NASPA New Otani Perfect family stay with spacious rooms and great snow park for kids! ”We had a wonderful stay at NASPA New Otani. The hotel's location is very convenient, not far from the train station, and the free shuttle bus service is available throughout the day, which made our travels so easy. We stayed in a Japanese Style Room, and it was incredibly spacious at 50 square meters. It was perfect for our family of three (parents and our 3-year-old child). There was plenty of room for our little one to run around and play comfortably without feeling cramped. The private snow park at the hotel is fantastic, especially for young children. Our child had so much fun playing in the snow, and it felt very safe and family-friendly. We are truly impressed with the hospitality and the facilities. We are already planning to come back and stay here again next year! Highly recommended for families.”

We are not allowed to wear our own shoes once we enter the lobby. If we are expected to walk bare feet, maybe the hotel should consider providing guest with indoor slippers. It is very uncomfortable walking to the restaurants barefeet as no matter how clean they keep the floors, there’s bound to be food spills and oily surfaces. Breakfast and Dinner are great, just need more variety for guests staying more than 3 days.

It's a bit of a walk from the station, but considering the extensive facilities, it's worth it. I had a very comfortable stay, with a large public bath, two restaurants, and a 24-hour convenience store. Bandai City is within walking distance, making it easy to go shopping. I had booked a plan that didn't include breakfast, but when I checked in, they added it to my stay for one day (1,800 yen). It was delicious. I was also able to request luggage storage after check-out. Although it's a little far from the station, I'm glad I chose this hotel!

It was a trip with my wife who also served as a job, but the downtown area in front of the station was close, and in addition to that, the customer service of everyone at the hotel was polite. We are doing well, such as offering a delicious place to eat in Nagaoka city as a guide map. There was also a rare public bath in the hotel, which was slow.

The hotel itself is quite nice, and the service at the reception desk was excellent. The staff in person were polite and genuinely tried to help with anything I needed during my stay. However, I was very disappointed with the phone service. When I called the hotel and spoke in English, the call was hung up on me. I tried several times and the same thing happened. It did not seem like the staff member on the phone was willing to assist or find a solution. This left a very negative impression. As this is an “International Hotel,” I expected at least basic English communication or an attempt to assist rather than disconnecting the call. I already informed the hotel about this issue and I sincerely hope they improve their phone service permanently. Additionally, the hotel is located 10 mins by walk from the city center so you will likely need to take a taxi to travel around. Overall, the in person service was good but the phone communication experience needs serious improvement.

I can't give this a good review! I've stayed at so many ryokans with dinner and breakfast included, but this Futaba really left a lot to be desired! First off, the guy at the front desk checking us in was so quiet, he didn't even give us the most basic information like which floor the hot springs were on; he just handed us an all-English hotel guide. Second, this is the only onsen hotel I've ever stayed in where the bathroom smelled, and even the carpet in the entryway by the toilet had a urine smell... Then, the hot spring was just a regular public bath, and there wasn't even an ice pop after soaking. Finally, when we left, the staff didn't help us bring our luggage from the lobby to the shuttle bus. I had to drag it to the bus myself, and then the staff finally came out to open the door and help us load it in. (We were the only family on the bus at the time) It's just a really hard experience to rate...

Everything was smooth and pleasant from check-in to check-out. The only minor issue was that the air conditioning couldn’t be switched to cooling, as the hotel uses a central HVAC system that provides heating during the autumn season. Since the windows couldn’t be opened to let in cool air, the room felt a bit warm at times. Other than that, everything else was comfortable and enjoyable.

Booked a room in Building 2 for three nights, and got an upgrade to the club floor. The room wasn't huge, but it had four beds, enough for two adults and two children, and the bathroom had a separate shower and toilet. The cable car is right downstairs, making skiing super convenient. There are tons of restaurants; we tried pizza, BBQ, ramen, and an izakaya, among others. The prices were reasonable, and everything tasted great. We'll definitely be back, highly recommend it!

I misplaced my gloves some where at a town I was visiting. The hotel staff were very helpful to help me call these places that I visited to check if they can find my gloves. Despite the language barrier, they were very proactive in their assistance and help. I cannot help but feel the famous Japanese hospitality from their services. They have an in house restaurant that served local dishes that you must try in Niigata, their service were also very polite and welcoming. I felt extremely comfortable with my stay in the hotel because of their attention to service.

GGuest UserThe hotel itself was nice, but the staff at the ski resort was horrible, the rentals are also not well maintained. The boards are not waxed, which makes it difficult to work with as there are a lot of flat routes which are difficult to avoid (Pony and village road were the flattest slope Ive ever seen in my life, I had to unstrap and walk and the board just wouldn't move). Ski resort staff were unfriendly and the rental staff was the worst, there was a lady there that was cold and rude. The only reason why the rental shop is surviving is probably because the equipments are salomon branded and that there is no other option.  I would visit again but only because the routes are fun, Myoko long run was the best, but I would never want to rent from the shop again. The food was very very good. For breakfast, you could choose from western or Japanese buffet. Western buffet is highly recommended, the omelette was the best ive eaten in my life and there was a diy risotto which was great as well. For dinner, there were 4 options, either buffet, steak, Japanese or shabushabu. All requiring reservations which is tough if you are checking in the evening as some might not be available. Highly recommend the steak, the food was good and the staff were amazing. Japanese was the hardest to get a reservation for but the food was quite underwhelming. The room was clean and ski lockers are also provided but it's tiny and can barely fit 2 boards. But I wish that in the toilet in the common area, you can adjust the tap temperature as the water is freezing cold. Amenities wise, bottled water are provided daily, also, yukata was provided but you can only wear them to the onsen which was extremely troublesome as I had to change multiple times a day.  The hotel provides shuttle bus services to and fro jyoetsumyoko station which was easy to book. The bus drivers were also friendly and helped out with the luggage. In summary, for a 5 stars hotel, it didn't live up to expectations, ski resort and rental staffs were unwilling to help and unfriendly. Also, some of the staffs could not speak Japanese which is puzzling for a hotel in Japan. If not for the amazing snow and slopes I would never come back.

BBH TSAIOsado Seaview Hot Spring Hotel Located on the cape on the southwest side of Sado Island, it has ample parking space and great views. You can enjoy the sunset and the Sea of Japan. The check-in staff is friendly and detailed, and there are many special services that can be reserved. There are welcome drinks in the lobby from 3pm to 6pm, local cultural performances at 7:15pm, free shuttle buses to the Sado Kinzan ruins to enjoy the light show at 8pm or 9:30pm, and free midnight snacks (Inari sushi) at 10pm. Quite a variety of resources, you can come to the lobby to use/reservation if you need. This time I stayed in a tatami room. Although there is no own shower space, the space is very spacious and should be able to accommodate up to six people. Some facilities look a little old, but small places are still noticed, such as small stickers for writing names on slippers, new heating kettles for snacks and drinks, and multiple USB connectors for charging extension cords, which are very considerate. The mattress will be laid in the evening, and it feels older. Some quilts feel a bit old, and the pillows only feel hard and a bit flat. The air conditioning in the room is a little inconvenient to adjust. Sometimes it is too hot and sometimes it is too cold. I have to get up and adjust it again when I go to bed at night. It is recommended to update the air conditioning system. The public hot spring is on the first floor. There are not many people around 6 or 7 o'clock in the evening and around 9 o'clock on weekends. There are semi-open-air hot spring pools, oven saunas, and water baths. Towels are provided, so you don't have to bring your own. There are also many shampoos to choose from, and the lotions and cleaning products provided are also very good👍🏻 The breakfast options are very diverse, with many local ingredients (Sado milk🥛, Sado fried yellowtail, etc.) The most recommended seafood bowl🍱, you can freely match salmon, tuna, fresh shrimp, salmon* and other seafood, very delicious! The restaurant staff are also very friendly.

LLing YeowThis is one of the best hotels we've stayed in, we enjoyed all the little details - free flow of coffee and tea with snacks throughout the day, complimentary light pastries for breakfast and happy hour with free plum wine and sake. The onsen, both public and private, is so cosy and relaxing. And the overall design of the hotel, utilizing the previous farmhouse as the foundation, created a quaint yet calm space. Yes it's a little pricey stay but we would def come back again if we're heading to Minamiuonama.

DDaniel HuggettPositives: - Very close to the station - Modern hotel and modern room - Plenty of room space - Polite and friendly staff - Large bed Negatives: - Bathroom seems ”forgotten about” - Rest of hotel is spacious and modern. But the bathroom was tiny with very little space and felt out of place with the rest of the hotel. Bath was very narrow and small Overall: Very good location and modern hotel. Bathroom just stopped it from getting perfect score

KKibiwottOne of the loveliest ryokans we've ever stayed at in Japan, wish we stayed for longer. Every part of the hotel is so beautiful and serves as a lovely photo backdrop. There is a lounge with coffee/tea in the mornings and alcohol and snacks in the evening. There is also a playroom (suitable for infants to 6years old). Service is top notch, everyone is so helpful and friendly. Extremely easy to communicate with them as the staff can speak English well. They gave us a map and told us where we could go for food or to the ski resorts and gave a lot of local advice. They provide all the amenities you need. They even have rain boots that you can borrow and wear in case your shoes are not waterproof. It snowed heavily while we were there and the staff are super attentive - they asked where we were headed to and suggested for comfort, that we wear the hotel's rain boots as they knew my partner's shoe wasn't waterproof/suitable to walk through the snow. Rooms are very clean, big and comfortable (only that the futons are a little thin). The onsens are rather small, but the outdoor onsen is so beautiful. They provide a shuttle service to the train station (upon request) , although it is a relatively short walk - 5mins - and easy to walk if there is no snow. 7 eleven right next to the train station and New Days inside the train station. We loved every single thing about this charming lovely hotel and we will definitely be back if we are in Echigo Yuzawa.

LLieu Munn LoongMy wife and I have had a 3-night stay at this Toyoko Inn Joetsu Myok Eli Nishi Gucci Room #1306 from 13 to 16 October 2025. The Hotel is just a 1-minute walk away from the Joetsumyoko Station. Similar to other Toyoko Inns, the modest reception is on the First Floor and it has limited parking lots on besides the Hotel, and also a bigger open car park about a 2-minute walk away. So we are grateful and thankful that we were given a lot for just ¥300 per day for 3 days at the open car park very nearby. The Hotel staff are polite and helpful, and are not quite able to communicate in simple English. As the Hotel is located quite away from the city centre of this very small city, so there is no shopping centre nearby except a few eateries are near the Station and within comfortable walking distance. The hotel room is the standard typical type whereby it is small but very clean. The bed and pillows are comfortable for our liking, and the small bathroom - again the typical Japanese type - is clean and its has strong water pressure for a comfortable shower. Like all Toyoko Inns, the Hotel provides daily breakfast of simple home cook styles; varieties are limited, but it is very comforting that gives a nice start for the day. Also, it offers free coffee and tea via machines 24 hours daily. At SGD S$97 per night with breakfast, we find it value for money and we will choose to stay here if we travel to Joetsu or Myoko again.
