Holiday Inn Express & Suites Suffolk

I was pleasantly surprised. The hotel was renovated....looks great. My only suggestion is to regularly inspect the showers for recaulking seams and corners. The room was clean and the linen was soft and smelled fresh. The hotel is maintaining COVID precautions - remote controls covered in plastic, coffee cups individually wrapped, sanitizer stations throughout the facility. The front desk gentleman was very pleasant and professional. Breakfast was standard fare. The breakfast hostess was friendly. She constantly cleaned the dining and serving area, and made sure that the food was plentiful. We enjoyed our overnight stay and will be back.

While this is a lovely hotel the only breakfast you can get is a pricey buffet. McD's is. across the street. There is free coffee. No daily room maintenance under a 5 night stay. Must call for trash removal, towels, etc. Had to wait an hr. to check in. on a late aft. arrival. Parking is a bit of a hike too. Cant beat the location though, across from visitor center.

My wife and I stayed here before a few years back and our impression from our last stay was enough to make us book again. We were kind of disappointed this time around. The location is excellent …right next door to TASTE Cafe and DECENT PEOPLE Bar, and its within a few minutes drive to other local restaurants/ stores. Its easily accessible from main roads and highways. Abundant parking and the area felt safe. The front desk staff were friendly, but we found they tended to hang in the back office and only came out if you stood at the desk for a few minutes. They have a small breakfast set up that you can choose to pay for. We didnt eat there so cant speak to what was available. The room was where the place gets down-scored. It shows its wear and there is nothing particularly special about the room itself. We found the bed comfortable enough but the sheets seemed worn and scratchy, and there was a large noticeable hole in the top sheet. The furniture (nightstands, dresser, chair and footstool) also showed wear. The curtain had multiple holes in it. The bathroom had peeling paint on the door frame. The bathroom lighting fixtures were probably the worst aspect…both were rusted, one of them had a bulb out, and the other was hanging out from the wall. In general, the quality of the room was not what we typically associate with this brand or price point. It was more akin to a Comfort Inn or Red Roof Inn room. While we are unlikely to stay here again, you could do much worse. But …you could also probably do better.
