The hotel is housed in a beautifully preserved historic building. The room I stayed in was comfortable, clean, and pleasant. The inner courtyard, with seating areas and where breakfast is served, is charming and gives the impression of stepping back in time. The location is excellent as well, just a 5-minute walk from the most touristic part of the old town. Breakfast is Chinese style and, personally, I found it a bit weak, but that doesn’t take away from the charm of the hotel.

The environment is super good! ! It is within the ancient city, but not in the most prosperous commercial area, so it is very, very quiet! It's only a few minutes' walk to the commercial district, very convenient. The boss will pick up your luggage at the city wall, and breakfast will be delivered to your room at the agreed time. Most importantly, the yard is gorgeous. It’s a pity that we can’t hire a photographer to take pictures, so let’s just keep them in our memories!

A very pleasant stay at the Pipa Old Inn. A very historical building, though the place is equipped with all necessary modern amenities save for an elevator. Fortunately the staff very helpful assisted us with lugging up our heavy luggage to our room on the 3rd floor. Very beautifully decorated and strategically located in the heart of Datong Ancient City. Very pleasant and helpful staff who helped us plan and arrange our trips around Datong though sadly, they weren't very proficient in English (but that's common in China). Free breakfast was included in our stay and there was a decent spread though the menu didn't change much over our stay there save for one or two vegetable dishes being rotated. Overall definitely worth a return trip and stay in Datong Ancient City.

We booked this place near the west gate of pingyao ancient city. The hotel is in a historical building with beautiful decorations. The room was in the same style with typical kang bed. The room was very clean and the host left us a gift on arrival. All the staff talks English. Upon arrival Fanny shown us all the tours and the details on the city map and helped us book our tickets for the city attractions. We also enjoy playing Gomoku either her in the courtyard in the evening. Breakfast is typical Chinese but you can also have western breakfast with a little fee. Helen help us with the laundry and to find our way out of the city walls which was very nice! Warmly advice for a trip to Pingyao!

Excellent hotel, everything is perfect about this hotel. Excellent service from the reception and housekeeping staff. The room was excellent and extremely clean, very modern and big. Location-wise, it is excellent as it is only a 5-minute drive from Datong Railway Station. Breakfast was also amazing with a wide variety and high standard for a very reasonable price. Definitely will choose this hotel again if I am coming back to Datong.

The selection of B&Bs in Pingyao Ancient City is truly overwhelming. After repeated rounds of searching, I finally settled on Xingshengjiu. The experience exceeded my expectations, and I truly made the right choice. 📍Location: Convenient, tranquil amidst the bustle. Located in a quiet alley in the heart of the ancient city, it's a 10-minute walk from the bustling South Street. 💁♂️Service: Attentive, caring, and proactive 24-hour butler service. 1) Arrival: Immediately contacted via WeChat upon booking. Upon arrival, a sightseeing shuttle was picked up from the Guanbei parking lot outside the city, and the staff warmly greeted me. 2) Tours: Proactive suggestions and maps were provided during outings. Even sightseeing shuttles were arranged for trips outside the city. 3) Every time I encountered the hotel staff, they were enthusiastic and helpful. 4) Check-out: A shuttle was booked to the parking lot, and a small set of aged vinegar was given as a souvenir. 🛏️Rooms: Brand-new facilities, modern comfort 1) A two-story, two-courtyard, two-story courtyard house, designed in the style of the Ming and Qing dynasties. The tatami we booked was spacious and bright. The room was modern in design and amenities, including a tea table with Xiaodu automatic control. 2) The 4-meter king-size bed was high-quality and very comfortable. 3) The bathroom had separate wet and dry areas, a powerful shower 🚿, and thick, soft towels. The pink Lefen hairdryer was both stylish and powerful. 🍵Breakfast: Jin-style snacks and aged vinegar tasting Whether it's the small buffet on the first day or the nine-square set menu on the second day, you can savor local specialties. The bar also offers four flavors of aged vinegar: healthy Polygonatum odoratum vinegar and Ganoderma lucidum vinegar, as well as beauty-enhancing red date vinegar and mulberry vinegar. 💁♀️Value-added Services and Amenities 1) The Starbucks location is a unique feature, with guests receiving a complimentary Starbucks coffee and afternoon tea. 2) A laundry room is also available. Stayed for two nights and the overall experience was very good, five-star praise.

Just realized I forgot to leave a review, so I'm specially coming back to write one! My sister and I stayed here for two days in Datong after attending a wedding in Taiyuan. The courtyard is lovely, and it was so comfortable just relaxing there. They also provide complimentary bicycles, which we used to cycle to attractions like Yanhuasi, Shanhuasi, and the Nine-Dragon Wall, and to explore local eateries nearby. The service was exceptional. Our initial room unfortunately still had a slight renovation smell, even six months after the work was done, so they promptly moved us to a family suite. The front desk staff were very apologetic and even offered us a discount. Later, when I came down with a stomach bug, the owner personally brewed Puer tea for me, chatted, and genuinely checked in on my well-being. We later learned the guesthouse is run by the owner and their friends, which truly explains its wonderfully warm and welcoming atmosphere.

We booked 4 rooms this time, with 7 people in our group + 1 child. The rooms are very clean and each has its own character and name. There are tatami beds and double beds. A large tatami bed is specially arranged for children, so they can sleep peacefully 😁. The room is fully equipped with various disposable toiletries and an instant water kettle. I especially like the service 👍🏻. The breakfast variety is much richer than we imagined, including eggs, corn, pumpkin, sweet potato, millet porridge, minced meat noodles, small cold dishes, fruits, and they even made cakes for the children. On the first day we arrived at the B&B, the staff came to meet us and help with our luggage. It was raining, and they reminded us that there were umbrellas available at the door. I also boiled some hot water to drink. There is a big solid wooden table in the lobby on the first floor, with fruits and snacks on it. The children were very happy 😄. The inside and outside of the door are carefully decorated with green plants and hydrangeas, which is very comfortable. The geographical location is perfect for our travel, close to the main road, with parking spaces available. When we don't want to drive, we can take a taxi or stroll into the ancient city for shopping and eating. As soon as I went out, I saw the city wall. I went to see the night view on my last night! This time everyone praised the convenient location.

The room was large and affordable. The breakfast was quite healthy with lots of vegetables. I brought three suitcases and they delivered them to the airport. The service was attentive and it was a good choice as it was close to the airport. There were no USB ports in the room, which I hope could be improved.

This B&B's service is truly exceptional! From the electric tricycles that helped transport our luggage to the welcome fruit upon check-in and the small gift upon check-out, every detail felt truly thoughtful. The convenient location, easy parking, clean and comfortable rooms, and even the restaurant recommendations were spotless and satisfying! This experience truly deserves a five-star recommendation!
