"For my first time staying overnight at Ottawa, I booked a hotel room for one night at Lord Elgin. Upon arriving early at the hotel, I was provided with a room before my check-in time - which was very appreciated. The facilities are clean and the staff is friendly. However, little did we know, our room on the 7th floor was connected to another room with adjoining doors. We were unable to sleep through the night as the room had little to no sound isolation from the connecting room, in which a baby was crying all night. I am baffled as to how we were able to hear every single noise: coughing and sneezing from the parents in the other room, their toilet flushing and the baby crying throughout the entire night. We were unable to sleep comfortably and woke up with splitting headaches. I booked this hotel to be the closest possible to the Rideau Canal Skateway, but I will have to find another hotel the next time."
"I just came back from Ottawa, and the overall feeling is good. The seller show is not cheating. It is very close to the city center, and the city hall is all walking distance. Very quiet at night, there is a balcony, the door is opened with a key"

"A very stylish and modern apartment block. Check-in and room access by codes. Our studio apartment was comfortable, kitchen well equipped and the bath/shower very clean. The gym downstairs is good and well maintained. Location is good and close to the Parliament Hill area. Only ”negative” is that window doesn't open so no fresh air gets in."
"I was a bit overjoyed about this hotel. It has a stylish design and the shower gel and cream in the room are very easy to use. I couldn’t help but buy a set to take home 😂 There are scenic spots and various restaurants nearby. If you are traveling, it is a good choice."
"Our stay at Sonder Rideau left us with mixed feelings. On the positive side, the hotel's proximity to historical sites made it convenient for our travel plans. However, the absence of on-site restaurants was a significant downside, especially for those looking for a seamless dining experience.
The cleanliness and overall atmosphere of the hotel didn't meet our expectations. We found ourselves missing the comfort and satisfaction that a well-maintained environment can provide during a trip. It's crucial for prospective guests to consider these aspects when choosing accommodations.
In summary, while Sonder Rideau offers a location ideal for history enthusiasts, the lack of dining options and the subpar cleanliness and atmosphere may leave some travelers wanting more from their stay."
"They listened to all my requests and the location of the accommodation was really great😀
I was worried because it was clean and the accommodation was a bit cheap, but it was clean and nice😀"
"Good service, good location, in the residential area next to City Hall, quiet in the middle of the hustle and bustle. The kitchen is perfect (although the equipment is a little old), the bathroom is a bit small, but if you need to find a kitchen, you can choose"
"Very clean and comfortable. I will choose to stay here again next time I come to Ottawa. Stayed in May 2025. The room and service exceeded expectations for this price."

Great
CChenHotel location is great. Lots of restaurants nearby, it’s only 10mins to City Hall, 20 mins to Parliament Hill. Hotel staff is very professional and efficient in their response. I like the goodies bag, with bottled water, energy bar, biscuits, they prepared for their guests so we can take those with us for consumption as we explored the city.
CChuleaiwanhaishiaiwanThe location and environment are impeccable, and I have to say a few more words about the food and service. Since we arrived after 9pm, the French meal that ended at 10pm was not suitable, so the waiter introduced us to the international fusion cuisine opposite. The taste was good and met our expectations, but the variety was a little less. Diago at the front desk is what I want to introduce today. We are a family of three traveling, and I booked a room in my husband's name and my own name. That Diago actually asked a strange question, ”Are you three staying in one room?” I just thought he was not proficient in business and didn't care. Then he said that the single room I booked was queen size and he helped me upgrade it to king size. He also said that the double room I booked was also a queen size bed. I showed him the order, ”1.81 meters big bed”, he still insisted that it was a queen size. My husband also said that other people's king size might be 2.00 meters. I asked if he could also help me upgrade to king size, and he readily agreed. We thanked him. Walking into the room, the small window saw other people's roofs and a road. Where is my view? I went downstairs to argue with Diago. The 1.81-meter bed I booked is already a king size, but you didn’t upgrade it for me. I booked a room with a view, so what about the view? Diago said that 1.81 meters refers to the length of the bed. I asked him in return if the 1.51-meter and 1.31-meter beds provided by the hotel also refer to the length? Until then, I still thought he was not proficient in his business. Diago was speechless and said that I would go and ask. When he came back, he argued that the room I gave you was bigger, but what I wanted was the view! I said that the view was my first consideration and the room size ranked second. Diago hesitated for a long time before saying that there was no room with a view tonight, ”What?!” At this time, I firmly believed that his previous series of actions were intentional! As compensation, Diago gave me a simple breakfast for two people in the fourth-floor lounge for free the next day. To be honest, the breakfast was really average.
BBig StomachThis trip is the most satisfied with this hotel! Really great! The hotel is located in Kanata, a technology industrial district west of Ottawa, and there are many IT industry travelers. The hotel is very new, and the South Asian sister at the front desk is very professional. When you check in, you will introduce the precautions and free facilities of the hotel in detail. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast is very rich, scrambled eggs and sausages are delicious. (The hotel didn’t take pictures, let’s post the scenery of Ottawa)
LLivyC75We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here - the room was spacious as we were upgraded to a preferred corner room for free. The hotel had a WiFi issue when we checked in but the receptionist Todd was extremely helpful and gave us recommendations for food nearby while we waited to be able to check in. The location itself is central and close to the market, but there are quite a few individuals struggling with mental health, homelessness, and addiction issues who tend to linger in the area. The security for the hotel however is great. The gym is brand new with a great view and there is a hotel pool and sauna as well as laundry facilities. The hotel staff were always extremely helpful and accommodating, and went above and beyond to make us comfortable during the stay with small touches such as extra water. We would recommend staying here again based on the comfort of the room, the view, and also the incredible and friendly service.
GGuest UserWe stayed one night right in the heart of the Byword Market in Ottawa and really loved it. My only complaint is the cost of parking- $35/night. A little steep. But it seems parking in Ottawa is costly. Other than that, I really enjoyed how great the room was. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
AAlicia York-BirdI expected more from Glö than I received. I chose Glö as a ”treat” for a couple's getaway, as it was a newer hotel and appeared like it would be snazzier than the usual fare.
Pros: The bathroom was very nice, and the complimentary toiletries are top notch. The rooms are very clean. The mattress was very comfortable and the TV was a decent size.
Cons: The rooms are incredibly small, and while they are nicely furnished, the tiny ”couch” seat was more form than function (i.e. prettier than it was comfortable). The front desk staff seemed very new and clueless on basic hospitality essentials, like how to work the in-room television. It also took ages for a response from front desk on how to work the TV and the issue wasn't even resolved.
I probably will not stay here again nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone I know, as there are so many hotels to choose from in Kanata that offer better, more knowledgeable service and better pricing.
YYangkind of a good location, a shopping mall nearby, you can walk like 10 mins to take subway or bus there. 10 mins driving from parliament hill
breakfast is tasty, you'll get lots of options: bagels, sausages, waffles that you make by yourself.
EErikThe service was great, efficient and friendly. The room and hotel were clean. The only downside is the load noise overnight. We could clearly hear the music and noise coming from the street. Our room was located near the elevator and quite noisy. It was easy to hear peole talking. The room could be a little more soundproof.
RroiberadorThe location is perfect! not so far from ottawa via rail station and also not far from the ordinary train station. It is also in downtown so it is very easy to go to famous attractions. The service is very good! The staff is very kind and helpful. The place is very clean and the room is also clean. I am not sure if there is a 1 bed room. I feel like I am wasting 1 bed when I am on a 2 bed room. Anyway, I am used to having a kettle for hot water, coffee or tea in my room when I travel but they do not have that one. They do not have tea or coffee in the room. Also they don't have those slippers that you can walk around. They also do not have free water like in most motels/hotels. I had 2 breakfasts. They do not have an area where you can eat breakfast so you just need to get your breakfast from the office and eat in your room. In general, I just needed a place to stay for the night and it was very good! I still would recommend to those who wants to travel in Ottawa! Thank you Econo Lodge!
