We got to the hotel at 6pm when check in was supposed to be at 3 and our king bed room still wasn’t ready. So they “upgraded” us to a king suite 20 minutes later. We get to the suit the door is broken on the hinge so you have to slam the door to close it. The heat in the room you can’t adjust so we had to unplug it from the wall. The thermostat on the wall is out of batteries. The room smelled like someone was literally just staying in here, did not smell clean. Sounded like there was a crack head underneath us banging on the ceiling and yelling. The elevator had issues so we took the stairs. The pool was closed. Only pro is check outs at 12 & the comforters on the bed were cozy.

The first room assigned to me had no heat. Next room the one that I stayed in was far from the elevators even though the hotel was empty.

Floors were filthy, bedding had cigarette holes and stains, there was a hole in the wall with a receipt crammed into it. The vending machines were empty, they had a small store near the reception desk but they wouldn’t let me use a card or charge it to my room. It was cash only. Worst hotel experience I’ve ever had.

Broken bed, non-smoke room reeked of smoke. I hosted my family so they could go to a Steelers game. Very embarrassing how bad this hotel visit was for them.

McKnight Hotel was formerly the Hampton Inn, which makes finding the hotel confusing, because it is no longer a Hampton Inn! Mapquest and others still refer to it as such.
It was very clean and comfortable. Beds excellent with very nice furniture. Excellent coffee in the morning. There was a "grab and go" complementary breakfast box, but not the usual breakfast one might expect when reserving the hotel.
Also very minimal staffing in the evening but we were able to find someone to help us with paying for water and snacks.

Overall it was a decent stay! I slept well and enjoyed the black out curtains. Only problems were that the sink looked as if it wasn't cleaned at all. It had a few short black hairs in it and some leftover toothpaste (My boyfriend and I have dirty blonde hair). The tub drained extremely slow and it looked like black mold in the corners of the shower. The area wasn’t bad, just off of a busy road. I do wish there were more lights in the parking lot as it was hard to see at night when turning in.

Second time staying here. It's a no-frills place, but nice for the price. Room was clean and had a mini-fridge but no microwave. Front desk people were all friendly. Free coffee/tea/hot chocolate in lobby, and free box breakfast in mornings. Close to downtown Pittsburgh (and Pittsburgh Zoo). Pool was nice (but a bit of sand in patches at bottom). Looks like a decent gym next to pool, but I didn't use it. For the price and location, we had no complaints about either of our stays.

Staff friendly, check in smooth, main building clean, breakfast box was creative, room was clean except the floors..needed to be vacuumed and just looked over better
