I was here for 2 nights for business. I was not a fan of no bath in the room, but tried to make the best of it. Several issues really stand out: 1) I did not get good sleep because the building is just loud! With no hall carpets and really high ceilings, you can hear people talking plainly in rooms across the hall. Late night discussions in the hall reverberate. I was woken up multiple times after 11pm because the room above me had creaky floors and people were walking around. 2) Perhaps the following issues are result of the staffing crunch but it definitely lessened the experience. Paper towels out in the bathrooms near meeting rooms. Sinks clogged in the communal baths near my room (really gross). They ran out of key cards when I checked in - they were walking people to their rooms so you could put your stuff in, but then you couldn't get back in if you left. Or get into the bathroom. 3) Initial setup for for my company's business meeting had us literally touching elbows for a 2 day mtg. Midday, the facilitators got another table so that we could all feel a little bit more human and and be able to pay attention to the meeting. If you are excited about the experience of staying at a historical property, this is a great place because of the music venues, the various eating venues, and just the sense of fun that is intended at this place. But for a business meeting, it's not good. I am going to my 2nd day of meetings with only 5 hours of sleep.

Holiday Inn Express Portland East - Troutdale
3.9/5101 Reviews
This property is old, dated, dingy and the beds are absolutely terrible. I typically stay in similar category properties like Holiday Inn Express, Hyatt Place, Hampton Inn, etc. and can say that, without a doubt, the bed at this property was the worst bed I have ever slept in and I wouldn't be surprised if the mattresses are very old. The area itself is really questionable and I got sketchy vibes from the parking lot both in the front (where there was what looked like a broken down RV out front) and the back lot. The only redeeming values were the ladies at the front desk were very nice and helpful at check-in and the overall cleanliness seemed good and on par with most budget properties so props to the employees. The bed was brutal though and I expect better from IHG.

Motel 6 Troutdale, or - Portland East
3.2/5106 Reviews
This is a very nice place. We stayed in room 252 and it was very clean. The room had what we needed and the price was right. Bed was comfortable, flat screen tv. Great, modern looking bathroom that was stocked nicely. This is a pet friendly motel and at this price, Wow!!! There is an outdoor pool which was nice and clean. Staff was super friendly and helpful. So if your a searcher wanting to have a nice clean room that you can bring your four legged friends you found it. By the way we are NONsmokers and this room was perfect...... NO smoke smell ... So for those that complained about the smell. Get in or closer to your room. They have (no smoking with in 10 feet of building) signs in place. Hope this helps, and enjoy, we sure did.
