Mountain View Hotels in Beppu

After reading other reviews, they were all overwhelmingly positive. Having stayed in numerous hotels, the ANA InterContinental Beppu definitely ranks in my top three. First, let's talk about transportation: Beppu Station is quite small. Remember to exit from the West Exit (this was told to us by the hotel shuttle driver; apparently, many international guests wait for a long time at the East Exit only to find out it's the West Exit). The hotel is about a twenty-minute drive away. Next, the service: What was really surprising is that more than half of the hotel staff are non-Japanese. Every single foreign staff member spoke excellent Japanese, with perfect mastery of honorifics. Finally, the room facilities: The onsen (hot spring bath) is small but beautiful. The infinity pool isn't very deep, making it suitable for children. It was still a bit chilly in March, but luckily, there's a warm pool nearby where you can soak for a while. The restaurant offers great value for money. Children aged 6-12 get half price, which is around 2,700 yen. In the evening, there's an all-you-can-drink option for adults at 5,000 yen, including sparkling wine, house wine, shochu, and beer.

What an amazing place! We had a wonderful time “glamping” at the Grand Verde Resort. From first being greeted upon check in till our departure the attention to detail and hospitality were top notch! We especially loved the delicious breakfast and dinner spread, the Public Bath, and sauna, and the hobbit houses. The gorgeous views from our yurt in the mountains were breathtaking and we were able to see millions of stars at night on the clear evenings. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars!!! Highly recommend this place for your next getaway!

A truly perfect experience, highly recommended! Extremely high value for money!!! The dinner selection was so extensive, we couldn't possibly finish it all. The service was also excellent! The private onsen (hot spring bath) was a bit small, with each session lasting 50 minutes. Reservations weren't possible, but you could simply tell the front desk if you wanted to go and it would be available anytime. The large public bath was also great, with an open-air onsen. We booked an ocean-view room, which offered direct views of Beppu Bay's sunrise and sunset. In short, a hot spring inn I would definitely want to return to!

No car? No problem! Right next to Beppu Station, there's a dedicated waiting room for the hotel, so you don't have to worry about rain or snow. Plus, there's a free shuttle bus every 20 minutes. The hotel is situated on a hill, offering expansive views from all common areas. Inside, there's a large gift shop and a game center, perfect for both adults and children. Even though my room had a mountain view, I had no regrets; seeing the misty mountains and the steam from the hot springs was very characteristic of Beppu. Of course, the most important part is the hot springs! I'm not sure if there are private baths, but the public bathhouse was already fantastic! There are three large outdoor tiered pools, so even with a lot of people, it doesn't feel crowded or awkward. They overlook the bay, and the front-most pool even allows you to lie down – I really loved that spot. There are also several smaller single-person pools. The sauna was surprisingly in the outdoor area too; although small, it also offered sea views. And there were at least three cleaning staff constantly tidying up, keeping both the pools and floors very clean. I soaked in the hot springs three times during my one-night stay ♨️ – it was incredibly relaxing! Dinner was a buffet with a wide variety of dishes, and you could drink as much beer, red wine, white wine, and sake as you wanted! All the desserts were delicious. One more thing: even though I didn't take photos, I noticed many child-friendly details, such as a kids' food corner and utensils at the buffet, and changing tables in the hot spring changing rooms. It was my first time seeing this at a hot spring hotel, which is quite rare. I took the wrong train when I arrived, delaying my plans for an entire day. Combined with the rain, traveling solo, without a car, and not wanting to walk around in the wet, I only did one thing in Beppu: I just enjoyed the hotel 😹. Booking a good hotel is really important; my mood completely improved once I got here 🫶🏻

Beppu is an excellent choice. The accommodation is located on the upper floor of a shop. The space is very, very large. The indoor equipment and materials are all high-end goods, and all the necessary facilities for life are available. The industrial style interior decoration does not give you the feeling of staying in a hotel, but rather a home feeling. If you can only check in after 6 o'clock, remember to ask the boss for the password required for the check-in procedure. This is only the password for entering the store for the first time. There is an iPad on the counter inside. Follow the procedure displayed on the iPad to check in. Then a password to enter your room will be displayed. This password is also the password to enter the store later. Parking can be done in parking lot 1 or 2 according to the map provided by the store, and there are ample parking spaces.

A cozy inn in the Kannawa area. Perfect for those who want to avoid spending time traveling, as it's close to the ”Hell Tour” hot springs. We enjoyed all-you-can-eat wagyu steak, a buffet, and à la carte dishes brought to our table, ensuring we could eat piping hot food. Alcohol and soft drinks were also all-you-can-drink. I wanted to try everything, but unfortunately, I'm getting older and can't eat as much. The hot springs had a limited variety of baths, but bath towels and regular towels were available in the main bath, so it was nice to be able to use fresh ones each time. I would like to visit again with my family if I have the opportunity.

This hotel boasts a great location, perfect for enjoying the scenic steam rising from Yumetake. However, the view of Kannawa was a bit disappointing due to ongoing construction in front. Among all the ryokans I've stayed at in the Kannawa area, this one had the largest open-air bath – it was absolutely wonderful! Dinner was neat and tidy. I distinctly remember selecting a room with a bathtub when booking, but the room I was assigned didn't have one. I knew that rooms with and without bathtubs had different prices, so it left a rather unsettling, even upsetting, feeling. Despite that, the hotel's location is fantastic for exploring the Hells of Beppu!

Wonderful place. I wanted to stay at a ryokan with a vintage feel, with tatami mats and futons. This was a wonderful choice! Nice room, with a dust collector, air conditioning, a thermos with tea and a tea set, a portable makeup mirror, a clothes drying rack, a nearly full-length mirror, a sitting area (table and two chairs) by the window, a refrigerator, four futons, two large and two small towels, geta slippers, and socks changed daily. Kaiseki breakfast, not everything to my taste, but I certainly didn't leave hungry. Free beer as much as you want, you pour yourself on the first floor, as well as a mini tea/coffee/water machine. The baths are amazing, beautiful!!! Very beautiful and atmospheric! It's a joy, there's no other way to describe it. All the amenities are provided, including a powerful hairdryer. Everything is thoughtfully thought out at the hotel! On the ground floor, there are disposable skin care products for after-sauna treatments. The grounds are also beautiful and well-maintained. There are umbrellas at the entrance for guests; you can borrow them and return them upon arrival. What I liked most was the view from the window of room 302; I'll attach a photo. I was also impressed with the service. I'm very grateful to the girl at reception; she was very pleasant. And since I'm from Russia and can't use taxi apps, she called a taxi for me over the phone. Thank you! I really didn't want to leave; I loved the hotel! I definitely recommend it!

Beautiful hotel located in a very peaceful and green area with magnificent views of the mountains and smoke from hot springs. The hotel itself has hot springs and baths in a lovely garden. Very nice and spacious room with lots of toiletries available downstairs. Within walking distance of the 7 hells of Beppu.

The facilities are old but seemed to be well-cleaned. We were able to walk to the park and had a lot of fun. The buffet didn't have a huge selection, but our family enjoyed it and it was delicious. The hot spring was nice and refreshing, but the deterioration and mold in the shower hose was a concern. The noise of the golf carts outside bothered me and I couldn't get a good night's sleep. Although there were some things that bothered me, we had a good time and everyone was satisfied. I'd like to use it again next time.
