I called the day before to request early check-in . Willing to pay extra ofcourse . The man who handles the call said : they will try their best and can check in by 12.30 when the rooms are ready : Upon arrival the lady at the reception desk said sorry your room is not ready . She didn’t say hello , welcome , she did not ask our name or booking information, she didn’t not check anything.How does she know our room isn’t ready if she hasn’t checked the system or asked our names or see our passport. The location and the hotel is at a very very great location. Direct access to the beach . It is a prime spot for foreigners and tourists. But they greatly lack in service and maintenance. Rooms- are stained , mouldy , linen stained and worn out but all things cleaned and the person cleans every day and replenished the used items and gave us new towels . One day we needed to wait for new towels because they had run out . The furniture and carpet needs updating or maintenance. The pool area - they give you towels but you can hardly sit around. It’s full of dirt and ants . They don’t get the staff to wipe down chairs at all , there’s ants crawling everywhere . Chair and benches broken and although direct access to the beach they have a few seats here and there scattered. But you can visibly see the staff of the hotel sat around and inactive . The room - very mouldy, a lot of sounds from electricals at night , black stains and mould all over shower curtain and ceiling , stained carpets , stained sheets and towels . Dusty and dirty outside tables The general surrounding- there’s convenience store , mind you it’s a 4 star hotel but doesn’t come with toothpaste or toothbrush. So we got our own . The LL - lower level has all their broken unused items visible to the customers in the parking lot . Old fridges etc just piled on . There’s a good location can find 3 restaurants across the street and family mart The in-house restaurant offers meals but besides the morning meals included in the package people hardly eat there as the quality of food is not great . There are simple things that they do not take pride in - food was often too oily or burned like the samosas . They don’t take pride in what they do or offer . The general ambience of the hotel was not great although it is such a great hotel prime location and has a lot to offer but a poor experience due to neglect and lack of good service . You find men walking around with their books to look at the problems but no fixing gets done . They didn’t greet or help . The entrance is dull and unappealing. The staff just seem like they do not care about offering 4 star service . There was a beach restaurant and bar which provided good food and entertainment.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hompton Hotel by the Beach for our holiday, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish. my POV , the room i stay was so great with seaview, and facilities in the hotel was good. the view is so nice, the pool and others in the room was good. but there are several comment need to take note for all, 1. no air condition in the lift 2. If you take booking room included breakfast, please take note that, they will take so much time to topup the buffet food. during my stay, it looks like only have 3 workers , 1 in kitchen, 1 collect the plate and cup, 1 at the counter check in breakfast.

This is by far my most favourite hotel in Penang Island.. Been here for 4-5 times already & still can’t get enough. Even its a bit far away from city centre, we still enjoy the privacy & tranquility this hotel offers. Only 4km from Batu Feringghi. Rooms are super clean, amenities are good, love the smell of the rooms once arrived. Smells like in a spa! Great for honeymoon for sure & family with kids bcos they have kids club & kids pool with water slide! Breakfast spread is good, beach is good, the ambience is priceless. Parking is complimentary. Will definitely come again!

Good and nice hotel. Very spacious and comfortable. Although it is short of manpower, you can see they are still doing their best to serve customers. Children love this hotel very much because it's easy to go to the beach, and they also have a private playground water pool. Overall, it's good. It's worth booking this hotel, especially when Trip.com is having a promotion.

We had an absolutely amazing time at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, the room was spotlessly clean, and the views were breathtaking. WE BOOKED 3 DAYS STAY AT THIS BALINESE THEME RESORT. THE RESORT IS NICE BUT IT SERIOUSLY NEEDS TO BE MAINTAINED WELL SINCE THE FURNITURE AND BUILDING ARE DETERIORATING. MOST OF THE STAFFS ARE NON LOCAL. WHAT ANNOYED ME THE MOST IS THAT WE WENT TO BIRU BIRU (A CAFE IN THE RESORT BUT OPENS TO PUBLIC) FOR DINNER AND EVERY TIME WE WALKED FROM OR TO OUR ROOM, WE WERE FREQUENTLY TOLD BY THE NON MALAYSIAN WORKERS NOT TO WANDER FAR THINKING THAT WE WERE THE PATRONS OF THE CAFE. WE DECIDED TO UPGRADE OUR ROOM AND SINCE IT WAS THE WEEKDAYS, PARKING IS NOT A PROBLEM. OUR PROBLEM IS THE STEEP DOWNHILL ROAD FROM THE ENTRANCE TO THE ROOM, JUST ONE LANE ROAD AND EVERY TIME A CAR COMING FROM THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION, WE HAVE TO REVERSE OUR BIG CAR WHICH IS A HEADACHE. ADVISABLE TO COME HERE WITH A SMALLER CAR TO NAVIGATE THE STEEP AND SMALL ROAD. WE WERE TOLD THAT THEY HAVE 2 SWIMMING POOLS BUT THE INFINITY POOL WAS CLOSED AND LOOKED ABANDONED WHEN WE ARRIVED AND WE WERE LEFT WITH THE SWIMMING POOL NEAR THE BIRU-BIRU WHICH WAS LACK OF PRIVACY SO WE ENDED UP NOT SWIMMING IN THE POOL. THE JETTY WAS NICE WHERE WE COULD SIT AND UNWIND WATCHING THE BOATS PASSING BY. THE UPGRADED ROOM WAS BIG WITH FOLDED TOWELS IN BED WAITING FOR US. AIR CONDITIONER WAS WORKING WELL. WIFI WAS GOOD IN THE ROOM BUT UNFORTUNATELY, ON OUR SECOND DAY THERE WAS NO WIFI SO I HAD TO RUSH AND DRIVE OUT TO GET COVERAGE TO ATTEND TO MY ZOOM MEETING. THE RESORT HAS BEAUTIFUL BALINESE DOORS, STATUTES AND DECORATIVE ITEMS. WE FELL IN LOVE WITH THE WELL KEPT ORCHIDS AND FLOWERS THROUGHOUT THE RESORT. IT IS INDEED A NICE RESORT FOR INSTRAGRAM OR PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS.

The location of the resort is convenient, near the main road and the beach. The rooms are large and comfortable. Spacious living and dining area . But maintenance and tidiness of the resort needs to improve. The aircond at the twin bedroom is leaking water when in use. Looking at the ceiling mark, it appears that the water leak has not been properly fixed. Also, there is no soap tray in the bathroom. Potted plants are not taken care properly. Rubbish are dumped in front of the hotel. The surrounding area is quite untidy. We don't see any supervising manager around. The management office is closed most of the time. Looks like only the front desk and some maintenance staff are operating the resort.

Our family are really enjoyed at Doubletree, their hospitality is amazing and the amenities are all Crabtree brand, good product! Not forget to mentioned their heartfelt warm cookies upon check in! The only things to nag was the beach is way too far for the elderly! Thanks for the free upgrade and the birthday free decoration with cake, my mother in law was happy !
