Portsmouth Budget Hotels - All Rooms Are EN-Suite

No extra bed, no breakfast, but the environment and location are pretty good
Somerset House Boutique Hotel and Restaurant

I booked this from other recommendations - and can agree its a really lovely hotel. I booked it to go and see my son who is Portsmouth Uni. It was his birthday, so I organised for us to have the Sunday and Sunday evening. Its part of a group of hotels in a small radius of each other. Parking was ok, as I managed to get a spot in their car park. Room was great - very spacious. Very clean and bed very comfortable. No noise at all from the road or other residents. We had a great evening at the local gastro pub (Florence Arms) - definitely go there. I needed to work on the Monday - and they allowed me to use the dining room at no expense... that is true customer service and that personal touch... well done! Highly recommended...

Excellent
G Boutique Hotel
4.2/5101 Reviews
I chose this hotel as I wanted a romantic getaway for my husband and me to celebrate 10 years of togetherness. This suited our needs perfectly, it's made for couples and this was prevalent in the breakfast room the following morning, bar one person eating on his own, all of us were couples. The hotel is gorgeous, well-maintained and glad to say, spotlessly clean. All rooms are labelled ”G for....” and each room had a adjective beginning with ”G”. Ours was at the top, ”G for...gushing”. The room was spotless, as was the bathroom. The decor was contemporary, bright and everything matched. The lounge area was ”Instagrammable”; tastefully furnished, with a couple of pod-like swing chairs suspended from the ceiling. I just had to take a couple of pictures. There was also a garden around the back which we didn't get the chance to enjoy. Breakfast the next morning was lovely: I love that there was a choice of the small full English breakfast, which I had, and the big full English breakfast, which my husband had. I wish more B&Bs adopted that idea. I don't eat as much as my husband and it was nice to enjoy the same food he did for a change, but on a smaller scale. The hotel is just across the road from Canoe Lake and you can cut through it to the beach, pier and restaurants. All in all it was an absolutely lovely stay and we would come back again, no hesitation.
Florence House Boutique Hotel and Restaurant

The word “quality” applies to the whole experience. We stayed in Room 2 in Somerset House. It was a lovely, large, tastefully decorated room and we were lucky enough to get an off road parking space next to it. The food was excellent, both the breakfast (I particularly liked the Avocado Smash), and Dinner, which we were lucky enough to be able to have outside in the garden. My only suggestion would be to make the offering easier to understand on the website. There are several different buildings/rooms to choose from, mostly called Florence something or other, and it took a long phone call with the excellent Ellie, to work out what was best for me. Without her friendly and knowledgable help I couldn’t have done that. The irony is that after I’d booked I received an email giving me lots of useful information, including a site map, that would have been very useful when booking.

Awesome place - I would defo recommend to stay here - very reasonable and everything was so easy from the booking right through to the end of our stay. Emma was brilliant with all the communication etc…always answered any queries very quickly - a unique experience as there is a communal kitchen which was very clean - complimentary tea coffee and cereals - fantastic- you get your own cupboard space which has your room number - there is a dishwasher and washing machines which is great if you are staying for a period of time - our room was big airy and very clean - very happy with the whole experience and would defo stay here again - position is also great for Southsea- 10 mins walk to the kings theatre - great pub on Southsea Common called Brewers and Kitchen
