Spent 6 wonderful nights at the amazing Song Saa Private Island. We arrived by plane from Siem Reap to be met outside arrivals by the Song Saa team. A short ride to the port where we waited in the Song Saa private lounge before a very pleasant 40 minute speedboat journey to the island. On arrival we were met by Tommy, the hotel GM, and a dozen or so of the team (more than 150 staff in total to look after you in only 24 rooms) before we were taken to our over water villa (we booked the 2 bedroom and were upgraded to the Royal). The villa was amazing with gorgeous views across the gulf to the larger island of Koh Rong and a good sized plunge pool on the outside deck. Bedrooms were huge with comfortable living area as well as a large dining table and small kitchen. The island is small but perfectly sized with sandy pathways between 2 restaurants, spa, sports area, a small beach and lovely ocean side pool. Most days it was just the 3 of us and maybe one or two other families by the pool. My wife and daughter enjoyed the spa facilities a number of times and we did some off island snorkeling which was very enjoyable. As well as the standard dinner menu every evening there is a chef's special menu of 3 appetizers, 3 entrees and 2 desserts. The lovely thing about this is that the menu can be served anywhere. We enjoyed eating by the pool, on the beach and in both the restaurants on specially set up tables for us. Really wonderful. Lunch menu was removed during the Covid epidemic and we are assured it is about to be re-introduced but in any case the team will do whatever they can to accommodate you. I had a club sandwich and burrito neither of which are on any menu. Everything about Song Saa is focused on guest satisfaction. We are fortunate enough to stay in 5* hotels all over the world and the staff at Song Saa are truly amongst the best we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Every single staff member we interacted with from house keeping (excellent by the way) to restaurant staff could not have been more pleasant, attentive and charming. One small comment on billing. Like every other 5* hotel I have ever stayed in over 30 years the billing is the same. Whether its at the end of a dinner or a day by the pool there's just one bill to sign. We couldn't recommend Song Saa highly enough if you have the opportunity to visit and are looking for total relaxation.
