This time we booked a tatami room. The small courtyard has a unique cave. The entire Japanese-style single-family building with small bridges and flowing water is full of design. For someone who has been to Japan a lot, I think it is very perfect. Two The smart toilet in the bathroom is convenient for two families to stay. The butler service was also quite good. He helped us carry our luggage, gave us freshly ground coffee, and showed us several other house types. We felt that this was a rural paradise, quiet and comfortable, with fresh air. We will stay here again in the future. A little suggestion, there should be a shoehorn hanging where you put on and take off your shoes, so that the sense of detail will be full.

Excellent
GGuest UserHotel Mia is a nice stylish hotel that is moderately priced in a good neighborhood.  The staff did have limited English but with the help of a translator app they were always friendly and accommodating. We arrived at the hotel early and was able to check in right away which was a great plus.  I liked the style of the hotel but the design of the room sink was a bit lacking as it didn’t drain very well.  Also the plumbing had a slight unpleasant smell which is probably attributed to being in an old historical area.  The windows could also be better insulated as u can hear the street noise which might bother some guests.

GGuest UserExceptional service from the minute you step into the hotel lobby. Warm welcome and easy quick check in. Check out was simply dropping off the cards. Hotel is beautiful clean and modern. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Across the road via safe overpass is shopping centre with food galore, very cheap and professional hair salon, dentist, spa treatment. Just 5 mins walk is Yu Garden. Absolutely amazing!  Will stay here again. We would rate it as 5 star ⭐️ hotel.

TTugrnv.olVery nice hotel, we would like to come one day back. We had a big room, it was great for us after small rooms in Japan. However I noticed one minus - we had early check out and didn’t have time for a breakfast. They packed breakfast for us, but it was just bread, apple and yogurt. I still don’t understand for what we need three bread 🥖. Otherwise it was nice stay

GGuest Userthe view is so nice, clean and close to train station, Aunfu rd. and Wukang rd. close to big 7-11 and not far from lowson and family mart. The room so small not good to choose upper bed, lil bit too high and hard to go up and down anyway i don’t think it’s bad. i got the room close to WC and shower room lil bit annoying from water pump or something. i really hate the ground floor of the building. It's a steep staircase of about 10 steps. It's very difficult with big luggage. But the receptions are nice they can speak ENG and help anything i asked. i will back to stay there, if i go to shanghai again.

จารุวรรณDisappointing Experience at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai I stayed at The Ritz-Carlton Shanghai for two nights, and unfortunately, my experience was far from the luxury service I expected. 1. Discrimination at Flair Rooftop Restaurant On my first night, I visited Flair, the hotel's rooftop restaurant. Before going, I was told at the lobby that the restaurant operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with no reservations. However, when I arrived at around 5:50 PM, the restaurant was only 20% occupied, yet the host told me it was ”fully booked.” Then, the host questioned my intent, asking whether I was there for drinks or dinner. When I said ”dinner,” he suddenly mentioned a 1,600-yuan minimum spending requirement. I agreed without hesitation and ended up spending over 2,200 yuan. But what truly bothered me was the initial rejection and the selective enforcement of the minimum charge, implying that I was being judged based on my appearance or nationality. If the restaurant was truly full, why was I offered a table once I confirmed I would spend a significant amount? 2. Misleading Room Upgrade Offer & Hidden Promotions When I checked in, I had already booked a suite with a city view for around 4,000 yuan. However, the receptionist tried to upsell me a Pearl Tower view for an additional 3,300 yuan, which is an unreasonable price just for a different view. What’s worse is that she failed to inform me about an existing hotel promotion: (cant remember the amount exactly) If I pre-purchased 1,000 yuan, I could use 1,400 yuan at Flair rooftop restaurant. I only found out about this the next day and when I asked whether I could retroactively apply this promotion to my bill (which was charged to my room), I was told it was not possible because I had to buy the package in advance. Had I known about this offer beforehand, I would have gladly used it. Instead, the staff prioritized upselling me a more expensive view rather than informing me of real benefits available to hotel guests. 3. Concierge Service & Taxi Nightmare The service at the concierge was another major disappointment. I had a reservation at a Chinese restaurant across the river and asked the concierge to arrange a taxi for me. Knowing that taxis in Shanghai can be unreliable and tricky (as I had experienced the night before with an airport taxi taking me to three wrong hotels and turning off the meter), I was relieved when the concierge used Didi (a ride-hailing app) to book a ride. However, when the car arrived, the concierge instructed a bellboy to walk me to the car, but he never confirmed whether it was actually mine. Just as the door was closing, a woman with luggage rushed in, claiming it was her ride to the airport. It turned out the car was not for me but for an entirely different passenger! At this point, I was already late for my dinner reservation. When I walked back to the concierge to ask what happened, he seemed irritated and dismissively said, ”Don’t worry” before reluctantly walking me to the correct car. This lack of professionalism and carelessness was incredibly frustrating. If you’re arranging a ride for a guest, ensure they get into the correct car. Final Thoughts This all happened in just one night—I can't imagine what else could go wrong during my stay. I sincerely hope no other guests have to go through such an experience. The Ritz-Carlton brand is known for its luxury and top-tier hospitality, but what I encountered was discriminatory treatment, misleading sales tactics, and poor service coordination. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and improves their service, ensuring all guests receive fair and professional treatment, regardless of their appearance or nationality. Ps: nice swimming pool by the way!!

GGuest UserThe hotel has a great environment, and it feels like a quiet retreat in a busy city. As soon as you go out, you will see Binjiang Avenue, which is very comfortable for a walk. The transportation is quite convenient, and you can reach the subway station by bike or on foot. The surrounding takeaways are also quite developed, and robots can deliver meals directly to the door of the room.

Walking distance from the subway , Shanghai railway station and most land marks. It’s in the center of the city or close to it. Many restaurants close by. GGuest UserSolo female traveller. Self-declaration of residence during your visit via a link the staff will share via WeChat. (For me, the submission under the Chinese UI only worked.) Free one-time clean-up of the room, no water provided so have to buy on your own. New towels and emptying of dustbins can be requested. Location is a 7-10 minute walk to Shanghai Natural History Museum Station and Nanjing West Road Station; 20 minute journey to Shanghai Railway Station via MRT if you are taking trips out of the city. On the way back from Nanjing West Station, there is a 7-Eleven at the station and a Family Mart nearby the station. There is also a mini-mart near the main entrance of the accommodation residential area. There are two lifts, but usually only one is operating, so I had to wait for the lift for sometime if I left the unit at 8.30-9am. If you are sensitive to dust, request for a deep clean of the room. There is quite a fair bit of dust under the bed. I visited the tail-end of spring where there were a few mozzies that came by, but there is an insect-repellent diffuser in the room. Washing machine is excellent, you may use the laundry detergent provided. Used it a couple of times, clothes are fine. Projector works well with MangoTV free subscription. It was nice to use it. You may also verify with staff on the address of the accommodation in Chinese, which you can use for Taobao and Dianping (if no local phone number) / *******. For ride hails via DiDi, pick up point is at the main entrance, the same direction to head to if you are going to Shanghai Natural History Museum Station. You’ll see a petrol kiosk outside the main entrance.

CClaireHotel was modern and clean. (Looks new and quite Western!) Amenities are well equipped, they even provided a charging cable. Perfect layout for me travelling with elderly parents. Location is conmvenient, walking distance to North Bund and The Bund 外滩。 Staff were helpful and friendly with recommending food places nearby. It's located on a main street but there are actually a number of small local eateries in the small streets nearby. Will stay again next time I come to Shanghai!!!
