Shimabara Station Hotel Reviews

The hotel's location is not bad since it's only a 7 min walk from the train station. The room has all the basic items but it's kind of small for opening my suitcase on the floor. The one thing that really bothered me was the smell of mold in the room. I tried adjusting the temperature of the AC but that didn't help. I turned on what I believed to be an air purifier whenever I was in the room but that didn't help either. On the last night I switched the AC mode to Dry and it helped with the moldy smell, but since it got too cold, I had to change it back to normal AC mode. I didn't tell the staff since it was most likely due to the age of the hotel and probably nothing much could have been done.

Staff is very nice eventhough his English is not so good. However, we could communicate each other without the translator.

Was happy that hotel location has a good view of the Shimabara Castle. The room is quite big but it is run down with cracks on the vanity sink and toilet conditions need to be upgraded. The WC keeps flushing water continuously after use. In general the whole room needs to be upgrade. The one good thing about the room is the cleanliness. Parking is free but it's about 25 metres away and crossing traffic lights.

The hotel is not far from attractions such as Shimabara Castle and Shishizou. You can walk there, or you can rent a bicycle in the lobby and ride there. There is also a 24-hour free footbath nearby. There is a microwave on the floor, the room is fully equipped, and there is food wrap. City view rooms can see Shimabara Castle.

The room size is very small even in Japan, and the bathroom feels like it's on an airplane. The sound insulation is not good, you can hear snoring from other rooms. The room facilities are too old, the air conditioner is not in use, but it makes mechanical noise from time to time. I tried to cut off the power but it couldn't be cut off at all. Pulling out the room card didn't work, and I couldn't find the power cord. I struggled all night and it was crazy! !

I was fooled by the photos. The electrical outlets were exposed and some of the equipment was worn out, making it a sad room. The level of cleaning was also disappointing.

I was supposed to be able to see Shimabara Castle from my room, but it was a pity that I couldn't see it. It was nice to be able to walk to Shimabara Castle. The air conditioner was noisy at times. Welcome drink was nice.
