The Reef Coco Beach Resort & Spa- Optional All Inclusive

The hotel is an older hotel. The location is great for access to the beach and walk around 5th Ave. The bartenders and the travel shop/scuba shop were great the hotel maintenance and front desk staff were not the best. We did have issues with our rooms and they were fixed eventually except the king room that we booked was not available and we had to share a double bed. Iit’s an older hotel with musty smells and stuck drawers. The pool closed early on a Saturday night (8pm) but the mariachi/karaoke can play until 11pm and the noise will carry into the room. The kelp on the beach is filled with sand fleas and we came home with over 100 sand flea bites between the 5 of us. The buffet was ok but not worth $45 per day per person.
Punta Esmeralda

Whilst the hotel is not on the beach like the typical all-included and the neighborhood can give a change of scene to some, I completely loved my experience at Capital O Hotel Punta Esmeralda. The staff was very friendly, especially the man who I believed to be the owner. When I asked him where I could get bottled water, he showed me the store across the street and offered to come with me. The room was very clean and the pool on the rooftop was great too!
Grand Fifty Suites

We have been travelling since 1996 several times a year and stay in condos/apartments and have never experienced a situation like this or a host who is manipulative and deceitful.      We initially booked for 3 months but left the unit after one month (only because the full month was paid in advance). The unit we received was not what was promised.  We were mislead and decieved. I specifically asked for a ONE BEDROOM, not a studio.  I wake up early and my take afternoon naps, my husband does not. I was promised a fully equipped kitchen;  it was not fully equipped; it has one pot, one frying pan, barely any cooking utensils etc.; no oven…  I had to spend $400 on a toaster oven, cooking utensils, strainer, dish towels, small pot etc.  I was promised a Sofa in the small living area. We had one very uncomfortable chair. I asked for a sofa on 3 seperate occasions.  When we moved out at the end of the month, there still was no sofa. I was promised an outdoor grill; David finally put one in the roof top terrace two weeks after we moved in.  However, it is an old used one, that has no handle and no utensils to use to open it or cook with, no oven mittens, nada.  Completely useless.   We were told there is no construction.  There is a building under construction directly across the street, not really a big deal for us but thought I would share. I brought these concerns up with David.  A couple of days later, when we discussed them again with David, his response was “I wish you could just be”.  In addition, to the above, The shower is cold and has zero water pressure that I couldn't even get sand off me without scrubbing; The fridge is broken, it froze my fruits and vegetables; My husband had to kill a massive cockroach right on the kitchen counter, GROSS!!! We are not complainers, far from.  In fact this is the first negative review I've ever felt the need to write. I hate to be in this situation.  In fact, we wouldn’t complain and just bite the bullet if we were only staying a week.  The apartment simply isn’t suitable for long term rentals.  And I really don't appreciate being deceived. When we discussed the situation with the host  David, we told him that we wanted to stay the full month and would be leaving on February 3rd.  David asked if it was possible for us to leave on February 1st to allow him the opportunity to “rent it for the full month of February”.  We agreed to help him out.   David specifically said that we wouldn’t be charged any further amount and that in fact, we would likely receive a small refund.   Then he altered our reservation from monthly to daily, and wanted to charge us another $700! The nerve and more deceiving.     We refused to pay!  I NEVER would have booked this unit for 3 months, had David been honest before booking.  I am appalled by the entire circumstance and really wish that people could be honest!

I’m not sure why the low review on this hotel. I actually slept better here as compared to the resort I’m at Grand Riviera Princess. I took my parents here for a night to shop at their popular 5th St (which is so freaking expensive- more expensive than the resort merchandise). I booked online and the system suggested the Master Suite since there’s 3 of us. To my surprise…. MASTER SUITE is literally 3 rooms!!!! I actually went downstairs to ask if they made a mistake. I only paid a total of $103!!!!! They gave us Room 210 - which includes 211 and 212!!!!? 210- 2 queen beds 211 - sofa bed with dining table (think of it like a living room) 212- 2 queen beds It was so clean and the bed sheets, pillows and blankets are all oh so comfortable. Since we only stayed for a night- I couldn’t comment on other amenities except it’s the best sleep I’ve ever had since landing in Mexico.

-when you advertise parking in the facilities means you have a proper parking. What they had was a street parking and unless you find that single spot outside the hotel, which it’s covered by the camera, then your car isn’t safe. -The location was not walking distance to downtown with shops and restaurants so unless you have a car be prepared to walk 3-4kms. -On the check in we were asked to give our credit card details in case of any damage. Although states that you need a Credit Card, there was no guarantee of not charging you anything later as it was nowhere written in a paper or anything. You just have to give your card number and details. -On first afternoon I explained to the lady that our room is extremely noisy and we need to rest as recovering from illness and she just waived her head with irony and no solution. Eventually we were offered another room, on the same floor, so same noise, for 500MX extra. Her attitude was unacceptable. -The bed in our room was broken. It was leaning on the side and made it very uncomfortable to sleep or even sit down. -On booking I received 8 emails!!! And 2 WhatsApp messages stating to reply to the message in case we need something. When I messaged them saying we have not been able to sleep till 1am due to noise and we were waking up at 5:3am, nobody reply, nor even bothered to open the messages. -the neighbour feels very unsafe and dodgy.
