during my time here. That was also unfortunate, as images and descriptions on websites were misleading. I stayed in an Executive Single Room during my week here. The room itself was contemporary and updated, however, housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days, my room was cleaned impeccably, others, housekeeping was abysmal or nonexistent. Towels oftentimes had rips or stains on them. The curtains had small rips and were stained. In addition, one of the blankets was stained. The provided toiletries were good. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were very poor quality. The hotel did not specially publicize a smoking policy. Oftentimes, the corridors reeked of smoke. Cigarettes littered the pool deck and common areas in the hotel. Staff worked hard to keep surfaces in the lobby disinfected, however, their efforts were undermined by thousands of guests utilizing these areas. I do believe the hotel is understaffed. The hotel would benefit from having maintenance and housekeeping readily available and on call for assistance. When I necessitated maintenance, I was told I would have to wait for the following morning when the technician would be available. While the rooms were updated and contemporary, the bathrooms were rundown. The hotel shows it’s apparent age on the exterior, and in the elevators. Some surfaces were cracked and not functional. I experienced difficulties in the elevators. They stopped working at times, leaving me stuck. Again, better maintenance would remedy these concerns. The location of the hotel is a positive. It is surrounded by transit options that provide direct links to cities all across the country. This is ideal for all visitors. Overall, the hotel served it’s purpose. I do believe the hotel is ill equipped to handle the high volume of guests that stay here. Housekeeping is marginal, and must be improved. Maintenance needs to pay closer attention to the aging property. Finally, security here is lacking. I have some concerns as it pertains to safety. Front desk staff has no control over people

Do not stay at this hotel at any cost, it is by far the worst hotel we have ever stayed in - I don’t even know where to start. Firstly the hotel provided pictures on the website/Trip Advisor are incredibly misleading or at least very old as the rooms are in terrible condition. We stayed in 2 different rooms and they were equally as bad as each other. They are dark, have large damp stains all over the walls, mould and dubious stains all throughout the bathroom and shower, holes/gaps in the walls and skirting boards, shower doors don’t close and are coming off hinges and the toilet flushes are hanging on for dear life any time you push in. There was also an incredibly strong drain smell coming from the bathroom - the staff are obviously aware this is an ongoing issue, as when we entered the room, there was a makeshift keycard in the lighting panel in order to keep the lights/extractor fan on all day to try and relieve the smell. This did not work. The cleanliness on the hotel is also disgusting and it is likely infested with cockroaches - on the second night I had a very large cockroach climb up my leg in the bathroom before darting back into a hole in the wall. When notifying the staff and asking for them to deal with the cockroach they didn’t seem bothered and insisted that the hotel doesn’t have cockroaches and that “other guests must have brought them in”. 40 minutes later (around 10:30pm) the staff called our room, rudely telling us to pack our bags whilst they find a new room. After waiting 20 minutes at reception late at night, we were finally shown to a new room, only to find it wasn’t empty and someone was already asleep in the bed. This poor person was rudely awoken at around 11pm and without even a hesitation or apology, the staff just forced us out of the room and closed the door behind them. On top of this, during our stay (when it was 28°c outside) the A/C wasn’t working properly, and was only spewing out warm air. This made sleeping unbearable. When raised with reception they couldn’t care less and fobbed us off saying someone would look at it shortly. They never came. After chasing the reception staff several times, they admitted it wasn’t working throughout the whole hotel and that a technician will have it fixed by the morning, only offering a fan when pressured. The A/C was not fixed at all for our entire stay - I imagine it never will be. Despite their attempts to deceive us, their air con is clearly an ongoing issue as they have a room full of fans ready to hand out to guests. It should be illegal to advertise the hotel rooms with air con if they have no intention of fixing the air con. We were not the only guest to complain about the lack of air con or the cleanliness of the rooms. Normally we would have upped and left after the cockroach incident, however, as we had prepaid through a 3rd party agent with a difficult refund policy, we couldn’t guarantee we would get our money back if we left. This is almost a moot point tho

As it is said in the other comments, the rooms are very badly soundproofed... We were given a room on the street side, with a window that did not close properly, and as a result we slept very badly! We decided to leave after the first night, as there was only one room left that we did not want. After having had the MANAGER on the phone, we were told that we would be reimbursed (over 200€). Strangely my card was not working for the refund, ok, and that it was not possible in cash. We were then told that we would receive a transfer within 1 to 2 weeks... I have been waiting for 2 MONTHS! I have had no answer to my emails and on the phone, I'm clearly being pushed around. It's unacceptable, I work at the reception of a hotel in France, we refund our customers! ESPECIALLY when they promise us!!!!!! It's not only unprofessional but also dishonest.

This hotel has lower prices than others of the same service and quality, especially if you're booking in advance. The problem is that after it's fully booked they start cancelling the cheap bookings to make space for the more profitable ones, leaving the people who booked first without a reservation a few days before arriving or even the day of arrival, like it happened to me. I booked this hotel in December for three nights on Easter 2022, I chose it because it was the cheapest option for a good hotel in a central location. The day before I arrived I got a notification from Booking that I needed to update my credit card details, because it was not working, so I updated the information, but the problem persisted. I wrote the hotel to confirm my reservation and that my credit card was working perfectly, and they replied that it was OK and that they were waiting for me. When I arrived to the hotel happily to start my first holidays after two years of covid, they told me that my reservation was cancelled because they couldn't charge the credit card and that it was fully booked. But that they had a hotel nearby with available rooms for a price 60 euros per night higher than my original reservation (180 euros in total higher than the original, for a room of two people). I refused because I was very angry and I didn't trust them, so I ended up making a new reservation using Booking that was 240 euros more expensive than the original (80 euros per night) and without breakfast, because there were only a few rooms available in whole Lisbon, even in cities nearby. The new hotel was not luxurius, it was basically a hostel that was more expensive than normal because the city was fully booked, it was much more expensive than going to London or New York. So I don't recommend anyone to trust their holidays or financial security to this hotel, please avoid it, there are much better options in Lisbon, it's better to pay 10 or 20 euros more per night than 80, and to lose you experience in Lisbon. I'm not a native English speaker but I'm writting in English to increase the scope of my experience to prevent future travellers of this tourist trap.

Hubby and I stayed at this hotel in Lisbon. Reception was very welcoming. Hotel room and bathroom were clean. Heating was fantastic. We had a little balcony facing the street. The room has everything-mini fridge, ironing board, iron, internet...all necessities were provided. There is no parking that the hotel owns. That is a downside. We parked in the street (meter parking). The hotel is central. We didn't order breakfast but heard we could. Keys for the hotel and room are given to you once you have checked and paid. Hotel was worth the price. We slept well as bed was comfortable. Hotel is small and RECOMMENDED for short stays only. Thank you!!

I wouldn't know where to start. Book in April 2022 for August. I was confirmed the reservation but apparently they were wrong with the price and instead of a double room with bathroom put the one of a four-fold room with shared bathroom. They called me when I was on the train to Madrid to fly to Lisbon telling me that either I paid more than €100 or I stayed in the room to share or on the street. When I made the reservation I didn't choose this accommodation for the price, more or less everyone had a similar price but with the time they went up and did not accept your mistake. The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable and very comfortable. The room was very comfortable and was very comfortable. The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable. We called through a door that was in our room nearby to the manager to tell us. We complained about the cleaning and the host, who was there, told us that by chance that day was the only one who didn't review the cleaning, curiosity. The room was cleaned in the next day, despite the fact that you were charged a extra for cleaning. The closure at midday had not been fixed, we could close the room to be able to get out, something is something. In the night if it was fixed. The room was very comfortable and the room was very comfortable. My advice: you don't stay in this hole and the one who has stayed in the room that comes out on the photo, which you don't just cheat, is not as it seems.

The owner’s wife has zero understanding in hospitality. Her receptionist took our credit card for security and let us in. After being already in the room, we noticed a very bad smell. We had to change rooms. Then she came and didn’t stop talking (while all we wanted was to quickly be moved to the new room), and in addition, told us we can’t enter the new room before we actually pay for the room, as if the security credit card authorisation wasn’t enough. We ended up sitting in the hallway with our stuff until payment was made. That was an frustrating experience and bad practice . Even if the receptionist made a mistake, the owner should back up that mistake and not take the keys that were already given to us. The hotel is in a very bad shape. Rooms are too small. They charge for water (which should always be complementary). Breakfast lacks healthy options such as a granola bowl with fresh fruits and yogurt. No fresh fruit juice and bad coffee. Before leaving the cleaning lady just barged in the room without even knocking. The hotel is ran by a couple and they have A LOT to learn about hospitality.

Perfect place to stay for a visit to Lisbon. Good location close to the subway with clean and nicely decorated rooms. And the lady who runs the place is wonderful, all laughs and super helpful with any questions you might have. One should know however that her English is not great, but when using google translate communication flowed easily anyways. Would definitely recommend, we had a great time here.
