Pet-friendly Hotels in Gansu, China

This was my second stay at the Hyatt Regency Lanzhou, and overall, I was extremely satisfied. The hotel's location right by the Yellow River is excellent, making it incredibly convenient for a stroll outside. The panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows in the room offer a wonderfully therapeutic view of the city's nightscape in the evening. The guest rooms are spacious with a simple yet elegant design, and the housekeeping is meticulous. The bedding is soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing is excellent, ensuring a very peaceful night's sleep. The front desk staff were warm, attentive, and responded promptly to any issues. They were thoughtful and polite. The breakfast buffet offered a rich variety of options, including not only Western dishes but also local specialties like freshly prepared beef noodles and fermented rice soup, all authentically flavored, allowing guests to experience the true taste of Lanzhou. In summary, it's very convenient for travel and sightseeing, and also close to the Waterwheel Expo Park. Whether you're in Lanzhou for business or leisure, this is an excellent accommodation choice. The overall quality is superb, and I'll definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Lanzhou.

One of my favourite stays in 6 months across China Communication before arrival was smooth via WeChat, and the staff proactively helped me plan a full itinerary for the region, all in English, which as a foreign solo traveller in China I truly appreciated. The hotel arranged a driver who picked me up directly at the train station gate and took me wherever I needed to go. I could adjust my plans at any time, and he was always there waiting or arrived right on schedule. The whole organzation was genuinely flexible and reliable. The location of the hotel is perfect, like less than 10 minutes walking from Danxia Park West Gate, so you can catch the 5:30 AM opening for sunrise at Platform 1 and go for sunset at Platform 3. The staff helped me to go to Binguo, Kangle Grassland, Alien Scenic Park, Pingshan Grand Canyon and Mati Temple. Over 5 days, I saw far more than I ever could have managed on my own, especially as this area is really remote and no didi is available. It is one of my favourite trips and stays from six months in China and I’ve seen quite a bit. Would come back without hesitation.

We decided to stay in Wuwei at the last minute, so hotel brand wasn't an issue; Hilton was our first choice. We booked a Hilton in Lanzhou on the first day of our trip, and another in Zhangye on the second. We were originally planning to return directly on Friday, but due to heavy snow blocking the roads, we had to decide to stay in Wuwei for one night. After successfully booking, the receptionist, Xiao Xu, called immediately to check on us. We arrived at the hotel at 1:30 AM, and she was very kind to wait for us. Moreover, upon check-in, all three rooms were upgraded, which was great. The frustration of the snow-blocked roads was instantly swept away by the Hilton – fantastic! The room temperature was just right, and the bedding was very comfortable. All three rooms were on the same floor. The breakfast was excellent, with a wide variety of choices, and when I mentioned I wanted to take a coffee with me, a staff member proactively made it for me. Very thoughtful. I will definitely choose this Hilton again next time I'm in Wuwei.

Highly recommend the Earth-Built Hotel! The room styles are unique, making for a warm and cozy stay. The hygiene is top-notch, with every detail sparkling clean. Their beverages are great too; the pour-over coffee is aromatic, and the teas are authentic. The staff provides thoughtful and genuine service, very friendly without being overbearing. It was a truly relaxing stay, and the price is reasonable. Whether it's for a short getaway or a stopover, it's an excellent choice and a perfect spot for photos. Definitely worth a return visit!

The best aspect of this stay was by far the owner. He was incredibly, incredibly helpful and friendly — from the moment I walked in the door he offered me a cup of tea, then provided tea and bread the next morning for breakfast, offered advice on what to see in the area, arranged a car to take me to Dalzong Lake, and finally even found me a spot on a local minibus going to my next destination. I couldn’t have done half the things I did during my stay in Xiahe without his advice and efforts on my behalf, so that alone made staying here fully worthwhile! It’s worth mentioning that the guesthouse’s architecture is also absolutely beautiful, and everything looks quite new. It’s located down a quiet side alley off of one of the main commercial streets in town, which seems like the ideal placement. On the accommodations: I stayed in one of the two tents erected on the second floor of the guesthouse. This was largely quite a good experience! The bed was very comfortable (with a heated pad), water and towels provided, etc. The tents are not in a closed-off area, but rather on the second floor/balcony area that also is used for sitting, serving tea, etc., so privacy is somewhat limited, but the whole guesthouse is relatively quiet anyway so it doesn’t feel like a public space. My only suggestions for improvement would be related to the bathroom: during my stay, the shared bathroom for the tents was a sort of temporary-style booth installed in the corner of the room with a toilet, sink, and showerhead. The bathroom was very clean and everything inside worked well, but its sliding door separated from the wall enough that there was always a substantial enough space on one side or the other that could be seen through (the door also didn’t lock and slid back and forth easily). The booth was also small enough that, realistically, I think it would be a bit of a challenge to actually use it to shower. If possible it might be worth looking into some simple fixes to improve these situations, but otherwise I have no complaints!

The hotel I stayed at in Dunhuang was quite interesting, called Dunhuang Hotel, but it's actually just a small three-story hotel. **1. Rooms and Facilities:** I'd advise you to book a twin room, as they are very spacious. The single or queen rooms, on the other hand, are incredibly small, I'm not sure what the design idea was there. What's truly frustrating is the poor soundproofing; you can hear people jumping around upstairs, which is really annoying. **2. Price and Service:** Even during the off-season in Dunhuang, this hotel wasn't particularly cheap, but overall, it was acceptable. The service was also quite ordinary. I was shocked at check-in when, even at 3 PM, my room wasn't ready yet, which felt absurd. I initially wanted to switch rooms, but ended up not doing so. **3. Dining and Amenities:** The hotel doesn't offer complimentary breakfast. If you ask about it, they'll just tell you to pay extra. Of course, eating out in Dunhuang is also an option. **4. Complimentary Activities:** The hotel also offers a so-called ”Western Splendor Tour” or something similar. However, it's a group tour with over 50 people. How do these large bus tours make money, you ask? It's all through commission on ticket sales. So, overall, this hotel is quite average. The kickbacks are significant; for about 40 people, they can get around 1,000 RMB back, meaning 20-30 RMB per person. Because that tour route has so many scenes and attractions, it's all about earning commission. Therefore, I truly don't recommend this hotel. Maybe someone on Xiaohongshu recommended it, so I tried it, but it would have been better to just go for a more standardized option like an All Seasons or Hanting.

We stayed in two hotels in Zhagana for two nights (the first day was sold out), and this one felt better. The hotelier was very considerate, cleaning the room in the morning and checking us in at 10:00 AM. It was convenient to park our car at the hotel and walk to the Grand Loop Trail. The stewed free-range chicken at the restaurant completely washed away the fatigue of the eight-hour Grand Loop Trail. The view from the room and the hotel restaurant was stunning, overlooking the crowded tourist center and Fairy Beach across the way. The hotel also provided complimentary tea and fruit. It was a wonderful stay.

This time I stayed at Nashashan B&B far exceeded expectations. The location is excellent. You can reach the Shashan Scenic Area in a short walk. It is especially worry-free to play back and forth. There is no need to find a parking space in traffic jams. The small courtyard is quiet and elegant, the layout is fresh and comfortable, sitting in the courtyard in the evening to blow the hair, unloading the fatigue of the journey, the top floor platform can also enjoy the starry sky, the atmosphere is full. The room was cleaned spotlessly, the bedding was soft and dry, the bathroom was separated from wet and dry, the 24-hour hot water was stable and sufficient, the air conditioner, WiFi, humidifier were all available, the facilities were brand new and easy to use, and the details were very intimate. The boss and staff are warm and kind, and they will send fresh fruits intimately as soon as they arrive. They will actively share the play route and delicious restaurants. Any needs will be responded quickly and treat people sincerely and thoughtfully. The homestay has its own free parking space, convenient travel, the overall decoration is simple and textured, there is no noisy crowd, quiet and very healing. Whether it is a couple's trip or a family trip, it is very suitable, and the price is full. This stay experience is full, I will definitely choose here next time I come to play, I really recommend it to friends who plan to play!

The main reason for choosing this homestay is that it is close to the Dari Observation Deck. In fact, there is a large viewing platform next to the homestay. The location is great and the scenery is panoramic. There is a parking lot in front of the homestay, parking is convenient and safe; the room facilities are complete, the supplies are complete, there is floor heating, tea making utensils, etc.; there are restaurants and small supermarkets next to the homestay; the boss is very enthusiastic and overall satisfied!

Dunhuang Desert Camping Base unlocked a whole new experience for me! The facilities here are super complete, clean, and comfortable, and there are tons of entertainment options. During the day, riding the dune buggies was incredibly thrilling, and in the evening, watching the stunning desert sunset was absolutely amazing.
