5-Star Hotels in Sydney

We had a wonderful stay at Capella Sydney. Our sincere thanks to Rebecca Chan and Kelly Huang for thoughtfully arranging our rooms and making our family feel so warmly welcomed. We would also like to thank Monica Cisneros for the delicious macarons—they were a lovely and thoughtful surprise. We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and the hotel’s elegant interior, which beautifully combines classic heritage character with refined modern design. Every detail made the stay feel calm, comfortable, and special. Thank you to the entire team for such a memorable experience. Capella Sydney will definitely be our first choice whenever we have the opportunity to return to Sydney.

The room was clean and quiet. Upon check-in, the front desk gave us two complimentary drink vouchers. We redeemed them at the rooftop lounge before bed. Express check-out was a convenient option. The hotel is right next to the train station, which made getting around very easy. Note that disposable toiletries are not provided, so you'll need to bring your own toothbrush and toothpaste.

The location of the hotel is really good. It's super convenient to go everywhere in the city. The room is very well designed and quite cozy. All staff are really nice, polite, & helpful. The hotel's cafe is cute and the breakfast there is also quite good.  The only issue that we faced in this trip was our A/C was not working on our first night and again on our final night. However, the staff was very helpful and very quickly fixing it. So our overall experience was quite happy. 

The hotel's amenities are really subpar; it's nothing like a 4-star hotel. Sofitel properties in China are much better configured. I stayed at their hotels in Sydney and Gold Coast this trip, and I definitely won't be staying with this brand again. The bathroom sink was like something out of a hostel – small, single basin, and so low and shallow that when you wash your face or hands, water splashes all over your waist and stomach. We arrived quite late on the first day, and the air conditioning wasn't central, it was very noisy, and the fridge also made a lot of noise. Plus, we were at the end of a hallway. I contacted Ctrip customer service; we couldn't switch rooms on the second day, but they moved us on the third. However, in the new room, the toilet seat didn't have a soft-close mechanism, so it would either slam shut or just fall down. The towels were placed on a tiny shelf – I don't know if that's a deliberate design choice by the hotel? Anyway, it's hard to put into words… all the rooms are at the end of hallways. I absolutely will not stay at any Sofitel brand hotels again… This is my second time in Australia this year, and it's winter, the off-season. Hotel prices were higher than what I booked in February, and my experiences in Gold Coast and Sydney were disappointing… Cairns was even worse, essentially a hostel-level hotel by Chinese standards, with twin beds less than 1 meter wide each… When booking a hotel, it really has to be an international brand, but Sofitel is a chain, and the one in Sydney was truly bad…

The front desk staff were very welcoming and arranged for me to have the perfect room. The hotel's swimming pool is beautiful with a fantastic view. The staff were proactive in helping with luggage, and both check-in and check-out were quick.

My stay at the Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay during my Sydney trip far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is absolutely fantastic; it's just a few minutes' walk to Circular Quay, the Sydney Opera House, and the Harbour Bridge, making it incredibly convenient to get to The Rocks and the ferry terminal. Exploring the sights was effortless. I booked a harbor view room, and the floor-to-ceiling windows offered iconic Sydney Harbour views. The sunrise and evening bay scenery were absolutely stunning, creating a truly atmospheric experience. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a very peaceful rest. The front desk and concierge staff were patient and efficient; check-in was smooth, and they even provided thoughtful local tips. The hotel's gym and indoor pool were well-maintained, and the executive lounge offered a rich and refined selection of breakfast items, drinks, and snacks. Whether for a sightseeing vacation or a short business trip, this is a top-notch accommodation choice in downtown Sydney. I'll definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

I chose to stay here because I had an early morning flight the next day. I arrived at the hotel close to midnight, and the staff said I could pay $50 for early check-in. I felt $50 was a bit steep for just two extra hours, so I declined. There's a large supermarket and a food court about a 15-minute walk from the hotel, and the Thai food there was pretty good. The room was reasonably clean, but the facilities were old. The biggest issue was the lack of complimentary bottled water. A bottle of water that sells for $2 at the supermarket costs $5 in the room, which is really unacceptable for a hotel of this caliber. Also, you can walk to the hotel from T2 and T3 terminals in about 20 minutes, but it's further from T1 (international terminal), requiring a shuttle bus. The $12 per person fee is a bit expensive; if it were free, I think more people would choose to stay at this hotel.

This stay far exceeded my expectations. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around by taxi or public transport, and there are plenty of restaurants and shops nearby. The room was bright and sunny, spotlessly clean, and the bathroom was dry and odor-free. The bedding was fluffy and soft, ensuring a wonderfully peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff were gentle and polite, and check-in/check-out was very efficient. When I needed extra slippers or drinking water, they were quickly brought to my room. All the facilities were well-maintained, with stable hot water and smooth internet. It's perfect whether you're traveling solo or with company, offering great value for money. I'll definitely stay here again next time I'm in town.

I don’t usually go out of my way to give hotel reviews. Postive or negative. However I must for this hotel. I was recommended this hotel by someone I am having a meeting with in the area. It was shockingly expensive, but I figured it would be worth it due to location and it was recommended by my contact. I don’t always stay in 5star, but when staying in 5star, and super expensive, I absolutely expect 5star service. 1. Having being dropped off at the hotel there was zero bell boy to help with my luggage. I did all myself. After going inside the hotel I was asked if I would like help with my bags, but replied I already had them… again I already go it myself. 2. At every single hotel I stay in the world it’s common when you ask at reception, how is my room, do I have a good view or location they check and my change it a little for better location or room type if they have vacancies. I was replied to by the girl in reception in a somewhat arrogant manner, sir you have the standard room… with zero intent to look to see if there was better option. In countless years and counties I’ve never had this response. At lease some carding or trying, even if they were full but not just arrogant cold “you have standard”. 3. The sauna advertised is NOT free. It’s paid extra and you need to book. Why would a hotel advertise sauna when it’s an additional cost. In addition it closes at 7:30pm. In all my years I’ve never been to a hotel where it closes so early. How can one have meetings and get back to have a sauna in time. When I complained about this also I was met with coke arrogant smiles. 4. The last day on check out in morning there was no body at the front desk. Zero. Very strange. Never have I been in a hotel there was no body in reception. Even more so strange for such an expensive hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone. I would in fact go, and have done put my way to NOT recommend. Not even a 1 star. For the price this is ridiculously over priced. The arrive is a lousy 1 star budge hotel. In fact a 1 star would have friendlier and better authentic service. On one positive note. The gym is amazing. The gym is a 5star as it’s not a “hotel gym” but a membership gym part of hotel. My overall rating therefore is a 2 star for the gym alone. Hotel for the price they charge and the well below average service zero!

We had a brilliant experience at the Langham for our wedding anniversary! I forgot how much I like the Langham brand. From the pink ribbon around the toilet paper to the sleep ammenities (we asked for the sleep pillow mist and the room diffuser) to the suggested third eye massage technique and the chamomile tea before bedtime, we felt totally pampered and taken care of. Reservation was made for our celebratory dinner with fine steak dinner over the fantastic view of the Opera House. In room breakfast was delivered on time and the quantity copious. The Spanish bell boy was helpful and friendly. We were also upgraded to a harbour view room to our delight. Location was convenient to walk either to Barangaroo or the Rocks, for ferry ride or metro. Very pleased to have chosen The Langham, it was absolutely the right decision for us!
