Great experience at the Middle house! Tasteful design with clean, spacious rooms and awesome maxi bar! Beers milk water coconut juice sweets are all free! (Wine and champagne are not though). Staff are nice and accommodating with high attention to detail. Remember to check out the inconspicuous Bluetooth speaker under the TV and also the swimming pool area as well!

A clean hotel with very generous space in the room—I was upgraded for free which was a nice touch. The Rosemary toiletries, huge shower and tub, Nespresso machine, and free mini bar were all appreciated. The view (I was on the 9th floor) wasn’t the best but overall the room was excellent. I would definitely stay there again!

Other reviewers have written that this is an “opera” inspired hotel but anyone with a background in Shakespeare will see through that. Each room is named with a word from a verse of a Shakespeare play instead of numbered. Rooms have Chinese editions of Shakespeare’s plays and a sort of “newsletter” explaining the connection between the Bard and the hotel. The bar has A Hamlet quote depicted in fluorescent lights. Michael Fassbender’s “Macbeth” plays on a big screen in the lobby. It’s clear someone here really likes Shakespeare. As to the hotel itself, it is recessed from the street making it somewhat hard for taxi drivers to find but ensures a quiet nights sleep in a lively part of the city. You’re a short walking distance to places like Tock’s and Taco Bell and just a little further distance for the Starbucks Roastery. This is an even better location if you need to visit the US Consular Office for passport related issues and the like as it’s only a few minutes walk away in the Isetan building. Leave your bag and computer here to minimize the security rigamarole of the visit there. Only negative potentially is that my room was pretty dim even with lights on, but that was a minor point, at least to me. Probably not an ideal location if you’re a first time Shanghai tourist looking to spend most of your time strolling the Bund and darting back and forth to Pudong— about a 20 minute taxi ride away. But if you’ve done the Bund and you’re in Shanghai for other reasons, great location. Staff are friendly and helpful. Would certainly stay again.

A lovely hotel, well located within walking distance of Jingan Temple and several good eateries. Staff are friendly and welcoming, nothing is too much trouble! Rooms are a nice size with plenty of amenities, and I had a lovely view of the Bund. Breakfast offers plenty of options for all dietary requirements.

After coming back from a long day it was a good surprise that they gifted me mousepad after seeing I had a laptop for work. Zhang Yuan is literally right beside the hotel. Sits adjacent of the Metro Line 2 station beside Uniqlo so really convenient. It’s not 5 star but for me location matters. Friendly staff and always willing to help and offer advice on where to go and how to navigate digital China if you haven’t been here in while.

When you arrive at the front desk, you will be given a cup of honey water or ginger tea. The sense of detail is great~ Late night porridge is available every night from 9:30 to 11 p.m. Free porridge and snacks are provided. I will bring my parents here around the Chinese New Year, and I plan to book this place then. Really highly recommended

The hotel is In walking distance to the major shopping center and 15 minutes walk from the embassy. The star of this establishment is the service. The staff is kind and courteous. They also have a working robot which is always a plus. I would recommend to persons who want to explore this area and need an affordable place as well as those who come to do an interview at the embassy.

The staff at the reception cannot speak fluent English, but they are very helpful and positive. They do their best to answer your questions. Very nice working area on the ground floor for business purposes. Chic design looks quite good. Location is perfect as its in walking distance to the famous West Nanjing Road and its metro station. On the other direction, if you want to walk a bit more, you can also reach to Hanzhong Road metro station. Rooms are relatively small, so if you travel as a family, you'd better check the room photos before booking this hotel. Also, specifically room 714, had dampness smell in the bathroom. I hope the management can find a way to fix it. I recommend this hotel to especially business and solo travelers.

This is a really comfortable apartment in a great location. Transportation to everywhere is made really easy with the West Nanjing Rd subway just across the street. There are 24h convenient stores and a large western supermarket nearby for grocery shopping. The inside is spacious and has a decent kitchen and a convenient set up of a bathroom, large closets, and 2 large bedrooms with king beds. We were here for a work trip and stayed for about a week and the amenities are complete to serve the apartment as a home away from home. The host is very responsive and accommodating and she also provides clear instructions for check-in/out and for the usage of all the equipment in the apartment. Thank you, Faye. Highly recommend and will come back again in winter to try out the floor heating!

The location is very central. It’s connected to many important sites: Starbucks reserve, Shanghai natural history museum and two metro lines. It was convenient point to travel from to explore Shanghai. There are also plenty of restaurants and shop. The rooms are beautiful and clean. It had many utensils for cooking and comfort. It also had a projector to watch movies at the end if the day. The information from the management is very clear and they were available to help us with all their needs. They sent extra water, tissues and helped us book a taxi.

I didn’t feel very satisfied with the room I originally booked. I upgraded to a round bed room. The round bed room is still very beautiful and the environment feels good. The most important thing is that it is very, very close to the Museum of Nature, 200 meters away in a straight line. There is also a subway nearby. Station, you can go to the science and technology museum, but personally feel that there are not many breakfasts nearby

I have stayed at Youxi Movie Hotel at 242 Ju Lu Road, Shanghai, China about three and half weeks from 13th November to 5th December. I had a wonderful time there. It located at the central Shanghai and is close to many entertainment centres and tourist attractions and shopping centra. The staffs at Youxi Movie Hotel were very helpful and friendly and the service is excellent. It was very surprise to me that my room is very quiet at night and you can watch a film on the wall while you are in the bed. My room is quite big so once I had my friends came over to watch the movie and chatter. And this hotel is quite new and the my room is very clean too.

The building is very special, it’s obviously got character but well the inside is very dated, some of the fixtures are not very well detailed for example the shower has some screws coming off and well it’s an old building so it’s understandable, the breakfast was good so was the coffee but half of the staff was friendly and half was a bit careless. Since it was built more than 30 years ago, the glass is still single-layered, so the air conditioner cannot turn on the heat on cold days. What to do on a hot day? ?

I didn't see the owner during the whole process, but the communication was very pleasant, the check-in was smooth, warm and considerate, and I enjoyed the high-quality sleeping feeling of being quiet in the middle of the noise~👍🏻 The style is that every time I come to Shanghai, I stick to my favorite Shanghai style, clean and tasteful. The neighborhood is easy to find. It is next to Rongzhai. When you exit the gate, turn right and you will see Vacheron Constantin. Across the road is Versace. Go straight to the right and you will find Kaisling, Fengshengli, the subway station... All in all, it was a very 🈵️ pleasant stay experience. I will come to Shanghai to shop and eat again in the future, and I will stay at your place~❤️
