Romantic Hotels in Gansu, China

This is my first time reviewing a hotel. Before my trip, I read the reviews and felt pretty good about it, but I was also prepared for any 'surprises.' I chose this hotel because its location right next to Leiyin Temple and Mingsha Mountain (Singing Sand Dunes) is convenient for kids to play. I had booked a check-in for that afternoon, but my train arrived early at 6:30 AM. Since I planned to be out all day, I thought I'd drop off my luggage at the hotel and complete the check-in formalities first, so I could just head straight to my room upon my return in the afternoon. As soon as the taxi pulled up to the hotel lobby entrance, a staff member came over to open the car door and offered to help with my luggage. Upon entering the lobby, they immediately arranged an upgraded room and breakfast for us. They asked if we had eaten breakfast, and since I hadn't, they kindly provided complimentary breakfast vouchers for the day. The room wasn't huge, but it had ample space. It was decorated in a Western Regions style and came with a humidifier. We could see the scenery outside from the window, and from a higher floor, you could directly see Mingsha Mountain in the distance. The room also included complimentary specialty yogurt and a small camel figurine souvenir. The 'Zhaixing Pavilion' (Star-Gazing Pavilion) on the fourth floor offers a view of the distant desert, and you can see the blue sky above. Every staff member we encountered at the hotel greeted us with a smile. My child loved it so much that we decided to extend our stay. Because my child particularly liked the room key card, I asked during check-out if we could keep one as a souvenir. The staff member specially gave us one. (The room card was a rustic wooden piece with engraved patterns and the room number, and a tassel at the end – very unique and special.) Overall, the experience was excellent. If I have the chance, I would choose to stay here again.

Very mixed feelings about this hotel. The amenities are a plus: gym and laundry (but no dryer) for free and swim and massage (worth trying!) available on top. Breakfast is also amazing. Room is very spacious and little welcome gifts are provided, which is cute. However there is a very annoying smell of cigarette smoke EVERYWHERE. I usually don’t mind cigarette smoke but here it was very intense and disturbing. Also, no one in the staff speaks English or is equipped with any translation tool. The personnel seemed annoyed every time we were trying to communicate with them and couldn’t provide any help. So I think for Chinese standards this is a good hotel but I would say it is not the most suitable for international guests.

The newly opened hotel has a good environment and facilities. I needed to catch a train early in the morning, and the hotel is near the West Railway Station; you can see the station from the window, but you have to take a taxi, which should only cost 10 yuan and take about 5 minutes. I originally booked another hotel in the same building, Wanrun Smart Choice, but when I arrived, they said there were no rooms available and they might not be able to vacate by noon. I checked the platform and saw the price had doubled, clearly meaning I had to cancel my booking myself. The hotel I'm staying at now is in the same building, and the price is about the same as when I booked. They asked if there were rooms available and even gave me early check-in. The difference in service is immediately apparent. I switched immediately.

I took so many great photos during my stay at this hotel; it's really photogenic! The hotel has so much character, and the ambiance is amazing. I highly recommend it! **Service:** The service was excellent. The front desk staff were warm, professional, and went above and beyond. Knowing we were on a road trip, they specially recommended local delicacies, sightseeing routes, and even some hidden photo spots in Jiayuguan. They also suggested a few hidden gem snack shops popular with locals – so thoughtful! Any requests we had during our stay were promptly met by the staff, who were always polite and never perfunctory. It really made us feel well taken care of. **Environment:** The room had fantastic natural light, and the bedding was so comfortable I didn't want to get out of bed. The front desk mentioned the mattress was imported. At night, we could even watch the stars and moon from the room and took some pictures. The location is also excellent, super close to the food street, making it convenient for exploring and dining. It's also a short drive to the Jiayuguan scenic area.

Wonderful 3 nights stay here. Situated at the beginning of the old street, lots of eateries and some shops. Property is beautiful, and surprisingly quiet despite its central location.  Staff all extremely professional and eager to please, from the reception, to chambermaids and breakfast service staff. I’d say they can rival some of the top chain hotels in tier 1 cities.  1 point dropped due to only 2 washing machines for the entire place., making it extremely hard to get an empty machine, especially if you are located in the opposite wing.  Another note is the lack of a privacy screen in the washroom. You can’t put on clothes in the shower since it’s wet but area outside is open with no door. I realise many hotels in Gansu are designed this way so not a specific negative for this property, but something to note if you are not a couple sharing the room.

I traveled from Xianbei to Lanzhousi. Once you got off, get a subway and alighted at Xiguan station. Once arrived, looked for Exit D. The hotel is located in the middle of the walking street with lots of things to see and eat. Don't stay around old Lanzhou town. There're more things to see around here. I'm so impressed with the all the girl staff. They're superb. The room is ok. The food is also ok. I recommend this hotel.

The hotel is very conveniently located. It is next to a shopping mall and a subway station. The environment is comfortable, clean and sanitary. The rooms are spacious. The attitude of the hotel staff is also super good. I highly recommend staying here.

The experience was great! The front desk lady was kind and checked in quickly. The room was clean and tidy, the bedding was comfortable, and I slept until dawn. Convenient location, convenient for eating and shopping around. High cost performance, highly recommended!

An older hotel with somewhat dated facilities, but generally clean and tidy. The night view was okay, but not spectacular, mainly because the exterior glass was full of smudges and dirt. Downsides: the room didn't have a refrigerator, and the only trash can in the entire room was in the bathroom! Nowhere else! Transportation is inconvenient; you have to take a taxi everywhere. It's just 'okay' overall.

It’s a dreamlike feeling and the wilderness experience is great! When staying in the wilderness, the first thing is to look at the scenery. The scenery of the desert hills is not to mention. Although it is at the foot of the mountain, it is still refreshing. It’s also great to take photos in an open space. They gave us guidance on how to take pictures of the starry sky and provided a mobile phone holder. It was great. PS. If you come here, be sure to ask the housekeeper or the boss for a candlelight lantern (the store will provide it for free). The atmosphere for taking photos is great. Got it In terms of meals, we ordered a barbecue from the store and ate on the terrace of the room (four people can sit on it, and if more than four people eat on the sand below the terrace)
