This is a great hotel, and most importantly, it's right across from the airport, perfect for a layover. We happened to arrive during the rain, and the hotel was very accommodating, arranging both airport pick-up and drop-off. If you were to walk, it's not far at all, about ten minutes. However, if you have a lot of luggage, walking might be a bit inconvenient. The hotel's hygiene is good, and the breakfast is also quite nice (the Yuncheng Braised Chicken was delicious). If you have an early flight, you can eat ten minutes earlier and still make it on time. Note: Due to the rain, I didn't get any photos showing the hotel's proximity to the airport.

Overall, the service was quite good. There was a minor issue with the water temperature dropping, but the hotel's recovery measures were effective. They promptly upgraded our room and the service generally kept up, so I'd give it a good rating. The hotel looks stunning at night when it's lit up, and there are many diners, so parking spots are usually full. It's super close to Wuyi Square, and a stroll in the evening felt really nice. Hotel guests also get free access to the adjacent Chunyang Palace, which is a nice bonus. Though not large, it's quite distinctive and worth a 30-minute visit.

Fantastic lodging. Best value I have had in dozens of stays. Clean, classy and large room with huge window to the main streets. Nice little hip cafe in the same hallway on the same floor. Nice bathroom, great bed. The location is also fine, even though it is a kilometer or so to the city walls. The naming Old town guesthouse isn’t much correct, but it doesn’t matter for the overall impression of this hotel.

Location: near LinFenXi High Speed Rail Station 临汾西站(10mins drive/ 20mins by local public transport to LuoGuQiaoTou 锣鼓桥头站). Best is that they provide pick-up and drop-off at HSR station, just make a call 3 hours in advance. I dont have local number, so I email them in advance before my trip, they replied my email and provide me their WeChat number so I can make reservation for the pick-up service at the station. Many local tours have pick-up and drop-off service near the hotel (junction outside the hotel), easy and convenient. Services: warm and welcoming services. Tea and drinks in the lobby, luggage storage as well. Room: clean big room, big screen TV, mini bar fridge, bathrobe and comfy king bed. Lavender shower shampoo, hand soap and body lotion, make me feel so so much relax. Laundry: laundry machine are free of charge (washer and dryer). Laundry room provide ironing equipment, books, drink as well. Definitely not get bored. Otherwise, can use phone connect their website to make a reminder while the laundry have done (so convenient). Gym Room: just opposite and same level of laundry room. Treadmill are so new. Breakfast: varieties of choice. Before that I already crave for coffee since it is not so common to find espresso in the local breakfast restaurant. Salad bar, local meatball soup, noodles, dumplings, wantons, boiled egg, fried egg, fried tomato with egg and local cooked food. So many choice and so satisfying. However they dont have egg omelette, it is fine for me. I found that even though not staying at LinFen city centre, it is still fine to stay here as the traffic here is convenient. And here is more quiet and more relax👍 The only thing I dont like is, some customer smoking in the lift and hotel lobby (even though there is a sign in the lift to advice not to smoke), definitely affecting those unlike smoking smell and sick of cigarette smell like me.

Overall good stay. Staff are polite and helpful. Clean, super big room with a swing and projector TV. Perhaps for my 2 young kids under 8. 2 big bed. Allow late check out on our last day, plus point. Washer and dryer just outside our room. Breakfast was excellant but have to walk 10 mins- in minus 3 degree 😆 Didi drop off is 200m walk away. Its ok. Room drain choke on 2nd day but they fix it fast (someone off the basement suction pump). Highly recommended.

The hotel I chose based on the plane was very nice, with a relatively large yard for walking. We stayed at the last hotel facing the runway, and the captain and stewardess of Shenzhen Airlines also stayed at this hotel. It was pretty good.

Staying at Yungang Jianguo Hotel in Datong this time was an absolute highlight and the smartest choice! **Location:** Situated on a bustling street close to the ancient city, it's just a 10-minute taxi ride away. From my room, I had a panoramic view of the ancient city, and the night view was stunning. Right across the street are the famous Beiwei Family Feast and Kaige Restaurant. If you walk a few minutes to the left, there's a street with all sorts of delicious food; Li Er Xianyu (fresh fish) and Xiao Tan Jia BBQ were particularly good. **Dining:** The breakfast was not just abundant, it was truly lavish! There was a vast array of Chinese and Western options, with an incredible variety of dishes and choices. The Chinese restaurant on the second floor had a great ambiance and excellent food. Portions were generous, and the knife-cut noodles were only 6 yuan a bowl, served with soup – perfect for southern palates and very authentic. Other dishes like roasted lamb chops, sour soup with sliced lamb, 'guoyou rou' (sautéed pork), and 'shaomai' (dumplings) were all delicious. The various green vegetables were incredibly sweet. **Service:** From the lobby to the guest rooms and the restaurant, the service was impeccable and very warm. Complimentary fruit and bottled water were provided daily. **Ambiance:** The hotel exterior is grand, and the lobby is opulent, decorated in a very festive style. The room was spacious, and the single bed was 1.35 meters wide, making for a very comfortable sleep. This was a truly perfect and satisfying stay. I genuinely recommend it to all fellow travelers!

Nice stay at Pipa oils Inn inside the Datong Ancient City. The hotel is clean and the staff are helpful, also to is convenient for our visit to Hanging Temple, wooden Pagoda and Yungang Grottoes as well. Datong Ancient City is a beautifully preserved walled town that reflects the rich history and charm of northern China. Once a strategic military stronghold during the Ming Dynasty, the city is surrounded by impressive stone walls and gate towers that give it a grand, historic feel. Inside, the streets are lined with traditional courtyards, ancient-style buildings, temples, and lively shops selling local snacks and souvenirs. Walking through the city feels like stepping back in time — you can admire the ancient architecture, try Datong’s famous noodles and pastries, and experience the relaxed pace of local life. In the evening, the city becomes especially magical, with the walls and streets lit up in warm lights, creating a romantic old-town atmosphere. Datong Ancient City is not just a historical site but also a living town, blending culture, food, and history — a perfect place to slow down and soak in the beauty of China’s northern heritage.

My stay at Yunzhong Chaoran Pavilion (Qiuguo Hotel) was extremely satisfying! 👍 This newly renovated hotel boasts impressive, grand solid wood furniture. It's spotlessly clean, and the staff are incredibly friendly, helpful, and attentive. The hotel offers its own underground parking (just turn right after Fuyuan Restaurant to enter the garage), which was incredibly convenient. It's about a 7-minute walk to the ancient city's commercial street, yet the hotel itself is wonderfully quiet and peaceful. The ambiance is beautifully characteristic of Shanxi, and the breakfast was incredibly rich and varied – I even took a few photos! I will definitely choose this place again on my next trip to Datong!

GGuest UserThis hotel combines the convenience of modern high tech with the spiritual beauty of traditional culture. The rooms themselves are constructed around courtyards that give a sense of what life might have been like in Datong many centuries ago. In the lobby and in the rooms, murals decorate the walls with elegant designs of birds or flowers. The cabinets, bench, and floors made of wood and the countertops made of marble work together well and draw on design choices that are classicly, universally appealing. At the same time, the entire room is wired with the amenties of modernity. The toilet has a seat warmer and a light that turns on when you lift the lid so that you can find it in the middle of the night. Similarly, there seem to be motion-sensitive lights throughout the room that light up when you walk in the middle of the night so that you can find your way around. The water in the shower and the bathtub is able to get very hot (which I love!) and has high pressure. There is also a top-of-the-line hair dryer. It's the perfect blend of high tech and traditional amenities! If I have one complaint it's that the room was so hot that I had to open my window to let in the freezing air, and still the room was hot! That shows how effective the heating system is! The serivce at the hotel is also extraordinary! All the members of hotel reception are very friendly. And they send someone to your room shortly after you settle in to give you a platter of fruit, which was fresh and seasonal and artistically chosen it seems. They also have 24 hours service in case you need anything. My friend went into the lobby early in the morning shouting about coffee, and the staff came out quickly to make him a cup. The hotel is also very clean. The blankets, the pillows, and the sheets are as white as snow. The floors are free of dust and dirt and smudges. Everything in the shower and toilet room was scrubbed clean too. And the shower drains smoothly without pooling any water, showing how well it is maintained. Finally, the location is very convenient. You can see that for yourself by just looking at the map. But I would like to add that just outside the gate of the hotel, you can see the Prince's palace, which is beautifully lit at night. What's more, my favorite restaurant in downtown Datong (I think the restaurant is translated as BeiWei Family Garden or something like that) is less than 5 minutes walking from the gate. There are also multiple shops for buying vinegar or wine or shaji snacks. In less than 10 minutes, you can also walk to all the major commercial streets. I love the location of this hotel!

GGuest UserThe location is superb, right within the ancient city. For those driving, parking is available at the Nine Dragon Wall parking lot, just a 100-meter walk away. Despite being in a tourist area, it offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle. Guandi Temple is also conveniently located nearby. The service was excellent, and breakfast was quite good too. Both the owner and the staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. Although the May Day holiday prices were significantly higher than usual, the convenience made it completely worthwhile. Highly recommended!

GGuest UserWe stayed at thos lovely hotel. Lovingly restored by the current owner Mr Wang. He is the 6th generation owner of the property. Until 10 years ago it was a derelict and dilapidated building. He poured money, time, blood, sweat and tears to restore it And it does feel and look like a traditional house. You feel you are going back in time. Firstly the customer service is way beyond the call of duty. Its so good, i would recommend staying with mr Wang at whatever hotel he runs. He picked us at the Lower East Gate, and brought us to the hotel, then took nearly half an hour to explain in great detail where we need to visit, whether the sights be in the city or outside the city. Some of his suggestions, not on the tour books were very good . For example he suggested 3 restaurants, and we avoided them thinking he was getting a kickback.on our 4th and last day we tried restaurant no 2 of his. And it was good , the food and service were good. The prices were average with other restaurants and we got a 10% discount being the hotel's guests. And remember we had eaten 10 meals by the time we came to his suggestions. Another suggestion of Mr Wang was Ma family home - also a very good tip from him. Everytime we had a request or question he always responded with enthusiasm. On our last day we checked out at 4am and he still took us to the pick up point at that ungodly hour. Yep Mr and Mrs Wang's customer service is just first class. The room was large, queen deluxe double, and the furnishings were traditional chinese furniture made of Rosewood. Very Expensive furniture for a hotel room. Shower worked well and was hot. However be aware its chinese style wet floor system ie there is no shower curtain between the shower and a small part of the bathroom does get wet if youare not careful. MR Wang said it will be one his improvement on his priority list. Hopefully by the time you booked the problem will have been resolved The hotel is very close to the main streets. About 5 min walk. The city of pingyao is worth visiting, it is one of the very walled cities left in China, with its old buildings intact and people still living it. All the city walls are also intact. Magnificent at night.

GGuest UserI was greeted with a fruit platter during check-in, which was a wonderful welcome gesture considering I left my home about 24 hours earlier, traveling non-stop from California to Datong, China. The Inn provides a wonderful experience for the first-time foreign visitor. The interior decor has that Chinese charm consisting of artwork, a book display, an aquarium with an auspicious collection of 8 large fishes (carp, I think), in-room tea set with an on-table electric stove, which would be unique to most Westerners. The glass flooring adds an extraordinary appeal since I have never experienced that in a hotel before, and I have traveled to dozens of countries. The Inn is well located, a short bus ride to Datong Railway Station (for non-high-speed rail travel)*, and a short taxi ride to Datong South Railway Station (for high-speed rail travel)**. It is just next to Datong City Wall. You can walk along the top of the City Wall at no cost. A 10-20 minute walk takes you to nearly all the attractions within the ancient City Wall. Here you will also find a variety of restaurants serving local food as well as souvenir shops. There is also a small shop that sells sundry items including drinks (beer included) within a 5-minute walk from the Inn. Across from this sundry shop, is a shop that specializes in ancient Chinese clothing (Hanfu dress). They can dress you up, cosmetics included. The Inn provides directions to Yujian Yun Gang - a popular destination for travelers to Datong. Here you will see ancient Buddhist cave art, including large and tall (several stories tall) sculptures. It takes two bus rides to get there, 1RMB per ride. My booking choice was for either a guest room on the 1st or 2nd floor but was assigned a wonderful 2nd-floor guest room. The owners of the Inn were exceptionally friendly. I met both the mother and her daughter. My room was professionally cleaned and provided with drinking bottled water daily. If I return to Datong in the future, I will certainly book a room at this Inn. *I took a train from this station to travel south to Xinzhou after checking out. **I arrived in Datong from Beijing Daxing International Airport

LLaiSpent a most enjoyable 5-day stay here. The owners are really nice -- they not only surprised us with a welcome fruit platter but also sent another one on another day. When we had to wake up super early on one of the days, they actually cooked 2 hard boil eggs for us to pack for breakfast (despite us saying no the night before as we didn't wish to trouble them). The husband also sent us via his car to a nearby pick-up point that we had to assemble at 5.40am. This is a very nicely done up place, well-maintained and very clean too. Good quality toiletries provided, comfortable bed, bathroom with a shower cubicle, water that is hot enough, even a toilet bowl. Great location -- there're rows of different types of shops nearby but it's still surprisingly quiet despite our room facing the road with a balcony, there're 2 cafes nearby, a nearby eatery that sells the most delicious 'shao bing' (crispy skin pastry with meat in it) - it's freshly made when one orders and a adjoining noodle stall that serves noodles that's quite OK too. It's just opposite the Hua Yan Si temple - one of the must-visit on the list of places in Datong. Hua Yan temple is also located in a huge square with more shops and food. From the front door of the homestay, turn right and walk all the way down abt 15-20mins, go through the ancient walls and then cross the road, you'll find Parkson mall there - a huge modern mall with all your usual F & B + shops that you'll find in these malls, supermarket, etc. The bus-stop to Yun Gang Grottoes is also nearby. A new landmark that makes it easy to locate this charming homestay : a new huge pink bunny with the Chinese characters of Datong on a green artificial grass patch, that is located just abt 200m away from its main entrance.

From contacting me early to provide taxi tips, to arranging luggage pick-up, and even offering a guide to touring the ancient city, every detail felt incredibly thoughtful. The hotel is located near the city gate, and the accommodation environment is quite good, rather elegant, nestled deep in an alley, making it very quiet.
