VIP Executive Zurique Hotel

Baixa Lisbon|2.51km from Sinagoga Shaaré Tikva

My recent stay at the VIP Executive Zurique Hotel was acceptable. This hotel has so much potential, and some more attention in a few areas would go a long way in transforming this property to one of a higher quality. The service was excellent. Employees were all compassionate and professional. In addition, the food offered in the hotel’s restaurant was of high quality. Prices at the property were fair. From a value point of view, I expected a bit more. I paid €439 for my eight-day stay. In addition, dinner was expensive and extremely limited. More specifically, in terms of amenities, the hotel boasts a beautiful outdoor pool area. Unfortunately, it was often overcrowded and littered with garbage. More attention to detail would remedy these issues. Wifi was available, but weak in certain parts of the hotel. A bar is located in the lobby, but opens late and closes early in the evening, making it inaccessible. The gym was closed during my time here. That was also unfortunate, as images and descriptions on websites were misleading. I stayed in an Executive Single Room during my week here. The room itself was contemporary and updated, however, housekeeping was inconsistent. Some days, my room was cleaned impeccably, others, housekeeping was abysmal or nonexistent. Towels oftentimes had rips or stains on them. The curtains had small rips and were stained. In addition, one of the blankets was stained. The provided toiletries were good. The bed itself was comfortable, but the pillows were very poor quality. The hotel did not specially publicize a smoking policy. Oftentimes, the corridors reeked of smoke. Cigarettes littered the pool deck and common areas in the hotel. Staff worked hard to keep surfaces in the lobby disinfected, however, their efforts were undermined by thousands of guests utilizing these areas. I do believe the hotel is understaffed. The hotel would benefit from having maintenance and housekeeping readily available and on call for assistance. When I necessitated maintenance, I was told I would have to wait for the following morning when the technician would be available. While the rooms were updated and contemporary, the bathrooms were rundown. The hotel shows it’s apparent age on the exterior, and in the elevators. Some surfaces were cracked and not functional. I experienced difficulties in the elevators. They stopped working at times, leaving me stuck. Again, better maintenance would remedy these concerns. The location of the hotel is a positive. It is surrounded by transit options that provide direct links to cities all across the country. This is ideal for all visitors. Overall, the hotel served it’s purpose. I do believe the hotel is ill equipped to handle the high volume of guests that stay here. Housekeeping is marginal, and must be improved. Maintenance needs to pay closer attention to the aging property. Finally, security here is lacking. I have some concerns as it pertains to safety. Front desk staff has no control over people

This is a lovely hotel.  Great location.  I managed to walk to most places which saved money on transport. Close to restaurants, tourist attractions and the metro Rato (yellow line).  There isn't a supermarket too close.  The nearest one is maybe a fifteen minute walk which was fine.  Very clean hotel.  Staff were all so friendly, super helpful and nice.  Room was big and spacious.  Nice comfortable big bed, hot water, safe, complimentary toiletries as well as tea and coffee making facilities.  I couldn't fault it.  It was like staying in a grand house.  Like stepping back in time.  Take a look at the decor and furniture.  Very secure and safe.  No lift.  Checking in and out was quick and easy.  I only had breakfast on the last morning there.  I normally don't like hotel breakfasts and prefer to go out and try different things but I have to say this was good.  Not huge but enough options.  Lovely.  There were scrambled eggs, cold meats and cheeses, some pastries, fresh fruit, cereals, breads, orange juice as well as tea and coffee.  The chocolate cereal was yummy!  Very clean too.  A few small negatives.  It can be a bit noisy outside as the hotel is located on a main road (depends where your room is) but this did not bother me.  There was a funny smell in the room like a drain or something.  I couldn't figure it out.  As I said the hotel and room were very clean.  When you shower, even if you put the water on a lower temperature, the bathroom really steams up.  They need some ventilation.  Other than that, highly recommend.  Lisbon is not a cheap city for accommodation and this is a very good option to be close to everything.  I was out all day.  I came back late at night to sleep, shower and then off again the next morning to do the same thing!  This was perfect for my needs and great to come back to in the evening.

The Altis Suites apartments are a great option for a family city break in Lisbon. We travelled with 2 teenage boys for a long weekend in Oct, and this apartment provided everything we needed. The welcome from the staff was wonderful and they couldn't do enough to help us. The apartments benefit from the use of the facilities at the Altis Grand Hotel next door, which is very handy (particularly if you have time to kill before a flight home for instance). One of the reasons we booked Altis through Love Holidays was the use of the spa facilities in the hotel - this caused some consternation at the hotel as apartment users are technically required to pay an additional charge. But this was not what was advertised on the Love Holidays site, so given we booked in good faith that we could use the spa and pool FOC the Altis staff allowed us to do so - thank you for your understanding. Altis Suites are in a good location - an upmarket neighbourhood, 20min walk into the city centre, 5min walk to the nearest Metro station (we found the metro/tram/bus system very easy to use and good value). The apartments are very spacious with a big bedroom, living room (with sofa bed) and bathroom. Beds are comfy. Rooms spotlessly clean, and cleaned daily. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the apartments are quite dated, with some items on their last legs - the reason I can't award 4 stars. Our fridge didn't work - this was promptly replaced by the staff, but with a bigger model that didn't fit into the recess. The shower head over the bath was old and twisted round so that it wouldn't direct straight. There was also a persistent drain smell in the bathroom. None of these were major issues and didn't impinge on our enjoyment, but prevent an ”excellent” rating. Overall, a great stay in Lisbon and I would recommend Altis Suites apartments for a family break.

Room was clean, have both towels and hand towels, changed every day with clean ones. Pillows were good. To use room safe must pay deposit plus 2 euros/day. Has room phone but no phone directory, so unable to phone housekeeping or reception. Had to go down to reception to complain about the choked sink (wash basin): Sink choked, flowing very slowly, waste water accumulated took long time to drain away. However nothing done. Complained in the morning and in the afternoon about the choked sink and unable to use the room phone since no directory. Reception staff in the afternoon did not take note about the choked sink. He said hotel does not give housekeeping phone number to guests. I said that I want to complain to the manager. He said that he had passed on many complaints to his manager, though his manager said “yes, yes” but he saw no change, including the fact that room phone has no directory to call reception or housekeeping. (When we returned 11 days later, there was still no phone directory in our hotel room.) The following morning I told the reception staff that the sink was still choked. He was surprised and he went to our room to see the sink. After seeing that the sink was choked, he assured me that the sink would be cleared. Sure enough, when we returned to the hotel in the evening, the c hoked sink was cleared. Has to climb 6 steps to reach lift/elevator. This can be a problem for older folks with heavy luggage. On our return stay, the room was much smaller. Could not close door of shower room when standing in front of wash basin. Mini fridge did not work and none available for replacement. Toiletry tray in shower area was missing. Not enough space to stand for showering, making it impossible to have a proper shower. Holder for shower nozzle too loose, could not stay in position except when hose was pressed against the wall.

We Have been coming to lisbon for sixteen years (16 years)! And so far this is our best experience when it comes toooo... Dificult to describe in words what we saw.... The place its location its design is incredible... a whole upper level compared to what we are offered overall in Portugal. The food was excellent from starters to main courses and desert. Also the wine selection is very well chosen. When it comes to the service that was our biggest delight! Our server was a lovely woman called MARIA (from Guinea) - and she made it very special for us. Very kind and present and attentive and caring, to all the small details during the service and for that we are GRATEFULL. We will be back soon because this is what we recognize as ”EXCELLENCE! Keep the good work, MAMA!

The location is good and the apartment is new, but it is a pity to treat the client, not for bad education of staff who were educated at all times, but for business policy. The room was very clean and the room was very clean and the room was very clean. Parking in a landscape without cover and without stamp to call the reception. When we paid the parking, we were charged a supplement for paying it with a card. Then they ask us credit card data to be able to pay a charge if we broke a glass, we lost a cushion... There was a price ratio for each loss or break in the apartment. When we entered the apartment we had to call because the bathroom grip was broken and clearly we called to see it not to be to pay it. The most humiliating was when we went to the receptionist accompanied us to the apartment to see if everything was right: he told the message, he watched if the air conditioning, the TV (after all, only 7 Portuguese channels), Even the washing machine that when she was panished, she was not seeing at simple sight (as I thought we were in the bag). Finally, we're a bad experience so when we're back to Lisbon we'll go to other apartments or hotels where they haven't treated us as criminals at other times.
