The hotel is located in the city centre right by the harbour, with magnificent view of the opposite coast, the Arctic Cathedral, and the surrounding mountains. Thanks to the downtown location, it is easy to get to the hotel by bus from the airport. (The airport express bus stops right outside the hotel, while the local buses stop 2 streets away.) There are numerous restaurants, shops and supermarkets within a 10 minute walking distance from the hotel. The check in and check out processes were fast and the staffs were efficient. My room is clean, comfortable and quiet. Hot water came quickly in the shower, and the WiFi is easy to access. There are water dispensers beside the lift lobby on every floor. While the room rate is not cheap, the rate of this hotel is slightly less than the rates of similar hotels in the vicinity.
My room has a partial sea view but there are better rooms with a full sea view. I went up to the top floor gym, and the view was spectacular! There's a door that leads to a small balcony, which u could take some beautiful photos.
Breakfast for me was the usual international breakfast. There's not much to talk about.
Location is ideal. Shopping is within walking distance and many restaurants around.
Service staff was amazing. Great service provided.
Recommended by a friend, this hotel truly lives up to expectations. It's very close to the airport, and you can even watch planes take off and land from the terrace. The room is simple, practical, and comfortable, and the breakfast is also quite good. The staff are friendly, and they even offer luggage storage. There's a supermarket and a commercial street nearby, though everything is closed on Sundays.
Conveniently located, walking distance to Arctic cathedral. Breakfast is excellent and very good spread . The front desk staff on 4 Oct early afternoon morning is extremely helpful. The Bristol staff whom I have placed order for early breakfast has forgotten to register my order and this front desk gentleman is kindly to help and give me the breakfast in time for my departure.
The room was small, and there were very few power outlets. The USB socket on one side of the bedside was broken, but I was able to borrow a power strip with three outlets from the front desk, and they told me there were more outlets under the bed. Without that power strip, there would only have been two outlets plus one USB port available by the window.
If you leave early, the hotel front desk offers a simple breakfast, which was decent. During normal breakfast hours, gluten-free options are also available.
The shower stall in the bathroom was very small, making it a bit awkward for a woman to shower comfortably. The floor tiles in the shower had a steep slope for drainage, so I had to really grip with my feet to avoid bumping into the right-angled, double-door shower enclosure.
The front desk staff member who checked me in on the first day was quite good; she informed us that the aurora would be very strong that night and the next, advising us to keep an eye on the sky.
The room was given to us on the first floor for convenience of carrying our luggage. The nearby sea view is very beautiful but very clear. The room is also very big, but the hot water is not hot enough and the bath water is lukewarm and cool. So you have to take a bath early, otherwise you have to wash it the next morning. Maybe there are too many residents and everyone shares the hot water, so The hot water is not hot enough. Breakfast is very basic and you can eat a little before heading to the airport. The neighborhood is actually quite nice and leisurely.
Stayed at Tromsø Cabins during our trip twice. The location is excellent — by the river, with mountain views, yet only a few minutes’ drive to the city. Our cabin was warm, clean, and practical, with a small kitchenette for simple meals. Parking was free and convenient, and there were plenty of EV charging points available, which made our road trip much easier. A cosy and quiet place to stay, perfect as a base for exploring Tromsø and the surrounding nature.
I recently stayed at Thon Hotel Polar in Tromsø and it was overall a great experience! The hotel is located in the city center, very close to the airport bus station, surrounded by many restaurants and convenience stores, and within walking distance to many attractions such as the Aurora Museum and the pier. The location is quite convenient.
Although the room is not big, it is clean and tidy, fully equipped, and the bed is very comfortable, providing me with a warm resting space in the cold winter. The floor heating design in the bathroom is a big plus, and you won’t feel cold at all when taking a shower. The breakfast provided by the hotel is very rich and varied, including fresh bread, smoked salmon, eggs, cereals and a variety of hot drinks, allowing people to start their journey every day with energy.
The service staff are very friendly and are always happy to provide local tourist information. They will even help to check the aurora forecast, which is impressive. Overall, Thon Hotel Polar is an excellent accommodation choice when traveling to Tromsø, with high CP value, and is recommended to travelers who want convenient and comfortable accommodation!
I stayed for three nights. The location of the hotel is very convenient, but the hotel is very small. The bed and window are also small. It is quite depressing to live there. There are only slanted windows. There was no cleaning in the three days.
The room was quite big, the breakfast was good, and the restaurant next to it was delicious. It is a good choice as a hotel that catches an early flight for one night. The surrounding shops are also complete.
