Great experience overall!
Room - clean and large, very new.
Service - guest experience agent in concierge is awesome! I really appreciate the service Ami provided. The restaurant recommendations/ books have been very smooth. English communication is also great! Hassin sushi (八新壽司) is a must go omakase sushi place while typpenyaki place recommended also provided excellent quality wagyu beef. We also tried western style breakfast recommended (莊園小町) Super nice too!
Onsen - very new with splendid view. Just some business visitors from south east Asia who are not familiar with onsen rules were very noisy.
Food - breakfast is quite nice - suggest trying it outside.
Location - needs to driver around 10-20 mins to the restaurants in the city but overall all ok
Free valet parking is good.
Overall excellent experience!
Sanso Kannawaen is dotted with the main building, annex, detached building, and Sorakan on a vast site of 45,000 square meters. Located on a hill in Beppu City, it has a great view, and there are rooms with a panoramic view of Beppu city and Beppu Bay. There are various room types, such as Japanese-Western style rooms and Western style rooms, so it can be used for various occasions. All rooms have their own hot spring bath, and you can enjoy the "mysterious blue water" that is 100% natural spring water whenever you like during your stay.
The large public bath on the top floor, which was renovated in August 2024 and is exclusively for guests, has various baths such as indoor baths, open-air baths, box steam baths, cypress baths, and ceramic baths, so you can enjoy the hot springs to the fullest. From the open-air bath, you can enjoy a spectacular view of Beppu, which will be a special moment. *The color of the blue water changes depending on the day.
You can choose your favorite plan from Japanese kaiseki and teppanyaki. Please enjoy dinner at the restaurant, where each chef has prepared a meal using carefully selected ingredients.
The grounds include a Japanese garden and a Noh theater, and the traditional beauty of Japan can be felt everywhere. Antiques and modern paintings are on display inside the building, allowing you to enjoy a moment out of the ordinary.
"Hell," a tourist spot in Beppu, is within walking distance, making it an ideal base for sightseeing in Beppu. There is also a luggage storage service before check-in and after check-out, so you can enjoy sightseeing to the fullest. Guests can use the shuttle service from Beppu Station (advance reservation required) and the parking lot free of charge. All rooms are non-smoking, but there is a smoking area within the facility.

I recently stayed at a hotel booked through Trip.com, and while the location, cleanliness, and facilities were quite nice, I had a very disappointing experience with the service provided by the hotel staff.
When I booked the hotel, the description on Trip.com (in Korean) clearly indicated that the room would have two beds and two floor beds. However, upon arrival, we found that the room only had two beds and one floor bed. When I brought this discrepancy to the attention of the hotel staff, they informed me that we would need to pay extra for an additional floor bed. They explained that the description in the itinerary merely indicated the maximum capacity of the room and that, since we had booked meals for only three people (breakfast and dinner), we could not receive an extra floor bed at no charge. I opted for the three-person meal plan because one of my family members is a five-year-old child who does not eat much, and I wanted to avoid unnecessary food waste.
I understand that interpretations of the itinerary may vary, but the attitude of the hotel staff was unacceptable. During my communication with them, I was put on hold for five minutes, only to be told that there was nothing they could do. After urging them to adhere to the terms of the itinerary, I was placed on hold again for ten minutes. Unfortunately, I had to hang up as it was time for dinner, and the hotel did not follow up with any response after I returned.
This experience significantly affected my family's mood, and what was supposed to be a pleasant stay turned into a frustrating ordeal. I hope that Trip.com can address this issue to prevent future guests from having similar experiences.

This hotel has a great breakfast with a wide variety of options. I stayed in a standard room for two nights and was quite satisfied. I added another night in a Japanese-style room. I'm not used to staying in such a room because the toilet cubicle in the bathroom is too small!

Personal opinion as a Asian female solo traveler.
Great location: around 5 mins walk from Beppu station. There are a lot of restaurants and 2 Lawson nearby. It's super easy to have access to food. Their lobby cafe also serves good coffee.
Exterior: I heard they renovated the hotel recently, so the building and rooms and onsen all look new and classic.
Room: clean, neat, a bit small but acceptable. Especially appreciate that there is an air purifier in the room without prior/extra request.
Amenities facilities: You name it, they have it. More than just basic amenities. Especially appreciate ice maker on the 4th floor and self-service of skin products on the 1st floor, they have good sunscreen.
Front desk: They don't speak much English, but they really try their best. Wonderful hospitality. Especially the elderly staffs. Super friendly and welcoming.
Overall, it is more than a nice option for a budget hotel. If ever stop by Beppu in the future, i would be happy to stay again.

Everything was great. Service was excellent and there was English speaking staff for those who need it. There’s also welcome drinks between 1800-2100 and people get to choose their pillow and other amenities. However, being Beppu, I would have thought the onsen area is a bit bigger but that’s standard size for normal super series hotel. Everything was very clean. Overall great experience

The room is super big, a bit wasteful, 40-50 square meters, all tatami, can accommodate up to 6 people, we booked the last room for 3 people, and the other cheaper room types were all sold out. It was a splurge.
Because the price includes breakfast and dinner, there is a waiter to lead the way and introduce all the facilities and catering as soon as you enter the hotel. It is a blonde and blue-eyed lady.
There are two large baths in the hot spring pool, indoor and outdoor small pools, men and women change once a day, very dry and hygienic, which is a thumbs up, the water is also good, but it is cold when taking a shower.
In terms of meals, the breakfast is very rich, and there is sashimi of unknown fish. I met a treasure island lady who helped us a lot, I like it! Dinner, well, it has high reviews online, but, each experience it.

The service is beyond excellence, the food is exceptionally good and well presented. What a wonderful experience. We didn’t travel by car and missed out a bit of time causing our stay a bit rushy. Highly recommend self-drive tourists to consider this accommodation when plan a visit to Yufuin. A very glamours glamping experience. A small reminder, try avoiding rainy season in Japan and you will have a much better experience. Oh, cooler days are perfectly fine.

Outstanding
杨杨This hotel has very few Chinese reviews. Maybe it hasn't been discovered yet! It’s already the sixth day of travel in Beppu, and it’s safe to say that you’ve met the best hotel in your travels. Breakfast and dinner are very rich, and the rare thing is that the taste is also very good, so the first point will be mentioned. The second point to mention is the excellent service attitude, the small brother's squatting service at the time of check-in. The young lady who sent the guest was also driving far away in the car and still waving her farewell. The front desk can speak English and there is a Chinese staff. The items we left were specifically called and arranged for handover. Very careful. The service is completely satisfactory. The hotel is not walking distance from Beppu Station, but you can find an information desk at the station to help you make a call. There is a special bus to pick up in about 10 minutes. Extremely convenient. There is also a free delivery service on time. The hotel also has a number of parking spaces, it is recommended to call first. The hotel room is small but adequate for dinner in the room. There are also two family soups that require an appointment. There is also a soup, because there are not too many people can enjoy a more intimate space. It was a very satisfying stay.
HHok Ming KarlWe booked a package with dinner and breakfast for two days and one night. Since we don’t eat beef, the clerk replaced the Hell Steamer and gave us a family soup. It was under maintenance and it didn’t have much impact because the room has a private hot spring. Since I didn’t want to bathe outside, I booked a room with a bathroom. The experience was very good and very comfortable. The clerk was very proactive in using Google Translate to communicate and was very friendly. It was a good experience during this trip to Beppu! The only thing is that it would be better if the room lighting could be warmer.
RRaymondo WONGBeppu is an excellent choice. The accommodation is located on the upper floor of a shop. The space is very, very large. The indoor equipment and materials are all high-end goods, and all the necessary facilities for life are available. The industrial style interior decoration does not give you the feeling of staying in a hotel, but rather a home feeling.
If you can only check in after 6 o'clock, remember to ask the boss for the password required for the check-in procedure. This is only the password for entering the store for the first time. There is an iPad on the counter inside. Follow the procedure displayed on the iPad to check in. Then a password to enter your room will be displayed. This password is also the password to enter the store later.
Parking can be done in parking lot 1 or 2 according to the map provided by the store, and there are ample parking spaces.
SSarah H.Beautiful hotel located in a very peaceful and green area with magnificent views of the mountains and smoke from hot springs. The hotel itself has hot springs and baths in a lovely garden. Very nice and spacious room with lots of toiletries available downstairs. Within walking distance of the 7 hells of Beppu.
EErasedejiyiThis hotel is very cost-effective and has good services. The facilities are a bit old, but it does not affect the use. The room is big enough and the bed is comfortable. There are not many people in the hot spring pool, two indoor and outdoor, with three or four bathing places respectively. There is a microwave on the tenth floor of the hotel. Opposite the room we stayed is a large lawn with a good view. There is a large supermarket on foot. There is also a restaurant that makes delicious tempura next to the hotel. If you go late, you have to queue. I will consider it next time.
YYUNGYIThe hotel is next to the Shulun Bus Center, the White Pool Hell, and the steam room. There is a small supermarket at 7 minutes and a 10-minute walk at the hotel. It's great that the milky hot spring water is not clear water, there are indoor and outdoor wind

YyousobeautifulIt’s better to find it at night. It’s very close to Beppu Station. It takes about 10 minutes to walk according to the map. The room is on the 2nd floor. If the box is heavy, it’s a bit difficult to move.
박박규한This is the place I always stay when I come to Beppu.
When I come to Beppu, I always look for accommodations through Airbnb.
Due to the nature of Japan, it is difficult to find a large room. Com House is a very comfortable place for two people to stay from the smallest room 301 to the 4th floor.
In addition to the comfortable and spacious space, the accommodation is equipped with various kitchenware, so it is a great environment for me who usually stays long term.
The coast is close, so it is good to go for a walk at night,
and Yume Town is less than a 4-minute walk away,
so even if it is a bit far from Beppu Station, it is not a big problem.
(It is a 10-minute walk, and for tourists, it seems that the bus station is closer than Beppu Station.)
The master is also a kind and warm person. When I first stayed at this accommodation, he came to fix the broken air conditioner even though it was evening. He was a really nice person who liked small talk.
There are only stairs, so it is a little inconvenient to move your luggage, but even with that, this is the accommodation I always look for first when I come to Beppu.
GGuest UserA newly opened small tourist hotel, where the guests are mainly Japanese. The hygiene is good, but the location is far from the city center and not close to the beach. It is inconvenient if you don't have a car. Maybe there were more Japanese customers, so the staff didn't speak English at all, so communication was difficult. What’s more outstanding is that there is a hot spring not far away, which is divided into private family pools and public pools. You need to make an appointment at the store for the private family pool, and you usually have to wait for a long time. You can make an appointment and go back at the appointed time.
