Lotte Arai Resort offers an exceptional experience for those seeking breathtaking views and excellent skiing opportunities. The resort’s stunning surroundings and convenient location make it an ideal destination for winter enthusiasts.
Hotel was generally clean except for the front area where shoes need to be removed.. the floor mat was wet but it wasnt changed, so its kindaof gross.
Amenities are not great either. No lotion, no facial products, only basic toiletries and toothbrush provided. No kids yukata provided too for my child.
Food was very average - both breakfast and dinner. No variety, everyday its a type of shabu - 1 day pork & beef, 1 day beef, 1 day fish. My kid got very bored of the food.
Bed was comfy. Pillows were crap and only 1 pillow each.. View was quite nice, could see e neighbouring mountains.
Location is very good, 5 to 10mins walk from e echigo yuzawa train station. There are quite alot of food at the train station.
While this is supposedly a ryokan, its just another dormy inn. Dont expect too much - considered decent.
Location -
Very good. Opposite Niigata Station, exit from Bandai Square. There is a Lawson opposite (Station side), and a 7 eleven next to the hotel. Located right along an entire street of food. Don Quijote is a 7 min walk away.
Room -
Huge, clean, comfortable. Beds and pillows were very comfortable. Lighting was a bit rigid and oddly placed, but not a big deal. Housekeeping does a great job.
Front Desk Service -
Queues on weekends are very long. Check in took 15 to 20 mins on a Saturday. Staff did their best to speed up the process by getting guests to fill up the information cards while waiting.
Staff don't interact or smile much. They can't speak English so you need Google Translate. They had 1 foreign staff on duty (who I assume can speak English on, as her colleague after struggling for so long to understand, turned to ask her before she helped). If not, she just stood there quietly, without offering any help of assistance, even though she immediately knew what we were asking for.
Amenities -
They don't provide the standard cotton wool and buds, have to purchase at extra cost.
There is green tea and coffee sachets provided for you to take in the lobby, as well as ear plugs.
Wi-Fi connection -
Strong connection, but a little spotty as connection will drop randomly.
Onsen/Lounge -
Very small, very crowded. While I was there, only 3 or 4 hair dryers, and all were being used by guests who were hogging it for over an hour as they were applying face masks, etc, so most people left with their hair wet. Weekends are definitely a lot more crowded, so avoid weekends if you can.
There's also a lounge area with 3 massage chairs, books, vending machine and big sitting area on the same floor.
Overall -
Great and enjoyable stay. Will stay again if we are in Niigata.
Wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel provides a shuttle bus from Echigo Yuzawa station therefore it is very convenient via Shinkansen from Tokyo. I do like the room design, it felt showa-era Japanese with a mix of western scifi at the same time, kinda like the film space odyssey. The receptionist was very kind and gave us discounts for ski lifts. Ski lockers were included so we could keep all our gear downstairs. There are many restaurants to choose from, best meal was the steak paella with the option to add extra meat at Edelweiss. Breakfast view from Kiyotsu restaurant was majestic, got to see the early birds ski while enjoying our meal. We were at the slopes pretty much from the morning until after the sun sets because there was night ski! After a whole day of skiing, resting at the outdoor onsen overlooking the snow garden was surreal, all the pains and aches just disappeared. To end the night, we watched the fireworks display from our room. We went to Naeba to ski but received far more than I expected. Thanks to all thestaff for the wonderful experience. We will be back soon and already planning a return.
I love the food at this hotel which is fresh and refreshing as compared with a number of other hotels or ryokans. 5 stars for the food! Location at a golf course however didn’t offer us much chance to get out and walk about much.
The cabin we stayed with a king bed is very nice. The staff are very welcoming and speak good English too. The onsen is my favorite. As it was off peak, not crowded. The dinner and breakfast top up was very worth it as well. We ate very well and enjoyed the fireplace outside the restaurant afterward. Rem to check out the merchandise and the Snow Peak Museum nearby. I hope to come back again one day.
We had an amazing time at NASPA New Otani — this hotel is a fantastic choice if you’re visiting Yuzawa, especially for a winter getaway! The staff were incredibly warm, welcoming, and attentive throughout our stay, making us feel right at home from check-in to check-out.
Our room was spacious, clean, and comfortable — perfect for relaxing after a day of skiing. The location is ideal for winter sports lovers with ski-in/ski-out access to the slopes and easy shuttle service to Echigo-Yuzawa Station, which made getting around a breeze even in snowy weather.
The onsen and bathing facilities were relaxing and just what we needed after spending time outdoors. The buffet breakfast and dinner had plenty of variety and were really enjoyable, with something for everyone.
While the hotel is set a little away from town, the free shuttle made it convenient to explore the area if we wanted. Overall, it felt like a perfect blend of comfort, convenience, and superb service — highly recommended!
Very good design hotel, transportation needs to be booked one day in advance through the platform. There is only one trip at 15:15 to Echigo Yuzawa Hatago Isen Hotel. Isen is opposite Echigo Yuzawa Station and is also the hotel of Long Yan's family. After explaining to the staff, you can rest and wait in the hotel. This pick-up station is not fixed and can only be made by appointment. The ride takes about half an hour. After arriving at the hotel, there is an efficient and warm reception. I booked a basic room type with one night and two meals. The room is very large and spacious. The hotel is a tangible cultural material of the Hakkaisan Wine Industry. The ancient farmhouse mansion was rebuilt. The design was awarded, and it protects history and pays attention to the protection of the surrounding environment. I like it very much. It is simple and fashionable. Tea and snacks are provided in the lobby. Plum wine and sake are provided at 5 pm. Now we don't have bento in the room, we eat in the restaurant. Dinner is Japanese style. I think it is very attentive and exquisite for the per capita charge. The environment is beautiful, the service is standardized and enthusiastic, the wine and beverages are cheap, and I had a very happy and satisfying meal. I think it is better than the Japanese restaurant in Tobira Onsen Myojinkan, which costs more than 4,000 yuan per person. Breakfast is a buffet, with one of three main dishes to choose from, and the rest are buffets. The quality is excellent and the taste is very good. There is a shamisen performance from 8:30 to 9:15 in the evening. The couple sings and plays the guitar and is professional. The hot spring has a large public bath and a private bath. The private bath is open when the lights are on, but it is often full. Check out at 11 o'clock and the shuttle bus will take you to Echigo Yuzawa Station. It is very comfortable and convenient with the shuttle bus. The designer may be a commercial designer. There are some shortcomings in the accommodation. There is a lot of light leakage. When the lights in the room are turned off at night, the lights in the corridor and public areas will shine through. You don't need to turn on the lights to go to the bathroom late at night. The windows and doors are not soundproof. When it rains, the eaves drip a lot. Fortunately, I prepared eye masks and earplugs. When it rains, the air conditioning heating room is set to 30 degrees and it can't be warm. It can only keep it warm. It is normal for Japanese hotels to have curtains without light blocking. Overall, a very good hotel.
Spectacular views particularly from the corner room. Amenities packs were provided for children and onsite overnight parking available. Walking distance from the Bandai Pier markets and there's a cafe/shop upstairs with a convenience store in the same building (only open to 7pm) downstairs.
Room clean but the location is not very good.
If u don’t mind everyday eat hotel then is fine if u want to try outside food u need to take shuttle bus (every 1 hr and last bus is 4.30pm)

BBeeSkyThis hotel is located at a very convenient location near Echigo-Yuzawa JR train station. It is also a stone's throw away from Family Mart convenience store where I get my breakfast and coffee every morning. During ski season, the area around the train station gets booked up fast due to the convenient links to the various ski resorts around the locality.
The owner of the hotel was very friendly and helpful. He was showed kindness and was concerned of my well-being too after the snowboarding sessions. Thank you so much for the enjoyable and wonderful stay at Yuzawa!
GGuest UserTravelling with my mom. Had a brilliant stay even though there were super strong winds on that night. There was perfectly delicious restaurants nearby, only 2mins away was ootoya- excellent food and service. The man who was running the hotel reception was so kind and friendly and went to extraordinary lengths to help us with our luggage and shipping to our next hotel. The breakfast was also yummy, simple flavors but wonderfully traditional japanese fare. My mom has some mobility issues too, so we were glad to see the relatively spacious room and wider than normal bath tub. 100% recommended!
One small issue with trip, not the hotel, I would have appreciated a more obvious flag out that the payment made online was a DEPOSIT. The man was quite flustered when I said I paid online already because you have to pay again when you get there then get a refund from trip after checking out. Please be aware of this when you book! But it was my oversight - although trip PLEASE emphasise these things a little more!
GGuest UserEverything was good, but the hotel is a bit dated. The staff were very responsive and helped us quickly figure out how to turn on the air conditioning! You can send your luggage to another hotel, and the onsen is really good 👍
KK三浦We have continued to use it since last year.
The size of the room is similar to that of a typical business hotel, but it is kept clean and the bed is comfortable.
Because location is near interchange, it is convenient to go here and there.

GGuest UserIt is a hotel with history. The maintenance and service is good. Breakfast and dinner buffet are good too. The pick up service from the station can be arranged immediately upon arrival, highly appreciated. The outdoor hot spring is good.
GGuest UserStaffs are very friendly, even though they don't speak much English, they would try their best to communicate with you.
The hotel is located on a little hill side, so there's a lovely view, one side of the room has the ocean view (see image), the other side of the room has the spectacular snow mountain view (didn't take image).
The hotel building itself believe is a bit old, so the rooms and bathrooms are a bit dated, but you can tell they try to modernize as much as they could, like very new aircon, new hairdryer (there's one old one attached to the wall which doesn't work, but the new one is in the drawer), TV etc. Bathroom is a little rundown, but it still function fine. The room key was really a ”key”, which you also have to insert into the wall and turn it for lights and electric in the room, it's quite retro and interesting, and it's the first time I've came across this kind of system.
Hotel restaurant was the same one as the we stayed in an other city, and food standard was the same - which was good.
Breakfast was superb, we loved it.
Overall the experience was good and we were happy with our stay.
