Holiday Inn Express Birmingham - Redditch

Redditch|0.25km from Vue Redditch
This wasn’t up to Holiday Inn Express standards. The main problem was the total lack of organisation and poor service at breakfast. We arrived at 08.00, and had to wait the best part of 10 minutes for any bread, and then the scrambled eggs ran out (as did the sausages – though we weren’t having any in any case), and another wait, probably of around 20 minutes, followed before they were replenished. The result was that we were at least half an hour late getting on the road for our onward journey. Sort of negates the ‘Express’ bit of one’s stay, doesn’t it? There were other breakfast issues, too, including, though not limited to, chilled fruit which was still frozen. There were only seven diners, so crowds of people can’t be used as an excuse for sub-standard service. Cleaning of the tables was cursory, with crumbs wiped onto the floor rather than removed. We immediately flagged all of this up with the receptionist on duty, who was duly apologetic, promising to investigate. We had dinner the previous evening. It was just about ok, but over-priced for what we had. Just under £30 for two salads and Pepsi? Someone’s having a laugh. Oh – and the dining room wasn’t clean; one of the chairs at our table was full of crumbs. In terms of facilities, sleep quality, cleanliness, parking, and value, the hotel delivered as is usual for Holiday Inn Express. But even so, some aspects of housekeeping were lacking. The hospitality tray hadn’t been replenished (though Reception rectified this immediately), there were three bath towels, but only one hand towel, and no spare loo roll. Come on, Redditch Holiday Inn Express. You can do better than this.

The Abbey is a very lovely hotel, set in beautiful surroundings. It’s clean and inviting. The bedrooms are spacious and I have to say the bed is the most comfortable that I’ve slept in at a hotel and believe me I’ve stayed at numerous hotels across the world. The staff are welcoming, polite and professional. They’re very accommodating. I would definitely stay there again.

From start to finish this place was fantastic! Food, service, decor were brilliant! A hidden gem for sure!! The rooms have very recently been refurbished - spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Dinner in the restaurant was excellent. Staff were friendly and took care of everything. Good breakfast selection. The setting is absolutely amazing. Sipping a drink in the sunshine looking over the grounds and then being able to take a walk into the woodland was amazing.
De Regency Style Hotel

We stayed here is my wife’s parents are now in an old folks home very near to the hotel. We stayed in one of the double rooms, which is true to the photos you see on this site. The room and bathroom are both done out very well and this place is great for a stay of a few nights. The bed is comfortable, although quite a high to get into, double wardrobe with hanging space and plenty of tea and coffee with the kettle etc. A major selling point is Ali, who is a family member of the hotel owners. He could not have been more helpful. Unfortunately, I have to use a walking stick and Ali would not hear of us carrying our cases up or down the stairs, even coming out to the car park to collect things for us. As we live in Spain, we will be using this place every time we return to the UK to visit my wife’s parents.
