Hotels With Spa in Central Province, Sri Lanka

This was the cheapest hotel I booked in Sri Lanka, yet it offered the best value for money. It completely exceeded my expectations, providing a fantastic experience. **Facilities:** The facilities are comprehensive. The lobby boasts high ceilings and is very spacious, with ample comfortable sofas. The restaurant environment is quite pleasant, and there's also a shopping area. Both the spa and gym are excellent; I was particularly impressed with how well-equipped the gym is. The swimming pool is impressively long and very clean. **Cleanliness:** The cleanliness was good. Despite being an older hotel, it was very well-maintained, hygiene-wise. While some furniture showed its age, it actually added a charming, vintage character to the place. **Ambiance:** The ambiance is lovely. The hotel's decor and materials feel substantial, featuring a lot of solid wood. The restaurant, pool, and rooms are arranged to create a three-sided scenic view, with beautifully designed, staggered architecture complemented by attractive lighting. **Service:** The service was very thoughtful and welcoming. Check-in was swift. A friendly staff member escorted us to our room, explaining things along the way and even demonstrating the functions of various areas inside the room. Our luggage was delivered shortly after. All staff members greeted us warmly whenever we encountered them.

The owner’s own house was changed, Sri Lanka’s local tyrant, two Land Rover. At the top of the mountain, the top floor bar is really view360. The only problem is that the curtains of the roller blinds are almost shaded. Chef is super good! ! ! Chef is super good! ! ! To be honest, the room is just like that. There is not much room for it. Kandy has a good choice for one to two nights. The chef is super, Md can't help but mention it! The pool is good, but it is too cold to get into the water.

The scenery nearby is indeed beautiful, with a bit of a British flair. The facilities are a bit old, but they're reasonably well-maintained, within acceptable limits. The breakfast buffet is half Indian-themed. There's also another hotel and an Indian restaurant next door; personally, I can't get used to the taste, but the atmosphere and environment are nice.

Room is spacious, have all amenities and toiletries (just missing the slippers). It have heater instead of air conditioner as there is mostly cold here. Centralized control system is a plus. Washroom is comparatively much smaller and just the basic size. Cons: The main thing was the management which was poor and mostly looked after only locals as we came to know by our driver. At check in the room key didn't worked 3 time and they have to call some technical guy to resolve the issue which was actually the issue in room door, still they gave us the same room. When we go to food court for breakfast in morning, it was only 4 set items only which also they decide they want to give or not. For every request it was a no even when we are willing to pay extra for the same. For the meal we had we asked extra sambhar they deny they can't give. We asked for sandwich or any breads which was also unavailable. But after sometime, they give sandwich to some other persons. When we confronted them, they told it is in different meal, we asked to give only sandwich they outright denied, when we said give meal they say come after 11. After complaining and telling at the reception his response was mostly defending and at last only told you can discuss with senior manager. It was our time to leave the city as per our itinerary so we left the place as it is.

The room is large and the furniture is simple. The bed is not very soft, I like this slightly harder mattress. The chef's breakfast and dinner are good and more suitable for Chinese appetite. There are also resident singers for dinner. The hotel is also convenient to Horton Plains, which is about 45 minutes by car.

The location is fantastic, especially if you want to enjoy views of the famous rock right from the pool — it’s truly a highlight of the stay. The buffet is generous, offering a good mix of local and international dishes, so there’s something for everyone. We stayed in one of the bungalows, which were spacious, surrounded by nature, and perfect for a relaxing getaway. It was a treat to spot different animals around the property, which added a unique charm to the experience. On the downside, the bike rental is significantly overpriced, and it seems that very few guests use them because of this. Additionally, many amenities — even something as basic as extra water — are quite expensive, which takes away slightly from the otherwise enjoyable experience. Overall, it’s a beautiful place in an unbeatable location, with great food and lovely surroundings, but some of the pricing policies could be more guest-friendly.

Lovely view and soft, comfortable beds to sleep in for the night. The single, only problem I had was the waiter at the restaurant kept asking me, “are you okay, is everything good?” literally every 2 minutes. After saying “yes, thank you” multiple times, he stands there and starts a conversation, and once, just stands there and looks at me. The only thing I want to do is eat my food in peace. Lastly, after the only thing he brought me was a cappuccino (as it was a buffet so I fetch my own food), I gave a 1000 lkr tip. He was visibly upset with this and his over-friendliness completely disappeared. I didn’t dare to go back to the restaurant after this. Food was good, however!

Hotel was prepared and ready for my arrival. Had issues with connection to wifi so had to contact the reception. No hairdryer in room and had to request this even though it should’ve been there already. Ordered room service, it came cold and items forgotten from order even though order was repeated back to me on the phone. Breakfast was average for a Radisson. Seating options strange with big long tables reserved for groups rather than small families, couples and singles. Tuktuk touts waiting outside hotel to pester you for your destination. It was clean for the most part and well needed after a long day of travel but I wouldn’t return. Not sure how this hotel is #1 in Kandy but I was left feeling disappointed.

On the outskirts of Kandy, the top of the mountain. The road up the mountain is steep and rugged, but after entering the hotel, it is small and exquisite, full of human touch, the restaurant overlooks the Kandy Valley, the scenery is very good. It is worth mentioning the service attitude: We bring a child, and we add the extra cost of 15-20 knife in basically all hotels, but here we are exempted and a child breakfast is also given. Especially to highlight is the evening buffet, originally wanted to order a single point, the manager repeatedly persuaded, in the mentality of not giving them trouble to barely order the self-help, the result found to be an unexpected surprise. Just... It's really quite meticulous and delicious. Especially after eating a few days of five-star unflattering buffet, it was absolutely a surprise here. =====2025-11-10~11===== The Carnation Rest, located in Nuwara Eliya, Central Province, is essentially a guesthouse or B/B. Situated on the outskirts of town, it's surrounded by other hotels and guesthouses, as well as supermarkets and shops, giving it a more vibrant and lively atmosphere. Our room was a suite on the second floor of a villa along the street, with one large (1.5 meters) bed and one small (1 meter) bed. The room was fairly well-equipped, without air conditioning (the temperature is only 10-20 degrees Celsius here due to the higher elevation, so it's unnecessary), but it had a water heater and a hairdryer. The suite's living room had tableware and a sofa. The room was a bit old, but the amenities seemed clean and hygienic. The bed was comfortable, and of course, there were no toiletries like toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, or slippers (which I'm quite used to). The guesthouse staff (who are also the owners) were several very nice and handsome young men, extremely friendly. We found no decent restaurants nearby, but there was a large supermarket, so we asked the handsome owner if we could use their kitchen for dinner. To our surprise, he readily agreed without hesitation, only requesting that we not cook pork. So we quickly went to the supermarket to buy meat, vegetables, coconut oil, and seasonings, and cooked a delicious meal. Afterwards, the owner even washed all the dishes for us. It was truly touching. The next morning's breakfast was largely the same as the previous days, except for yogurt and cake. When paying for the room, they didn't accept the USD deposit from Ctrip; we paid in cash on the spot. Looking back, the environment here was an improvement over the previous ones; at least we could take a walk outside in the evening. The owner was incredibly friendly; they didn't charge us extra for using the kitchen or cleaning up after us, leaving a very pleasant impression.
