Let's start with the positives: the food was decent, the bed was quite comfortable, and the facilities and environment were acceptable.
The major flaw, however, was the hygiene. I didn't notice it on the first day, but on the second morning, when I opened the curtains, I found bloodstains on one of the pillowcases and stains on the sofa. This was very difficult to accept. It's the first time I've encountered such an issue in a hotel, even budget hotels haven't had this problem. I was genuinely shocked. Please take hygiene and safety issues seriously.
Aside from that, the service quality was inconsistent. The front desk staff who handled check-in and the restaurant service on the first night were quite good. However, some of the waitstaff at breakfast were perfunctory, and communication was a bit difficult.
When checking out, I provided feedback to the front desk manager. Their attitude was good; they listened carefully to the situation and apologized, also offering a small souvenir as compensation. However, this couldn't offset the shock of waking up and opening the curtains to discover I had slept on a stained pillow all night.
Bringing a 'money house' to life: A perfect stay at Indigo Ningbo.
On this trip to Ningbo, I chose the newly opened Indigo in the Eastern New City. After my stay, all I can say is: 5 stars aren't enough; this place deserves to be seen by more people.
**Design that captivated me at first sight.** This Indigo tells the story of the 'Yongshang Money House' so completely. In the 16-meter-high lobby, vintage clocks, abacus-inspired metal grilles, and a giant replica vault door create a layered effect. Walking in truly felt like stepping back in time into an old money house. The front desk is designed like a bank note exchange counter, and the room key card is a copper key shaped like a 'money house vault key' – the attention to detail is so precise that it's not just staying in a hotel; it's like visiting a miniature museum.
**Thoughtfulness hidden in every corner of the guest room.** Starting at 45 square meters, the rooms are quite spacious. Dyson hairdryers, Nespresso coffee machines, and Bose speakers are all standard. What surprised me most were the small details: the bathrobe belt is printed with copper coins, symbolizing 'wealth and prosperity'; the laundry bag features the top hat of 'Mr. Jiangxia'; even the slippers have a key-lock pattern. The first round of the minibar is complimentary, offering soft drinks, beer, and imported sparkling water – a truly generous selection.
**The service truly has warmth.** Before checking in, the guest services manager proactively called to discuss my needs, and upon arrival, the front desk was efficient and seamless. During my stay, staff members greeted me whenever they saw me, and their enthusiasm wasn't a trained, standardized smile, but rather a genuine thoughtfulness. I heard it was my anniversary, and they even decorated the room in advance, preparing a cake and fruit. This feeling of being truly cared for is something I haven't experienced in a long time.
**The hardware lives up to the InterContinental standard.** The pool area is quite large for an Indigo brand hotel, with a design that's among the best in East China. The gym is well-equipped, even featuring Pilates reformers. Breakfast offers local specialties like yellow croaker wontons and Ningbo tangyuan, and the Western pastries are also excellent.
**The location is simply unbeatable.** It's a 400-meter walk to Ningbo Hankyu Department Store, surrounded by exhibition centers and financial headquarters, making shopping and dining convenient. It's about 20 km to Lishe Airport and 13 km to Ningbo Station, perfect for business trips or weekend getaways.
I've stayed at many Indigos, and each tells the story of its city. But this Ningbo location has truly mastered the concept of 'neighborhood culture.' From the moment you step in, you're no longer just a transient visitor but an insider to a Yongshang legend. Next time I'm in Ningbo, this will be my only choice.
