The stay here was absolutely fantastic, exceeding all expectations!
This was by far the best hotel experience we had during our May Day holiday trip.
Zhangye doesn't have many high-rated international chain hotels, so choosing a hotel this time involved a lot of careful deliberation. We finally settled on this one, which was a reasonable distance from the train station, newly opened, and had good reviews. From the name, it seems to be a local brand.
Upon checking in, I found I definitely made the right choice! A good hotel truly enhances a journey.
From the moment I met the pick-up driver at the train station, I knew I hadn't chosen wrong. Perhaps seeing that I had two kids with me, they proactively upgraded our room.
There's water available on every floor.
Fresh fruit plates are provided in the room daily.
Turn-down service includes yogurt, eye masks, and earplugs.
The attentiveness was truly touching.
The service was absolutely, incredibly, and proactively detailed. They were highly sensitive to our needs without making us feel watched.
The amenities at the front desk were thoughtful: iodine swabs, band-aids, disinfectant wipes, masks, dental floss, makeup remover wipes, hair ties, hair clips, and even hair gel... precisely meeting the needs of a mom traveling with kids.
They absolutely must keep this up! I'll definitely stay here again when I visit Zhangye in the future.

Wonderful place and wonderful family! The best accommodation we stayed in in China. Perfect position very close to the monastery. Very clean.
As soon as we arrived we were greeted with a snack of dried dates, bread, butter and tzampa, accompanied by some delicious tea.
We stayed with this family for two days and they always offered us breakfast, the first day with house tea and fresh bread, the second day with coffee and fried bread.
We spent the evening with them and they always kept offering us food and tea, always making us feel welcome.
The house is wonderful, ******* style, wooden, always very clean.
The beds are really comfortable, and they have a warming blanket. Inside our room we also had an electric heater to warm ourselves, which made the room really warm and cosy.
The bathroom has hot water.
You can fill your water bottles from the drinking water containers they have in front of each room.
We always saw them cleaning the common areas.
The owner, his wife and their three children welcomed us warmly like family.
I will recommend them to all my friends.
Really recommended!

Easy to find and I believe it's the tallest building in Lanzhou. The overall service was excellent and made for a comfortable stay. I even got a complimentary room upgrade, which was great. The view was amazing, practically overlooking the entire city of Lanzhou. The food here is truly delicious. I had dinner at their Chinese restaurant, and the taste was fantastic, with very fresh ingredients. Breakfast was incredibly rich with a wide variety of choices. The beef noodle soup broth was incredibly fresh, and the noodles were delicious too. I'll definitely consider staying here again next time I'm in Lanzhou.

Just a few minutes' walk from Dunhuang Night Market, the hotel was clean and the beds were incredibly comfortable. The front desk staff were all very welcoming and always had a smile on their faces. Ms. Xiaoqing from the tourism department, who picked us up, was also incredibly warm and hospitable. Big thumbs up! Next time I come to Dunhuang, I'll definitely stay at Dunhuang Hotel again.
Best hotel I’ve stayed in on my trip. The family made me feel so welcome. The room was very comfortable and quiet. Lots of hot water. Food was great. They gave me a bike to cycle to the grasslands and did my washing for free! Also dropped me at the bus station. So kind and lovely. And the owner speaks perfect English.
Perfect location for visiting the Rainbow Mountains, with the western entrance in walking distance. The exceptionally friendly reception also recommended scenic spots in the area, and we were able to borrow traditional clothing for our photo shoot free of charge. The overnight stay in a heated yurt was very comfortable, with shower and toilet facilities within easy reach. The breakfast was excellent and varied; even our demanding children gave it two thumbs up.
The overall homestay completely exceeded our expectations: highly recommended 🌟
Very very clean, the design is particularly warm, the rooms with balconies are equipped with a full set of equipment for tea in the stove. You can make your own tea on the balcony. The balcony is opposite the highest point of the Quanzhagana B&B. The fairy beach and the mountains are all in the morning. 7:30 (we came in May) You can watch the sunrise directly from the balcony 🌅
The equipment in the room is very complete. We came in May. The weather was slightly cool. There was a vertical air conditioner in the room. It was warm in five minutes. The bed, bathroom, shower room were very clean. The disposable toilet pad and towels were all prepared. More thoughtful than we thought.
The restaurant is on the top floor. You don’t have to worry about eating problems. Three meals a day can be solved in the restaurant. The meal has Chinese food. It can be said to be very delicious. It is the most delicious meal in Gannan.
As soon as I entered the door, the boss sister cooked the barley milk tea. The three cups were also cut. The watermelon and melon were very clean. The boss brother and sister were very clean. Even their own puppy was very clean. The rooftop was very clean. The view was very good.

Honestly, when you come to Dunhuang, there's no need to rush from one attraction to another every single day! This time, I deliberately chose this guesthouse tucked away in a village, mainly to slow down, relax, and just chill. The overall experience was really therapeutic, but there are a few honest critiques I want to share to help future visitors.
First, let's talk about the major positives! The location truly exceeded my expectations. It's not in the bustling city center; instead, it's hidden in a village, completely avoiding the crowds and traffic of the city. It's peaceful and quiet, not noisy at all, setting the perfect mood for a relaxed vacation. It's also not far from Mingsha Mountain and Mogao Grottoes, and taxis are readily available whenever you step out, making it super convenient to get to attractions without having to wake up early or squeeze onto a crowded bus.
The value for money for accommodation is also great. For around 300 RMB per person, you can stay in a courtyard room with two large beds, offering excellent privacy. It's really pleasant to sit in your private little courtyard and have afternoon tea. I have to praise the memory foam pillows provided; they're just the right balance of soft and firm, ensuring a good night's sleep after a day of traveling – a huge plus point!
The guesthouse itself has an Instagram-worthy cafe. The freshly ground coffee is excellent. There are several spots for afternoon tea, including a sandy area, a pool, and an orchard. Sipping coffee and taking photos with the cool breeze from the desert makes every shot look like a professional, atmospheric photo, instantly bringing a sense of relaxation. In the evening, there's also a stargazing platform. Far from city lights, you can look up and see a sky full of stars, instantly melting away all your travel fatigue. You don't have to worry about food either. While there aren't many restaurants within walking distance, the guesthouse can arrange customized local specialty meals. Having a BBQ or hotpot in the courtyard feels so special. If you don't feel like moving, delivery services for takeout are also very fast, perfectly satisfying any lazy traveler.
Now, for a few honest minor complaints – consider these if you're particular:
Since it's in a village, there aren't many shops along the street nearby, so it's not very convenient to just go out for a casual stroll, snack, or buy groceries. However, anything you need can be ordered for delivery.
The temperature difference between morning and evening is significant, and it can get quite windy in the courtyard. Remember to bring a light jacket if you plan to have outdoor afternoon tea.
Overall, the pros outweigh the cons. This place is perfect for those who don't like rushing from one attraction to another, prefer peace and quiet, and are looking for atmosphere, healing, and a truly relaxing and laid-back vacation.

I've lost count of how many times I've stayed at this hotel. I just stumbled upon these beautiful photos from a previous stay in my album today and couldn't resist sharing them. Every time I walk in, I'm drawn to the authentic, down-to-earth vibe. The front desk staff are always so welcoming, eagerly greeting us and helping with our luggage. The rooms are spotless and incredibly comfortable. But the absolute best part is the snow outside the window. Waking up and drawing the curtains to a pristine white landscape, with snowflakes gently drifting down – it instantly puts me in a fantastic mood. I also have to rave about the hotel's pour-over coffee. The freshly ground beans are so aromatic, and the coffee itself is rich and smooth, not bitter at all. A warm cup in the morning, enjoyed while gazing at the snowy scenery, is pure bliss. The service is also exceptionally thoughtful; any request is met quickly and efficiently. Next time I'm in Jiayuguan, I will definitely choose this hotel again. I genuinely recommend it to everyone!

An family trip that exceeded all expectations! Both rooms were a delightful surprise.
Finally got around to writing this review, and it absolutely deserves five stars! We traveled with another family and specifically booked two family rooms, each with its own unique charm.
One was the 'Beach Family Room' with a small courtyard, perfect for kids to enjoy playing in the sand without even leaving the room. The other was a scenic room with an open-air terrace, and the view was absolutely stunning! You could watch the sunrise in the morning and count stars at night. The terrace had a榻榻米 (tatami mat) area for tea, where you could bask in the sun and gaze at the Mingsha Mountain. This season, the surrounding area was filled with blooming apricot blossoms – simply beautiful.
I especially want to commend the service: From check-in to check-out, every staff member was smiling, proactively helped with luggage, and cheerfully saw us off when we checked out. Attention to detail truly shines through.
The breakfast was a highlight! The variety was much richer than expected, with both Chinese and Western options. The freshly cooked noodles and fried eggs were delicious. But the most impressive part was the coffee – not the usual watery Americano you find at buffets, but rich, aromatic freshly ground coffee!
In summary: For a family trip or a large group, book this place without hesitation. The two rooms complemented each other perfectly, keeping both adults and children happy. We'll definitely choose this place again next time and recommend it to our friends.

When one or two people are out, the most troublesome thing is eating. Eating farm meals here, served by family members, tastes good, not wasteful, and very warm.
Pick up at the entrance of the scenic spot, help buy tickets, and take the initiative to take you to the scenic spot, saving the shuttle bus fare.
XXiaoQbumojiOverall, I'm satisfied. The price isn't expensive, so it offers decent value for money.
Facilities: The room itself is quite good, on par with your typical Mercure or Ji Hotel in a city. However, there's a disconnect with the public facilities like the laundry room, elevators, and restaurant, which are a bit subpar, more like a guesthouse.
Environment: It's right next to the night market, so the location is excellent. There's also a shuttle bus across the street that goes to the Mogao Grottoes.
Hygiene: There were some blind spots for cleanliness. On the day I checked in, there was still a positioning sticker from the previous guest's bathtub liner stuck to the tub. It's not a major issue, but it does show the level of hygiene.
For around 200 yuan, it's a very good price. If it were peak season, they'd need to improve a bit more. I regret not taking photos of the interior, but the hotel's pictures are accurate and trustworthy; the actual room is exactly as shown.
AAnonymous UserIf life is a never-ending journey, then the camping trip at the Desert Star Hotel is undoubtedly a highlight of my journey.
When I arrived at the campsite, the first thing that attracted me was the unique tent house. Unlike regular tents, the top of the tent is made of special transparent materials, like a huge viewing platform, which builds a bridge of communication between me and the vast galaxy. As night fell, I couldn't wait to lie on the soft bed, and when I looked up, the bright starry sky was presented to me without reservation. The stars twinkled, like gems inlaid on the black sky, beautiful as a dream. At that moment, the world seemed to press the mute button, and the impetuousness and noise in my heart were instantly soothed. The unique beauty of this quietness made me intoxicated.
It is worth mentioning that the hotel staff is very considerate. After placing the order, the customer service guy at the front desk added our contact information and gave us some local travel tips, which saved us a lot of time. From the warm reception at check-in, to the careful guidance during the activities, to the warm greetings at night, every detail made people feel cared for. They not only provided me with thoughtful service, but also made me feel the simplicity and enthusiasm of the desert people.
This desert camping trip not only allowed me to appreciate the magnificent scenery of the desert, but also experienced exciting and interesting activities, which became an eternal and beautiful memory in my heart.
AARTHURStaff was really friendly and tries to speak English. Cleanliness of the room was not perfect, given the stains in the toilet and the rubbish underneath the bed. Overall the hygiene was good though. If you want a low cost stay with a good breakfast, this is the place to be! Location is also very good in the center of all major sights in the neighbourhood.

Llarry199112The overall style is nice, camping-style. The two owners are older brothers from Xi'an who ride motorcycles. They are all motorcycle enthusiasts and nice people. The only drawback is that there is no toilet upstairs, so you have to climb four floors back and forth. It's no problem for young people, but friends with the elderly are advised to stay in rooms on the lower floors.
GGuest UserThe B&B has a large yard, a good environment, and is surrounded by green trees. It is very close to the Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Lake scenic area. The owner will take you to a small path, which takes less than ten minutes to reach the scenic area, which is especially convenient for watching the sunrise and sunset. The room is spacious, clean and tidy, and there is no odor. The bathroom is separated into dry and wet areas, and the spray hot water is large, so it is very comfortable to take a bath. Recommended! ! !

HHeong Siew YinLocation is very ideal, along a pleasant Main Street, around 5 to 8 mins walk to night market, yet away from the rowdiness of tourists. Just opposite there are convenience shops, a western bakery (Angelia) and stretch of small restaurants in an alley which are of good quality.
Front desk services are fantastic especially helpful for foreigners ( though they don’t speak English- try to use e-translator), regarding local attractions and getting a cab for you if encounter difficulties. They are genuinely helpful to try to overcome your difficulties. Special mention on Ya Jin who even asked her regular taxi driver to accompany us to buy the Mogao Grottoes tickets and arranged for a long distance taxi trip to Liuyuan South Railway station. Wang Na also offered her WeChat contact number if we have difficulties coming back at night. Really warm hospitality.
Even the hotel driver who fetched us from the airport was nice(complimentary service). The housekeepers are too hardworking.
Only complain I have is the breakfast which served exactly the same thing every morning and of limited choices. Thus Angelia bakery just opposite was really a good alternative.
MManmanlaibuhouhuiA bit pricey?! Is it expensive? Are there any cheaper options within the Zhagana scenic area? Prices vary depending on the market. Considering the environment, facilities, food, and service, it's quite reasonable.
Let's start with the environment, which is its biggest advantage. Located next to Fairy Beach, halfway up the mountain, it's quiet without the crowds of guesthouses. Parking is available right outside the gate; the parking lot is huge. Fairy Beach, a must-see in Zhagana, is a ten-minute walk along the boardwalk, saving you the hassle of climbing a long path and the cost of the sightseeing bus.
Opening the curtains reveals a panoramic view of Zhagana, comparable to the Dari viewing platform. Compared to the crowded guesthouses with their endless rooftops, this is much better.
The rooms aren't large but are adequate, and the facilities are new. The building and room design are quite innovative; perhaps due to the environment, the exterior design of the building isn't as sophisticated as the interior.
The service also deserves praise—warm, attentive, and providing a complete Zhagana travel guide. To avoid traffic jams on the Jiangdie Highway, we set off at 6 AM, and the owner even offered to drive us, which was very touching.
The owner's cooking was quite good; we ordered boiled yak meat, which wasn't overly seasoned like some other restaurants, and it was spicy and flavorful.
Finally, one thing to note: the bathroom drain in my room had a problem; it was leaking slowly and needs to be checked.
Note: The panoramic and nighttime photos of Zhagana were taken with my phone pressed against the floor-to-ceiling window.
